(If you’ve seen this on here before: Cool! I can’t find it! I found this version of it in my trash. I’m still trying to rewrite it. How is it so hard to find the right way to say “their cheetahs made of sand which each protect a single dune grass plant respectively. They are controlled by the health of the plant and are somehow aware of how they are being affected. They sometimes hunt stuff despite being made of sand, they “eat” things that bother the plants.”?
SCP-XXXX “Sand Cheetah”
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures:
Areas of ammophila known to produce instances of SCP-XXXX are to be heavily protected and monitored. Should an instance of SCP-XXXX be observed, it’s associated ammophila is to be removed and subsequently neutralized. If the specific ammophila cannot be identified, attempts should be made to contain the instance until it can be identified. Active instances which have been contained are to be placed in a secure storage locker when not in testing.
Description:
SCP-XXXX are a series of constructs resembling Acinonyx jubatus hecki which emerge from
Instance’s composure, health, speed, and behavior are all directly tied to a ammophila plant.
SCP-XXXX is an artificial species resembling Acinonyx jubatus hecki. All instances are composed entirely of artifacts found in the area surrounding it’s ammophila plant. Reported items include rocks, sand, gravel, shingles, pebbles, mollusc shells, coralline algae, and plastic items. It has only been found on Long Island, NJ. Instances will not willingly leave the mile radius around their ammophila. SCP-XXXX instances are also notably smaller than the average Acinonyx jubatus hecki measuring between 50 to 70 cm and weighing between 11–52 kg.
Instances health, speed, and behaviour are directly tied to a corresponding ammophila. SCP-XXXX instance’s speed and direction are directly determined by the speed and direction of wind passing over its corresponding ammophila. SCP-XXXX is incapable of movement in the event its corresponding ammophila is placed in a vacuum. Testing has also revealed that they don't seem to require oxygen or any similar chemicals. Instances are capable of jumping up to 2 meters into the air though it rarely expresses this, unless it is “hunting” Laridae.
Should ammophila that it is tied to be threatened or even touched the SCP-XXXX entity will attempt to return to it’s ammophila under any means necessary. Should it reach it’s ammophila, it will then consume anything that has entered it’s ammophila. Should what has entered it’s ammophila have left, it will then attempt to find this offending item or creature. It has not displayed any anomolise means for finding the offender and will eventually stop trying to find the offender.
