the arachnine

Special Containment Procedures:
Arachnine require no true containment with the majority of them simply being left where they are in the wild. Simple barbwire fences are established around the forests, old abandoned towns and hills where they are found with warning notices stating the areas are military firing ranges or nuculur testing sites to deter human intruders. The arachnine themselves are unlikely to try to leave there home sites as they are nervous of human presence due to past persecution and are not considered a flight risk
Description:
Arachnine typically stand around 5 -7 feet tall. The females appear like spiders with humanesqe feet and two arms ending in ridges of spikes. They have a human like, but nose less, head with a wide sharp teeth filled mouth and two eyes split into four apiece like the many lenses of a flies eye but each of these eight eyes has its own pupil and iris like a humans. Arachnine have been observed to wear clothing seemingly fashioned from their own silk and whatever happens to be laying around such as dead leaves, feathers, animal fur basically anything that keeps them warm and can stick to their silk.
The males have been discovered to be non anomalous humans who upon reaching their teenage years mate with the females. The children produced by such unions are either non anomalous 100% humans if they are male or 100% arachnine if they are female suggesting that whatever creates arachnine lies on the X chromosome.
Arachnine females feed on birds, rabbits and other similar small creatures that they catch in simple web traps or web snares. They don't produce milk instead feeding their babies on a regurgitated mix of meat and seeds that get blown into their webs. The males are also fed basic crop plants, wild berries and fish their mothers seemingly aware they require a more varied diet to survive than just the meat given to the women. Arachnine have shown an intellect like that of a uneducated human. The females lack the ability to talk due to a lack of tongue and vocal chords instead using a complex sign language. The males can talk but being raised in the isolated arachnine society's they usually just use the same sign language.

They are currently 35 known arachnine colonies ranging from between twenty individuals to one hundred scattered around the world.
The origins of the arachnine continue to remain a mystery to the foundation. The only real clue discovered was a single depiction of a female arachnine on a ancient Greek vase which also featured the greek goddess Athena and a image of a woman weaving. The arachnine themselves, during the few conversations they have had with foundation personal claim that their ancestors came from ancient Greece but they were driven out and scattered around the world by the ancient Greeks who feared their spider like appearance.
A number of experiments have been carried out on the female arachnine and the non anomalous males of their society's. The first involved ten foundation male D class subjects. The men were made to have sex with ten female arachnine. The products of this union produced five non anomalous males and five arachnine females. Then ten foundation female volunteers mated with the non anomalous arachnine males the result of this union was nine ordinary human children seven girls and two boys though sadly the tenth women in the experiment miscarried, examination of the corpse (male) however showed no anomalies. This confirmed the foundations belief that the anomalous element existed only within female arachnine apparently passed on from mother to daughter. further experiments of this kind have now been forbidden for the mental and physical health of both the humans and arachnine involved. Experiments are however still being done on the X chromosome of the female arachnine.
