Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Typical night scenery of SCP-XXXX-A during the anomalous periods, photoed at 23:14, ██/██/19██.
Special Containment Procedure: Due to the immobility of SCP-XXXX, Provisional Site-XXXX, which is disguised as a natural reserve protected by Russia national force, is constructed to fully enclose the area affected by the anomalies. A fence is set around the site, and a group of armed foundation personnel are to patrol the border of the site to forbid any civilian from entering.
The Red Zone of SCP-XXXX is marked out with a fence and signs based on current experiment records, in order that the secondary memetic effect is fully contained. No personnel should enter the Red Zone, except for authorized experiment propose. Personnel fail to evacuate before 0600 are considered lost.
The Red Zone is to be patrolled from 2300 to 0200 every night. Individuals and objects found on or by the lake are to be offered with a quick inspection and transferred to Site-XXXX for further examinations or interrogations. Should any anomalous entities that were not previously reported be encountered, all personnel must evacuate the Red Zone at once.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a vast, uninhabited, forested area of approximately 900km³, located in Siberia, Russia. Surrounded by a mountainous region, SCP-XXXX-A, a lake that is approximately 150km³ in surface area, lies on the center of SCP-XXXX. During the daytime, the area displays nothing less than normal properties; however, from 2100 to 0600 every night, multiple anomalous phenomena occur within the area.
The most apparent anomaly is the memetic effect of SCP-XXXX. On walking through a point beyond an uncertain border of SCP-XXXX, human beings experience the primary memetic effect: the phrase "Silent Regression", which is regarded as the area's name, occurs in their mind. According to the statements of the test subjects, the process where the phrase occurs is not that the phrase is spoken by some voice in their mind, but instead that they instantly understand that "'Silent Regression' is the name of this place". The secondary effect is undergone when the subjects reach an uncertain distance from SCP-XXXX-A, where the subjects receive informations, in a manner similar to that of the primary effect, that they should not go any further. This phenomenon indicates the approximate border of the Red Zone of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-A exhibits the majority of the anomalies. Observations of the opposite side of the lake attain identical results at different positions by the lake. On moving across the lake through any means, human individual would be observed to disappear at a certain point, and reappear at the same point after several hours. The subjects report that during the vanishing period, the view of the lake is identical in all directions, with the water surface being observed to be permanently placid and void; multiple subjects that enter the lake at the same time each report the others' disappearance, even if they travel on the same boat.
SCP-XXXX-A will manifest phenomena that is more incomprehensible and hostile, if any action below is taken by the subjects:
- Making attempts to stay still on the lake, before or after the disappearance;
- Sending unmanned objects into the lake;
- Leaving any objects (including human beings) in the Red Zone without retrieving before 0600; and
- Taking anything from the Red Zone without returning before 0600.
The aforementioned phenomena always include sudden vanishing of any involved objects; nonetheless, most of subjects vanish in the lake were later found on or by the lake with human subjects either found dead or in fear of different level, while none of those left in or moved out the Red Zone have yet been retrieved. All retrieved human subjects report the experience on an "island". View Addendum XXXX.2, and .3 for detailed informations.
Addendum XXXX.1: History: On 07/██/2002, Agent E█████ F██████ was found missing in Siberia. The search of his last coordinate led to the discovery of the primary memetic effect of SCP-XXXX. The approximate border and basic properties of SCP-XXXX was confirmed during August of 2002, with current containment procedures confirmed on 09/05/2002. The construction of Site-XXXX finished in April of 2003.
Addendum XXXX.2: Interview Log XXXX-1
Note: On 07/16/2005, D-5172 was assigned to stay at rest beyond the disappearance point and record any noticeable phenomenon. The moment when the subject reached the switch of the motor of his boat, the signal of communication and recording device interrupted. D-5172 was considered lost at the time. On 08/21/2005, D-5172 was discovered during the routine patrol, who was comatose at the time and later diagnosed with several syndrome caused by fear. The interview was conducted on 08/22/2005, when D-5172 was previously administered with medical treatments and was fully sedated.

Doctor S████: Please describe what you saw after stopping the boat.
D-5172: Well, nothing strange at first. You know, everything is the same as usual: mountains, lake, everything. But suddenly, I found myself sitting by the edge of an unknown island with a forest; the scenery around told me that I'm still in the lake, but I didn't see any island when I was on the boat. I couldn't find my boat, but fortunately I still had things I brought with me, so I went into the forest and lit up a fire. Everything seemed to be normal , until I noticed something strange.
Doctor S████: What did you notice?
D-5172: I felt something staring at my back, making me pretty uneasy. I turned around, but I saw nothing unusual; the moment I turned back, the stares came back. Later it became so intense; stares came from everywhere, from my back, from my left, from my right. It was as though some monsters most would jump out and eat me, and I wished it was, but no. Only stares. Unease became fear, and fear made me insane. Everything was staring on me, but nothing could I see.
Doctor S████: Did you try to avoid them?
D-5172: Of course. I ran away, but they followed me all along. Soon I found that I got lost in the forest. The last thing I could remember was that I pouched my head onto a rock in craziness. Then I was here. [Heavy respiration] That's all.

