SCP 1350
Object class: Keter
Containment Procedures:
SCP 1350 must be contained within an airtight containment room that is to have no water at all to prevent staff from getting infected. Only researchers with special suits may enter the room. Any researcher leaving the room must clean themselves properly. No SCPs may enter the room at all costs. Any unauthorised people who attempt to enter the room will be instantly executed.
SCP 1350 (Taxon name EK-1 and nicknamed the Incurable Pathogen)
is a novel bacterium which classifies as a superbug as no type of antibiotics can kill it. It appears to be incredibly complex and can mutate rapidly like a virus. Unlike ordinary bacteria, it can replicate in 5 minutes. It also shows immunity to bacteriophage as any bacteriophage that attempts to infect it will instantly be blocked off by a giant thick coating which makes it comfortable in any type of environment. The bacterium can survive at temperatures as high as 267 degrees Celsius and as low as -312 degrees Celsius. Despite other Keter-type SCPs, SCP 1350 is the most dangerous SCP as it can infect any animal, plant and fungus meaning it can wipe out all life on Earth. It can infect 231 million people and kill up to 45 million people in a day if it managed to leave the facility. Due to this, cure research has started and yet only (RETRACTED)% of the cure has been complete as it constantly does a genetic reshuffle. The symptoms of the bacteria is the following:Total organ failure, coma, seizures, necrosis, pulmonary oedema, diarrhoea, dysentery, coughing, sneezing, total brain death, immune suppression and fatal fever.
Mental symptoms include:
Insanity, depression, aggression, violence and self harassment.
Researchers have found out that the bacterium forces the brain to make chemicals that causes this type of behaviour.
Usage to terminate SCP 682
Because of how lethal it is, it was decided that SCP 1350 should be used to terminate SCP 682. Special forces shot a dart at SCP 682 which had the bacterium within it. Within 3 hours SCP 682 was suffering from necrosis, diarrhoea, pulmonary oedema and fever. SCP 682 was also self-harassing itself which was responsible for 28% of its mass that it lost. What was noticed was that SCP 682 was also losing limbs rapidly as it appeared that it was the bacterium responsible for the highly lethal leprosy-like symptoms. Reason for different behaviour is unknown. Then 3 days later SCP slowly starts losing the symptoms and on day 5 SCP 682 recovered from the bacterium. About 91% of SCP 682’s body mass was lost. SCP 682 then starts shouting profanity at the staff and promises to kill everyone who was involved during the termination test. It appeared that SCP 682 mutated which caused it to become immune to SCP 1350. SCP 1350 is the SCP which has been the closest to killing SCP 682. However, due to the rapid mutation abilities of SCP 1350, future termination attempts have been planned.
Origin
SCP 1350 was first reported in United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 2012 where thousands of hedgehog corpses were being reported across the nation. The bacterium then managed to infect a human (Patient 0 being recognised as (RETRACTED)) and started spreading across the nation. The government instantly closed all of its ports and airports alongside with the English Channel tunnel. The UK’s economy was shattered and all those who were infected were moved to an SPC base which was newly built. No-one who was infected with SCP 1350 survived and so the pathogen is being studied.
It isn’t known where SCP 1350 came from, but there are many theories on how it evolved. The most popular theory was that it was the first lethal bacterium and so remained unchanged for millions of years.
