Special Containment Procedures: Road Blocks are to be placed at every entry into the affected town, and MTF Epsilon-6 "Village Idiots" are to patrol a 5 kilometer area around the town and control the road blocks. These special containment procedures are to last from October 1 to November 12. Any unauthorized personnel that attempt to enter are to be detained, administered class-A amnesiacs, and transferred to a safe location until SCP-4185 is no longer affecting the area.
Description: SCP-4185 is a town filled with "living" Halloween decorations designated SCP-4185-1. Each year SCP-4185 will be a different town in the █████████ region of Ontario Canada every year. These decorations can be anything from skeletons, Jack'o'lanterns, witches, insects, and other decorations set out by the inhabitants of the town for Halloween.
SCP-4185 only affects towns with a maximum population of 10,000 residents and a minimum of 2,000 residents, including any houses within about 1.3 kilometers of the town in question. Any instance of SCP-4185-1 taken outside of this radius will begin deteriorating at a rapid rate until they become their base components. Any normal decorations brought within this radius will become SCP-4185-1 and will experience the same affects that any other instance of SCP-4185-1 would go through in any situation.
SCP-4185-1 instances show signs of sentience, even objects that should not be sentient, such as Jack'o'lanterns. These objects are never hostile, even if attacked they will choose to avoid the threat as opposed to defending themselves, and if cornered they will rapidly deteriorate into their base components. SCP-4185-1 will attempt to entertain humans by dancing, making lights brighter, ██████, and by attempting to scare people which is the most common form.
Residents of the affected town are to be designated SCP-4185-2 and will not attempt to make any interaction with Foundation personnel, SCP-4185-1, or other instances of SCP-4185-2. They will wander aimlessly, only eating and drinking enough to survive until SCP-4185 is no longer affecting their town. The residents will have no memory of the event but will almost universally be suffering from severe malnutrition.
Any Instance of SCP-4185-2 taken out of the radius of SCP-4185 will attempt to return, showing extreme strength and agility. If an instance of SCP-4185-2 is outside of the radius of SCP-4185 after it no longer affects the town will begin to ██████. Anyone that enters the town who was not in the affected area when SCP-4185 first manifests will experience nothing out of the ordinary.
After SCP-4185 stops affecting an area all instances of SCP-4185-1 will go back to their normal state.
Addendum, ██/010/19██: The affected area around SCP-4185 has been steadily increasing by an averace of 52.86 centimeters each year, which is a cause for concern. When we first discovered SCP-4185 it only affected about 10 meters around the town, but now it almost reaches a kilometer. This is very concerning because we can't find any way to stop this advance. I am formally requesting that SCP-4185 be classified Euclid. -Dr. Ross
Conclusion: While SCP-4185 is not dangerous, it's steady increase in size is concerning. Dr.Ross' request has been denied.
