Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in secure storage at Site-19, under constant surveillance. During tests, the direction of rotation of the dial (either clockwise or anti-clockwise) must be recorded. Access to SCP-XXXX is restricted to project personnel only.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a magnifying glass, specifically resembling a █████████ brand model, popular in South America. A stippled metal dial is fitted coaxially to its handle, not present on non-anomalous versions of the █████████ magnifying glass. When the dial is rotated to a specific angle (which was marked by the SCP-XXXX project team during early tests), the magnifying glass functions perfectly normally, though there is no way to precisely adjust the dial to this setting.

SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties manifest when the collar is rotated beyond this point. Doing this changes the appearance of objects viewed through the glass, becoming more deformed and distorted the further the dial is rotated, eventually shrinking to a point and disappearing. Where the position of the magnifying glass would intersection with a deformation, the ring will encounter resistance and will be unable to turn any further.

Beyond 100 degrees of rotation, almost all objects will completely disappear. Large buildings will usually remain visible far beyond the 120 degree setting. Rotating the dial beyond 180 degrees becomes more difficult as SCP-XXXX-A instances fill more of the available space, and collisions with them become next to impossible to avoid. The furthest that the dial has been rotated is 340 degrees, at which point nearly all space is occupied by SCP-XXXX-A. It is speculated that SCP-XXXX is showing a projection of the fourth dimension.

SCP-XXXX-A are round, elongated masses of pinkish-white flesh. They connect to the brains of all living animals viewed through the lens of SCP-XXXX, first appearing in the space left behind as an animal shrinks away completely, then growing and moving away. This pattern is consistent with a 3D projection of a four-dimensional tentacle. It is unknown where SCP-XXXX-A instances lead, how they got there, or what their purpose is, if any. As it is impossible to move in the fourth dimension, efforts to penetrate the “wall” present at 340 degrees of rotation have been unsuccessful; it is unknown what, if anything, is beyond it.
