Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5402 is to be kept in a room 9 meters in height and 4 meters in width. This is to supply optimal space for SCP-5402-1 instances to fly around SCP-5402. No electronics or light-emitting objects, such as phones or flashlights, should come into a 0.5 km radius of SCP-5402. If testing requires visual information, a Class-D equipped with an EPA Level A radiation suit and a camera inside of the suit will be sent to SCP-5402's containment chamber.
The containment chamber of SCP-5402 is to be lined with a layer of 10cm thick, radiation-resistant, nickel-cobalt-chromium alloy. This alloy should be inspected weekly to check for any major deterioration of the lining. The structural integrity of SCP-5402's containment cell should be inspected weekly. If any sizable deterioration is found, the containment chamber should be immediately repaired by 1 group of 10 D-Class Personnel.
If the containment chamber breaks due to internal/external/natural causes, such as earthquakes, raids, or the deterioration of the radiation-resistant alloy-lined chamber, the whole of Site-5█ should be evacuated and any electronics in a 0.5km radius must be removed.
To re-contain SCP-5402 and SCP-5402-1, 5 divisions of 10 Class-D Personnel will be equipped with EPA Level A Radiation Suits and Geiger counters. Each division of Class-D Personnel will switch out every 10 minutes of construction on SCP-5402's containment chamber. The time it will take for the process to be completed varies, based on the damage to the chamber.
If the D-class Personnel who worked on the containment chamber shows major signs of radiation sickness, they should be neutralized as ordered, by the Ethics Committee.
Description: SCP-5402 is a football stadium floodlight measuring 7.9 meters in height. The object has a brightness of about 52,500 lumens and was manufactured by ███-█████ on 5/12/1989. SCP-5402 has the anomalous ability of never needing to release energy in any form. Because of this, when SCP-5402 was activated for the first time, it emitted a permanent amount of photons around itself. These photons are classified as SCP-5402-1 instances.

SCP-5402-1 instances are collections of photons numbering to an amount of Five Quintillion Fifty Quadrillion1. The photons are seen to cluster in 119 separate groups of roughly 42.4 trillion photons each. These clusters exhibit behavioral patterns similar to that of insects, which suggests that SCP-5402-1s are a hive mind species made entirely out of photons. These photons emit anomalous waves of energy that have wavelengths similar in size to Ultra-high-energy gamma rays. These waves make any object it is exposed to, other than SCP-5402 itself or any other affected object, decay at the atomic level. When this happens, the objects emit incredibly harmful radiation similar to that of polonium. This means that anyone standing in an area of approximately 0.78 kilometers around SCP-5402-1 instances, without wearing special radiation suits, will be exposed to enough radiation in 5 minutes, to kill them in at least a month. For this reason, no one without O5 clearance may enter the containment chamber of SCP-5402.
SCP-5402-1 groups are similar to multicellular organisms, as the photons in each group perform specific tasks. Tasks are assigned by wavelength size. For instance, The photons on the outside of the groups, all have wavelengths the size of 1.2 × 10−7 attometers. It is theorized that these photons emit this specific wavelength so that they can maneuver in the air more easily. Below are all known photons in SCP-5402-1 instances. Photon types are classified as P-1 through P-5.
SCP-5402-1 Instances have been found to shut off any electronics and light-emitting objects, such as flashlights, it comes into contact with. This information was found after all cameras failed inside SCP-5402's containment chamber when activated for the first time. Following this discovery, tests were performed to gain information on what type of electronics and light-emitting objects SCP-5402-1 instances disabled.
Addendum 5402.1: Discovery
SCP-5402 was discovered on 7/28/1991 in the now-abandoned ███████ █████████ football stadium after reports of 273 people in the area dying from severe radiation sickness and the stadium falling apart decades before it was planned to. Investigators equipped with radiation suits were sent to the stadium where they cut SCP-5402 from the ground and loaded it onto a rig disguising as a Walmart truck. SCP-5402 was transported to Site-5█ while researchers formed special containment procedures for SCP-5402. 2 investigators and the driver of the rig died 3 months after containment of the SCP.