Addendum XXXX.3: Interview Log XXXX-2
Note: Due to his high score in cognitoharzard resistance test, D-7175 was assigned to experience similar vanishing to that of D-5172 on 08/30/2005, and was retrieved on 09/15/1976. The subject was diagnosed with severe paranoia that was not fully cured until Class-C amnesiac was administered on 09/22/2005. This interview was conducted on 09/18/2005, when the syndrome was basically controlled.

D-7175: … I felt stares, but I saw nothing around. Honestly, doc, I was not afraid of them. I'm never afraid of anything. I thought they where animals, though I hadn't seen any along my way. Later I found I was right, in the worst way.
Doctor S████: What happened?
D-7175: Well, I got really annoyed by those stares, so I finally turned around again and…
[Subject stops, and covers his face with hands, keeping silent for seconds]
Doctor S████: And? What did you saw?
D-7175: [In tremulous voice] And, I saw a deer. Pretty normal deer, but its eyes, oh my, they were literally emitting fear to me. They were not angry, not mad—I could deal with it if they were. They were peaceful, too peaceful. The were empty, hollow, but immense. I could see nothing and everything through them. It just gazed into me, without moving at all. I was severely frightened and was to get rid of it, but… [Heavy respiration] But fear had beaten me before I could even touch it. I wanted to return to my fire, but… [Subject starts to weep] A monkey sat in my place, with the same eyes. I could not even stand. They were sucking out my soul. They fixed their eyes on me. When I tried to avoid them, more of them appeared. And, and…
[Subject covers his face with hands again]
D-7175: [With face in hands, weeping] That's the most I can say. Sorry doc.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedure: Due to the immobility of SCP-XXXX, Provisional Site-XXXX-02, which is disguised as a military base of Russia national force, is constructed adjacent to the area affected by the anomalies, and is entirely protected by Scranton reality anchors. A electric fence with warning signs is set around SCP-XXXX, and the border of SCP-XXXX must be monitored at all times. Currently, no personnel are allowed to enter the fence area.
In case of possible incidences, former staffs of Site-XXXX are only to be assigned to Sites protected by reality anchors.

SCP-XXXX-1 are cognitoharzardous objects that cause fear to humans near them while not in the sight of those humans. SCP-XXXX-2 are animals with similar effect as SCP-XXXX-1, but they cause even more fear if in the sight of humans. SCP-XXXX-3 are humans with the similar effect as SCP-XXXX-1 and -2, but they are able to paralyze any normal human who had direct eye contact with them, and transform the subject into a new SCP-XXXX-3 entity unless the contact was interrupted. Although normally the anomalous entities do not exist outside the Red Zone, they are capable to teleport, and are considered to be able to appear everywhere outside the Red Zone since Incident XXXX-01. Addendum XXXX.4: Incident Report XXXX-01
On 02/15/2009, incidences similar to that described in Addendum XXXX.2 was reported by several staffs of the site; it's stated that stares were sensed to unease those staffs, and several entities of SCP-XXXX-1 with marks of the foundation was found. The objects were confirmed to be those lost in the Red Zone of SCP-XXXX afterwards. Due to their unability to be contained, anti-cognitoharzard equipments are offered to all the staffs of Site-XXXX.
On 02/16/2009, entities of SCP-XXXX-2 were found in Site-XXXX. Due to the application of protection procedures, the functioning of the Site was hardly influenced. On 02/17/2009, the appearance of SCP-XXXX-3 entities was reported; footage records how those entities transform normal humans in eye contact with them into new SCP-XXXX-3 entities. The Site was evacuated that day, and the staffs were reassigned after psychological examinations and treatments were offered.
On 02/19/2009, a troop of trained D-Class personnel was assigned to explore the construction of Site-XXXX. The signals of communication and recording device ceased when the troop entered the site, and none of these personnel have yet been retrieved.
On 02/22/2009, some foundation terminals and staffs' personal computers received emails with the same content as that listed in Addendum XXXX.5, the images in whose attachment caused [DATA EXPUNGED]. Meanwhile, entities of SCP-XXXX-3 were observed in all Sites, except those were reality-anchored, that former Site-XXXX staffs were reassigned to, chasing those staffs, causing several containment breaches. The entities ceased to exist on 02/25/2009, when all former staffs of Site-XXXX were either terminated or transferred to reality-anchored Sites.
