Thermogram of the item in question
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a steel box inside Storage Locker 12 at Site-186. The storage locker in question is to be secured and locked. When it is being transported, personnel are not to hold it in their hands. It may be slid onto a wheeled cart and pushed to its destination, or held in its containment box.
Personnel that were in contact with SCP-XXXX are to be rotated every three months and monitored.
Should its thermal readings exceed the threshold of 210°F (Or 100°C) personnel are to cool it with water. Any liquid that was in contact with the object must be collected for further testing.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a transparent glass ball. When touched, SCP-XXX translates speech into whatever language the subject thinks of at the moment; no limitations to this ability have been found. The SCP's temperature rises in proximity to humans and when in use. Other humanoid entities and animals do not seem to affect SCP-XXX's temperature; nor do they seem to be affected by the SCP's abilities. The rise in temperature is unexplained at the time of writing, though it is to be noted that each word translated rises the temperature slightly.
Testing is limited to Level 3 personnel, due to the SCP's sensitive nature, as multiple tests have lead to one or more casualties. Certain test subjects have sucessfully translated their speech into unknown languages that, in one way or another, affected the nearby area. Refer to addendum 1-3.
Its highest recorded temperature was 853°C, reached in 32 hours and 24 minutes. Tested pressures exceeded 10 atmospheres. Sphere appears to be near-indestructable, but no further tests concerning its structure have been made. Termination requests have been denied. Thaumiel classification is being considered.
