Item #: SCP-5962

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Item SCP-5962 is kept in a locked 10 by 10 foot room, with no cords, or outlets, at site 77. All testing guitars are to be kept in a storage closet within the room. The closet doors must be closed and locked until testing resumes. There are to be no acoustic guitars inside SCP-5962's room at any time.

SCP-5962-1 Is to be kept on a stand on the opposite side of the room from SCP-5962. It is forbidden from use while a different guitar is being used in the same room, especially with SCP-5962.

Description: SCP-5962 is a Marshall brand guitar amplifier, model JTM45. It includes every component a normal amplifier of this model has, and no new components have been added. It was manufactured in September of 19██, and purchased by previous owner, █████ █████, in September 20██. It was sent to the foundation in October of the same year. It was believed to gain its anomalous abilities during manufacturing.

Nothing seems unusual about SCP-5962 when a guitar is in use, until the user begins to sing. Unintentionally, every word they sing that has less than 4 characters, and more than 5 characters, will be replaced by a seemingly random word with either 4 or 5 characters. Every new word is grammatically correct, but may not stay on topic. Further testing has revealed that SCP-5962 will not alter lyrics to any song by 1900s band The Beatles.

If a song by The Beatles is performed using SCP-5962, the person performing will experience extreme dizziness, as will everyone else in the room. continuing to play and sing will result in the performer experiencing extreme agitation, and then they will destroy the guitar being played with every inch of force. After the guitar is successfully destroyed, every person affected will return to normal.

If any type of acoustic guitar is within 1 meter of SCP-5962, it will emit extremely loud white noise. If it is moved closer, the acoustic guitar will instantly shatter into thin, linear pieces, and the strings will curl up until they are perfectly round, and then incinerate. The white noise will continue until every piece of the guitar is removed from the room. Due to this discovery, there is to never be testing with an acoustic-electric guitar.

Testing has revealed if a guitar is used with SCP-5962 5 times, it will gain the same anomalous abilities as SCP-5962. One guitar has obtained these abilities, and is now classified as SCP-5962-1.
