Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-B is kept under heavy surveillance by a combination of on-site security personnel and video cameras. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A attempting to breach the perimeter surrounding SCP-XXXX-B are to be captured and removed by any means necessary. SCP-XXXX-B has been outfitted with an automatic security system designed to lock down the anomaly and prevent entry. Any civilians caught trespassing near SCP-XXXX-B are to be administered Class-B amnestics.

Description: SCP-XXXX refers to an intangible entity that infects Chesapeake Blue Crabs (Callinectes sapidus) exclusively in the state of New Jersey. Crabs that are affected by SCP-XXXX will hereafter be known as SCP-XXXX-A. The entity requires physical contact to spread, and it is theorized that 75% of the New Jersey C. sapidus population is affected by SCP-XXXX. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A exhibits signs of higher cognitive functions and higher problem solving skills compared to non-anomalous individuals of its species. This is theorized to occur to help SCP-XXXX succeed in its primary anomalous effect. SCP-XXXX-A will cease anomalous properties if brought outside of the borders of the state of New Jersey.

SCP-XXXX’s primary anomalous effect manifests whenever it grasps a sharp object, in which it will migrate towards SCP-XXXX-B. SCP-XXXX-A has so far lacked any need to perform any normally required biological function, such as resting or eating.

Any living organism in the kingdom Animalia larger than itself that inhibit SCP-XXXX-A from reaching SCP-XXXX-B will be thought of as a threat and be attacked with the object that SCP-XXXX-A obtained. The attack will continue until the animal that SCP-XXXX-A proceeds as a threat is at least 10 meters away from SCP-XXXX-A.

SCP-XXXX-B is a house in ██████, New Jersey in a state of severe disrepair. Local county records do not show any individual posessing ownership of the building. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A that make visual contact with SCP-XXXX-B will attempt to enter it by any means necessary. Instances have been observed to use there claws and their weapons to forcefully enter SCP-XXXX-B.

Once an instance of SCP-XXXX-A has gotten inside of SCP-XXXX-B, they and the weapon they were holding will disappear from SCP-XXXX-B. If they survive and where they go is currently not understood. If someone is already in the house, they will stay within the house until everyone has exited the house.

Addendum XXXX.1: Recently, there has at least 13 different cases of instances of SCP-XXXX-A exiting the house, always in groups. Usually they will focus their travel to retail units. All 13 groups have so far attempted to steal food from these units. Successful groups will travel back to SCP-XXXX-B and disappear in the same way other instances of affected crabs will.

11 of these cases had yielded instances with implications of highly modified DNA and appearances, often becoming all around larger and faster. One instance showed weak, highly unstable wings yielding only minimal hovering abilities.

Incident XXXX-14-A: At 6/8/2018, An aquatic cavern was found at the coast of New Jersey. It became notable for holding over a thousand individuals of Chesapeake Blue Crabs, soon discovered to be instances of SCP-XXXX-A. To note is that 90% of instances had some sort of mutation, often much more extreme then the ones discovered earlier. A large amount of weapons were found, including swords, axes, and spears.

After roughly 30 minutes after first being discovered, the cave and SCP-XXXX-B simultaneously demanifested, and all SCP-XXXX-A not inside of the cave lost their anomalous capabilities. 4 people, which were in the cave, dissapeared with the demanifestation. Changes to the Special Containment Procedures are pending.
