Special Containment Procedures:

Containment Procedures of SCP-5257 are as follows. The SCP is contained in a 5 by 5 foot cement cell with 2 armored doors between the room and the hall. No personnel is allowed access to the room and it is under 24 hour surveillance by camera and 2 armed guards placed at the entrance. To prevent infection from the "calling" effects of SCP-5257 guards are switched out every 2 days and amnesiacs are administered if felt necessary by either the guards or the research staff.

If SCP-5257s containment is broken it is advised that all noncombatant personnel shelter in place unless they hold personal connections to the wearer in which case they are urged to coax the wearer out of the armor as it was found they can possibly influence the wearer into removing the armor.

In case of a site wide containment breach guards of SCP-5257 are urged to wear the armor if necessary. SCP-5257 is permitted to be used if the situation of the containment breach is deemed unstoppable and it is only to be used as a last resort before full destruction of the site.

Due to the similar mental effects SCP-5257, SCP-035 is never allowed to be stored within the same site as SCP-5257. It is also recommended that the SCP be kept away from SCP-049, SCP-073 and
SCP-076 and any other humanoid SCPs that could wear the armor.

The armor is allowed used by some expendable personnel in the event that it is needed. In the case of a world ending event or containment breaches that pose great threat to the populous the used of SCP-5257 has been allowed to deter these threats but this protocol code named "Protocol Leonidas" needs approval from the 05 council as well as the site director or highest ranking staff member at the location of the threat.

Description:

SCP-5257 nicknamed "The Infinite Soldier" is a safe class object that is currently contained at Site-17. The SCP is under strict surveillance and no personal is allowed access unless given direct permission by the O5 council.

SCP-5257 was discovered during the Vietnam War by the United States Government and was quickly reported to the Foundation. It was discovered following the Mai Lai Massacre in 1968 when a soldier went on a rampage of innocent civilians. The incident caught the attention of the Foundation as the soldier was thought to be invincible and fighting with a rage that could not be stopped. Upon further inspection it was found that the soldier was wearing a new armor that he had found at his base and proceeded to put on describing the experience as being "drawn to it". The armor was quickly confiscated and it was found that when removed from the soldier it reverted to an ancient armor possibly Spartan in design.

After further testing it was found that the SCP drew capable soldiers towards it with guards describing "voices" in their heads whispering to wear the armor. In the years following the Mai Lai incident the Foundation found it appropriate to begin testing the armor in controlled environments using D-Class personnel to study unseen effects of the armor. It was quickly found after the death of 10 D-Class in an experiment that the armor chooses the strongest fighter and induces a blood rage altering the mental state of the wearer severely. It was also found in this experiment that the SCP will transform itself into the armor of the current era as it seemed to transform from its Spartan state into modern combat armor. The single surviving D-Class of this experiment collapsed and died a few hours following the experiment.

The researchers involved created a theory and tested it on 10 more D-Class in the following months. From this continued testing it was found that the SCP will slowly deteriorate the wearers internal organs whether the subject continues to wear the armor or has removed it. While wearing the armor the wearer also has appeared to enter a state of blood rage, invincibility and incredible strength. Wearers who have survived wearing the armor (though they died in the following days due to its effects) have described upon wearing the armor they are instilled with the knowledge of thousands of ancient soldiers, some D-Class have even said they were influenced by the spirit of Leonidas or Caesar. These reports are unconfirmed as the subjects are in a frenzied state upon removing the armor.

In the early 21st Century it was permitted to attempt testing on higher level personnel while monitoring brain functions. For the subject of this test MTF team Hades-257 was called onto site. The goal of the test was to see if there was a difference in effect between the previously used D-Class and highly trained soldiers. The test ended yielding fantastic results, the soldier used in the test was shown within the first moments of the test to be in higher levels of control than prior subjects. Hades-257-A1 was fully aware of the effects of the armor and seemingly not entering a blood rage state which had been observed previously. Researchers decided to begin questioning saying, "Hades-A1 how do you feel?"

"empowered….everything feels lighter" responded A1

"Lighter? can you describe that feeling more?" questioned the researcher

"like I can do anything there is no weight on my shoulders" said A1

"Do you feel the influence of anyone or anything other than the 'light'" asked the researcher

"Yea its like voices whispering all around telling me how to win there are thousands of them" Said A1

"Alright I think that answers all the questions we have for now you can remove the armor A1" said the researcher

The armor was then removed by A1 and the researcher then noted and confirmed the existence of these "voices". Hades-A1 was later found attempting to regain access to the holding cell of 5257 and was shot and killed by on-site personnel after refusing to stand down. All testing of 5257 was halted after this incident and all access to the object had to be authorized by a project director or the O5 council themselves. SCP-5257 was confirmed to grant the wearer near invincibility, inducing a blood rage in untrained subjects and what was only described as "knowledge of all past soldiers". It was also found to create a druglike dependability in the case of Hades-A1. It has been permitted to be used in the case of a site wide containment breach if no other options are available. Otherwise SCP-5257 is on full lockdown at all times.

Addendum:

The following is notes of a researcher from a small containment breach which led to the death of 7 Onsite MTF team members and the injuring of 4 researchers.

*23:45, February 1, 2004 Agent Luck enters containment chamber of SCP-5257 after incapacitating 2 armed guards with a small electrical stun device.

*1:45, Agent Luck exits the chamber to see MTF team and onsite security waiting for him

*2:13, Agent Luck is slowly deteriorating inside the suit while continuing to fight the MTF squads

*3:21, Agent Luck gives in to the armor and collapses dying at 3:48 due to heart failure

*Note: Agent Luck survived longer than all prior tests using D-Class as subject will request permission to study new theory: trained subjects can wield SCP-5257 effectively.
