Item #: SCP-5938
Object Class: Euclid
SCP-5938-1
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5938 should be contained at Site-89. SCP-5938 is be able to remain an instance of SCP-5938-2, and freely roam the facility. Violence should not be used against SCP-5938-2. SCP-5938-2 should be contained in a 7.5 x 7.5 room with assorted furniture.
Containment Procedure Update ██/██-/1979: (See Addendum 5938.1) SCP-5938 should be contained at Site-203. SCP-5938-1 is to be kept in a secure room with access granted only to Level 4 personnel. SCP-5938-1 itself will be kept in a locked case that is under 24-hour surveillance. When not in lab conditions, SCP-5938-1 is not to be approached within a five (5) foot radius. SCP-5938-1 should not be placed on the head for any intents or purposes. SCP-5938-1 should not be provided a host unless under lab conditions and contained in steel restraints.
Description: SCP-5938-1 is a black top hat uncovered in 1982. However, tests conducted reveal that SCP-5938 is dated back to ████. SCP-5938-1 was uncovered 12,000 feet away from the shore of the pacific ocean. Currently, SCP-5938-1's orgins remain unknown. Although it seems to be made of felt, it does not have any properties of felt besides for it's textures. It has survived incineration without any visible damage.
If SCP-5938 has been left on the head for five (5) minutes it fuses to the skull. There have been no instances of it ever being destroyed or degraded, as it seems to be virtually indestructible. After about ten (10) minutes on the skull it has fully transformed into SCP-5938-2. SCP-5938-2 is a humanoid entity, roughly 1.9 meters in height, which bears the appearance of a human male. SCP-5938 is a parisitic entity, It alters the mind and body of it's host. SCP-5938 seems to be capable of intelligent thought, and it's behavior does not seem to be affected by it's host persona, and seems to just use the host to use it's body.
SCP-5938-1 seems to change it's host's body into a highly volatile, flammable, and biodegradable substance that has a similar texture to human flesh. It does not seem to have any circulatory system whatsoever, although it does have a skeletal system. However, it has significantly fewer bones than the average human. It possesses understanding of complex machinery as well as able to use ranged weapons with incredible precision and accuracy.
SCP-5938-2 has described it's past vividly, and can speak a wide range of languages including Spanish, French, English, Korean, and Arabic. It is unknown how many hosts SCP-5938 has had in it's lifespan, but it is known that SCP-5938 used it's original host from ████-████. SCP-5938-2 seems to be able to see the intentions of people, however it's judgement of this does not seem to be very accurate, as it killed many staff members, and it is doubted that all the staff members were potential murderers. SCP-5938 does however seem to have good intentions, and it seems to want to rid the world of atrocities commited by man.
When an instance of SCP-5938-2 is fatally wounded, it leaves SCP-5938-1 on the ground but does not leave the host's body where it perished. There are no traces of SCP-5938-2 left after it's expiration.
Addendum 5938.1: (██/██/1980) Dr. ████ conducted a number of interviews with the subject regarding its previous hosts, and over time began to note the lack of aggression in the subject. By 1981, Dr. ████ deemed SCP-5938 "Safe". On the day of █/██-/1982, SCP-5938 killed an armed guard and obtained their weapon. SCP-5938 killed 17 staff members and injured 46. Following this the subject fled the facility into the Sierra Desert. On the day of ██/██-/1982 SCP-5938 was re-contained before any civilians were killed or injured. After this incident, Dr. ████ conducted an interview with SCP-5938.
