Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a Standard 3 m x 3 m x 3 m Concrete Containment Unit at Site [REDACTED]. SCP-XXXX's Cell is to be furnished with three(3) perches of varying height, generic bird toys, and a plastic see-through nesting box. SCP-XXXX should be provided a variety of softwood sticks. No sticks capable of forming a point should be given to SCP-XXXX. Any walls SCP-XXXX builds up in its nesting box are to be removed, so that SCP-XXXX is visible at all times. No perches, toys, or any decorations that allow for cover are allowed in SCP-XXXXs cell for any reason, as these may influence SCP-XXXX to adapt predatory stalking behaviors.

SCP-XXXXs cell should be cleaned, restocked, and checked for any unrecorded behavior from SCP-XXXX, on a daily basis. SCP-XXX is to be fed ██████ Brand Parrot food, as SCP-XXXX will reject all other foods. All handling of SCP-XXXX must only be carried out by any of the Three(3) D-Class Personnel designated appropriate for SCP-XXXs care, these three(3) personnel will be referred here on forth as "Caretakers". Caretakers are always to be used for any and all care of SCP-XXXX, with this rule only being broken in the case all Three(3) caretakers are deceased/incapacitated or any other emergencies declared by personnel possessing Level 4 Clearance or higher.

All Caretakers are to fulfill one(1) or more of the following criterion:

  • Missing both eyes or has total blindness.
  • Missing an olfactory bulb or has Anosmia.
  • Missing the Tympanic Membrane, Middle ear, and inner ear, or any other condition that causes the subject to be completely deaf.
  • Missing all taste buds in the mouth or has Ageusia

Subjects with Analgesia are under consideration for use, experimentation ongoing. Absolutely no subjects with Analgesia may be used as caretakers or subjects for experimentation. All study on SCP-XXXXs relationship with Analgesia patients is too be ceased immediately and is banned until further notice. See Experiment Log ███████████.

Three(3) Class-D Personnel fulfilling the criteria are to be assigned to become caretakers of SCP-XXXX. One(1) of the three(3) caretakers is to be assigned solely to the care of SCP-XXXX and is to be deemed essential unless declared otherwise. The other two(2) caretakers are permitted to preform other safe tasks around the facility, however, the caretakers must not be used for the care or experimentation of other Anomalous objects/entities.

During a Site-Wide Containment Breach, SCP-XXXX is to be designated as low priority for re-containment. SCP-XXXX has been observed as moving through the facility purely out of curiosity of what the rest of the facility contains. All movement towards exits are purely coincidental, as SCP-XXXX has shown no interest in escape of the facility, only one(1) recorded instance of SCP-XXXX attempting to escape its cell exists, but no attempts of escaping the facility have occurred.

Decription: SCP-XXXX is a male Corvus corax (Common Raven) with little physical distinction with its non-anomalous counterparts. So far SCP-XXXX appears to possess intellectual functions on the same level of its species. SCP-XXXX has shown human levels of curiosity, is capable of reading, and basic tool use. Due to its newly discovered intelligence, SCP-XXXX is redesignated as Euclid.

The talons of SCP-XXXX are capable of causing local paralysis in selected areas, mostly the face. SCP-XXXXs beak is coated with a currently unknown corrosive substance. This substance allows for SCP-XXXX to break down tissue and reach deeper portions of its prey's body. Both of these anomalous properties allow for SCP-XXXX to systematically maim its prey.

When coming into contact with SCP-XXXX, it will either maintain its normal behavior as a Common Raven, or will attempt to preform its maiming of the prey item it is presented with. SCP-XXXX will only preform its maiming if the subject is Mammalian or Avian, as it seems incapable of operating on subjects not sharing similar anatomy to itself or mammals.

SCP-XXXXs "Organized Maiming" generally is a planned act rather than one of instinct. This "Maiming" begins with SCP-XXXX grappling its preys face, with its claws piercing the skin of the subject. Once the subject opens its mouth, SCP-XXXX will paralyze the victims' face allowing for the rest of its maiming to continue. First SCP-XXXX will consume the entirety of eye, including the optical nerve. Once done with the eyes, SCP-XXXX will break through the cribriform plate of the subject, and will consume the olfactory bulb. SCP-XXXX will then move on to consume all contents of the middle ear and inner ear. Finally, SCP-XXXX eats the tongue, and [REDACTED] to remove the remaining taste buds inside the subjects mouth.
Helmets will not prevent SCP-XXXX from attempting its maimings, as it will peck through the helmet and any protective gear in its way.

Currently this maiming behavior is believed to be sadistic or pleasure based, rather than any sustenance oriented goal. This conclusion is further solidified by that fact that SCP-XXXX will ignore any second subject in the containment cell during, and after, the maiming process.

While SCP-XXXX holds no anomalous capabilities of invoking negative mental states, however, its maimings will cause severe mental trauma to the subject. This trauma combined with the lack of sensory input leaves the subject in a state of psychosis or devolves them into little more than a husk.

The Ethics Committee has required for the following Euthanasia process to be offered to the subject after being subjected to SCP-XXXXs maiming:
The testing subject will be informed of the Euthanasia process beforehand.
Once the subject is fully maimed by SCP-XXXX, security personnel are allowed to press their hand to the forehead of the subject.
The subject must nod to confirm an answer of yes or no.
If yes, security personnel must immediately terminate the subject via gunshot to the head.
If no, security personnel must back off immediately.

SCP-XXXX came under the care of the Foundation after a large homeless camp was found with all inhabitants having been maimed by SCP-XXXX. The remnants of the camp still stand in ███████, Germany.

The original owner of SCP-XXXX is a local homeless man raised in ███, Germany. He was found to be both blind and deaf. However, there is no reason to believe that SCP-XXXX had any involvement in his disabilities. The man appears to have had no education as a child and was incapable of speech upon recovery. As of 12/06/201█, he is under the care of "[REDACTED] care for the Disabled". Agent [REDACTED] is to maintain contact with him under the guise of a nephew of the man. In the case the man learns speech and begins to discuss SCP-XXXX, Emergency protocol "Silence of the Songbird" is to be carried out.
