Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept at site ███, which is protected by gamma-grade perimeter safeguards. These consist of two layers.

Layer one appears as an outer perimeter fence lining the border of site ███, enclosing an area of roughly 2,5 kilometres². The fence is designed to appear worn and slightly neglected, giving any passers-by the pretence of not encircling anything of interest. The perimeter fence itself stands to a height of 2 meters above ground. In accordance with gamma-grade protocolls, the standard subterranean incursion prevention measures apply, including motion sensors, infrared cctv-cameras

These were installed after the events detailed in incident report II. The safeguards are mainly intended to avoid external tampering or unauthorized personell entering the site, but have been deemed sufficient to contain SCP-XXXX.¹

As part of its containment procedure, SCP-XXXX is to be fed daily between five and six pm CET. Each feeding must consist of approximately 50-100 grams of canned salmon or tuna. Typically a smaller portion is required, but at times the subject may indicate that it wants the full 100 grams after having finished the initial serving.

In addition, a separate serving of 30-50 grams of generic dry cat food is to be kept available at all times at the feeding area.² The canned food must be served in the presence of SCP-XXXX. The dry food however may be replenished at any time and left unattended so long as it does not run out.

As a precautionary measure, the use of vacuumcleaners anywhere on site █ is strictly prohibited. Any and all activities involving any noice louder than 60dB on site █ are subject to pre-approval by Dr Haugen.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears as a male grey-coloured Norwegian forest cat (Felis Catus), approximately eight years of age and weighing around 7 kilos. Veterinary inspection of SCP-XXXX has determined it to have no measurable physical properties to significantly set it apart from an ordinary cat of the same breed, nor explain its unique abilities. For the duration of its containment, the subject has not displayed any signs of ageing significantly.

If handled incorrectly, SCP-XXXX will manifest a sonic dissonance of massive power, causing physical, structural and psychological damage to its surroundings. This has lead to its permanent containment at site █.

SCP-XXXX was first discovered in 201█ when foundation operatives were alerted to its existence during routine monitoring of the radio traffic of local law enforcement. Units were being dispatched to investigate what was described as an ongoing "sonic weapons malfunction" near site █. The foundation operatives proceeded to intervene and secure site █, whereupon SCP-XXXX was encountered. For additional details on discovery, see incident report I.

In the period between incident I and II, SCP-XXXX was monitored extensively on-site under leadership of Dr Haugen. The conclusion was that SCP-XXXX poses no immediate threat, so long as containment protocolls are maintained.

Since the events of incident II, it has been theorized that SCP-XXXX might be able to consciously use its abilities in what can best be described as self-defense, containment procedures notwithstanding. However, as only one instance of such a possible scenario has ever been recorded (see incident report II), and no testing of this theory has yet been deemed feasible, the theory remains unsubstantiated.

After incident III, all access to site █ even for ranking personell is severely restricted.

Addendum A: Rough description of a full-scale event

From the limited data gathered from witness accounts post incident I-III, no in-depth analysis of an event involving SCP-XXXX has been possible. A rough outline of an event is as follows:
SCP-XXXX:s behaviour will for the most part resemble that of any ordinary Norwegian forest cat. However, at feeding time (noted to occur daily at any time between 5pm and 6pm CET, never earlier or later) SCP-XXXX will interrupt any previous activity and make its way to the feeding area. Once there, it will initially sit by its food bowls with its head raised expectantly. SCP-XXXX will in these instances ignore any food already in the feeding area that isn't served while in its presence. If no food is served, SCP-XXXX will become increasingly agitated as the time approaches 6pm. The initial levels of agitation have been noted as significantly lower if there is dry food available, even if the subject does not consume any.

The subject will eventually start pacing back and forth, usually between its food bowls and the entrance to the feeding area, or jump up onto the kitchen counter and then down again. If a human is present in the feeding area, SCP-XXXX will approach the human whilst emitting repeated low meowing sounds. It will then continue circling the human, emitting ever more desperate meows.

At precisely 6pm CET, SCP-XXXX will immediately cease its previous activities and stops exhibiting any signs of anxiety. The subject promptly sits down, raises its head, and starts emitting the noice.

The noice is initially described as being similar to that which an ordinary house cat might make under extreme duress, but much louder. An estimation indicates that the sound starts at approximately 100dB (roughly equivalent to the sound of an ambulance siren at close proximity), but then escalates to around 125-130dB within the initial five to ten seconds of the event. Even this early in the event, exposure to the noice is painful and will quickly cause permanent hearing damage. Standard civilian-grade hearing protection only has limited effect beyond this point.

The level of noice will then continue to rise gradually, seemingly without end. It has not been possible to measure the maximum level of the noice, if such a level exists, as most electronic equipment (including measuring devices) starts to malfunction upon approaching the area of the event. However, it must be assumed that during a full-scale event the loudness is in excess of 190dB. The noice is continuous and uninterrupted for the duration of the event, indicating that SCP-XXXX does not need to breathe or pause whilst making it.

Witnesses to the events involving SCP-XXXX describe the nature of the noice differently, but always as causing discomfort or pain even when experienced at a significant distance. Some witnesses describe the effect of hearing the noice as similar to what certain individuals experience when hearing nails scraping across a chalkboard. Witnesses who are parents describe a psychological trauma, comparing the emotional effect of hearing the noice to that of hearing your infant child cry out in pain whilst being unable to to soothe it.

Depending on the proximity to the event, witnesses have presented various levels of bodily harm from the effects of the event. Apart from near universal hearing loss and or permanent hearing damage, witnesses have also experienced a range of afflicitons ranging from pain and nausea to the malfunction of medical augments (such as pacemakers, insulin pumps or hearing aids), internal bleeding, or even fillings dislodgeing from teeth.

Whilst the event is ongoing, SCP-XXXX:s sonic emissions will continue to cause more drastic effects. After incident I, glass was reported to have shattered at distances of up to 2,5 kilometers from the event. This even included the windshields and rearview mirrors of cars. Local wildlife flees in panic, or simply collapses and die due to stress. During incident II the seismic activity in the radius of the event was measured to reaching an estimated 5.2 on the richter scale before the event ended. Trees and plants started wilting, shedding leaves and branches breaking as if exposed to extreme winds.

As soon as an event ends, all effects seem to abate almost instantly. However, as mentioned above, many witnesses report some degree of psychological trauma. Post incident III, these effects could be consistently measured in surviving witnesses as detailed in Addendum B.

SCP-XXXX appears completely unaffected by the effect of the sonic dissonance it creates, and demonstrates ordinary hearing for a cat.

+ Addendum B: Psychological effects

Addendum B: Psychological effects in witnesses to event III involving SCP-XXXX
Whilst conducting interviews with survivors of incident III, Dr Hill discovered persisting psychological effects on the survivors. During the interview with subject W, the subject was asked to write down his name and adress on a piece of paper. The subject attempted to comply, but upon inspection Dr Hill discovered that the subject had instead written FEED THE CAT in capital letters. When confronted, the subject indicated surprise at this, believing himself to have written his name and adress.

As Dr Hill continued his interviews, he found similar results in all survivors. The closer to the vicinity of the event, the more exposed to the noice, the stronger the lasting psychological effect. Subjects who had been closer to the epicenter of the event were unable to write anything except FEED THE CAT. Subjects who had less exposure to the noice could manage to write coherently about other subjects if allowed to concentrate completely on that task. Upon the slightest distraction subjects would immediately revert to repeating the words FEED THE CAT over and over.

These effects were noted to recede over time, eventually disappearing completely. Administrating class B amnestics to a subject completely removes the effects.
