Possession Blade

Item #: SCP-0000

Object Class: Safe

Threat Level: Blue

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-0000 is to be contained within a medium sized safe within Site-77. SCP-0000 is to be initially tested on D class personnel. All cases of SCP-0000 are to be contained behind a magnetically sealed door designed to shut in the case of a power outage. Accessing said door requires two key cards to be swiped within no less than 0.5 seconds of each other on two key card scanners, each on opposite sides of the hallway leading to its containment chamber. Failure to scan the second card will sound an alarm within the facility, locking all doors within the floor. If this was a simple mistake, staff are not to worry, as MTF guards equipped with the doors' keys will sweep the floor for any anomalies.

Due to its unpredictable nature within the right hands, SCP-0000 is to be only be accessed by foundation members with a combination of class 5 access, strong mental health from a psychiatric evaluation from no more than 2 months prior, and having sworn complete loyalty to the SCP foundation. SCP-0000 is to be used on willing MTF members, though they also need to have been checked for the last two previously stated criteria.

The classes of SCP-0000's byproducts can vary from Safe to Keter. Due to the nature of how SCP-0000 is handled throughout the facility, the vast majority are Thaumiel, though upon the death of those affected by them, the SCP also becomes neutralized. Only those under the influence of SCP-0000 are able to see instances of its creations.

Description: SCP-0000 itself is a metal alloy of so far unknown sources, believed to be alien. This hypothesis is supported by a reported case of an SCP-0000 sample being found within a meteor crater in Antarctica. In its natural state, SCP-0000 is completely harmless, with similar properties to iron or gold, to the point where traces have been previously sold as fools gold within antique stores. Pure samples have a conductivity of 72% that of pure copper, only slightly higher than pure gold. SCP-0000 has an average melting point of 1325°C, though a boiling point is yet to be discovered.1 Other samples have been previously found within the ruins of Mayan temples, forged into the blades of sacrificial daggers, along with the heads of arrows. This leads the foundation to believe that past societies were aware of SCP-0000's abilities. Once one has been stabbed or cut by a blade constructed with SCP-0000, depending on whether or not they pass the currently 20% survival rate2, subjects begin to perceive a previously unseen "spirit". These byproducts of SCP-0000 will then be referred to as SCP-0000, followed by the chronological order that the foundation has discovered them. SCP-0000 does not only affect humans. See 'Addendum 0000-a'.

SCP-0000 was first discovered within [REDACTED], Italy on ██/██/2001 in the possession of the now deceased Mr. ██████, believed to have had close ties to organised crime. Following his death, police raided his home and found a ritualistic dagger constructed from SCP-0000, similar in design to a Roman Secespita3. Even with the complete lack of any historical evidence, this suggests SCP-0000 was also present within Ancient Rome. The dagger's blade was thought to be blunt until officer Guarracino received a paper cut sized slit on his finger when reportedly slipping with the item in hand. He was secured by the SCP foundation a week after checking into a mental hospital for what he believed to be schizophrenia, as he believed himself to be possessed. See 'Document #SCP-0000-01'. The first sample of SCP-0000 was confiscated from the Italian police for further testing.

Date: ██/██/2001

Interviewer: Senior Researcher Dr. Shirley, site-77

Interviewee: Police officer Bruno Guarracino

Note: For ease of reading, the following transcript has been translated to English by the foreign affairs department staff of site-77. Italian slang used has also been translated to their English equivalent.

[BEGIN LOG]

(The sound of shuffling papers, along with chair legs scraping against the ground as Dr. Shirley sat down)

Dr. Shirley: So, Mr. Guarracino, I'm sure you are able to understand as to why you are here. Do you happen to know exactly where here is?

Officer Guarracino: (He shakes his head) Come on, you don't see this? (He points behind his shoulder)

Dr. Shirley: (Intrigued) See wh-

Officer Guarracino: And no, I don't know where I am.

Dr. Shirley: You are within site 77 of the SCP foundation. Our specialty is protecting the world by containing and researching anomalous entities. Now, back to the question at hand… what exactly is it that you were asking if I could see? For context, you and I are the only two present in the ro-

Officer Guarracino: How the fuck can you not see this shit? (once again, he points behind his shoulder, leaning forward)

Officer Guarracino: (Whispering) Look, whatever this thing is, I want you to take care of it. Every Breath You Take has been following me for the last few weeks. ("Every Breath You Take" was said in English, presumed to be what he had named SCP-0000-01)

Dr. Shirley: Every Breath You Take? The Police?4

Dr. Shirley: Officer, has this entity caused any damage to you so far? If not, it would be safe to assume that you are perfectly safe within its presence.

Officer Guarracino: (Takes a deep breath) Okay, fine. I'm okay now. What do you wanna know?

Dr. Shirley: Excellent! Now, can you describe what this "Every Breath You Take" looks like?

Officer Guarracino: (Turns around in his chair) Okay, uh… It sorta looks like a regular person, but it's not wearing any clothes, but there are folds on its skin that look a bit like like a police uniform. No dick though, and its skin is like a light blue. Its body is pretty muscular. There's a police hat on its head, and it's wearing a pair of glasses. (Leans forward, squinting) Can't see any lenses in 'em though…

Officer Guarracino: (Turns back around) You can't see any of this, can you?

(Dr. Shirley shakes his head. In response, Officer Guarracino holds his hand out, making the motion of lifting Dr. Shirley's pen out of his hand. Officer Guarracino hand was about a quarter of a metre away from said pen)

Dr. Shirley: Fascinating… Is this the work of your "spirit", officer?

Officer Guarracino: Yep. This pen's ink is black, isn't it? I'm seeing a line of black smoke connecting you and the pen right now. (He pressed his finger against the pen, trailing his finger along said invisible line until making contact with Dr. Shirley's chest.

Dr. Shirley: Well, officer, I believe the data I've collected today is quite sufficient. The guards outside will escort you to your living quarters during your stay at the SCP foundation.

Officer Guarracino: Thanks, Doc. (The two shake hands)

[END LOG]

Following a psychiatric screening, officer Guarracino was escorted to the living quarters of site-77 for further testing at a later time. Due to his compliance with the foundation, he was treated as a level-2 clearance guest within the facility. As of now, he is currently residing within the living quarters of Site 77. Due to his compliance with the foundation, he is to be given anything he requests (within reason) during his stay at the foundation whilst researching a way to separate him from SCP-0000-001. No special containment procedures are required. Officer Guarracino is allowed to leave the site if senior staff give an approval no less than 24 hours prior. He is to be observed from a distance at all times by no less than two (2) disguised MTF operatives subjected to SCP-0000.
