Hume Pillars

Containment Procedures:

Description: SCP is a spatial anomaly located in the Desert. SCP’s climate mirrors the local region, with temperature ranges of [REDACTED]. The typography inside SCP constantly fluctuates through multiple variations of natural formations that closely resemble sections of the southwestern United States. Multiple formations have been seen to take place at once. Due to the inconsistent typography inside of SCP, transportation is both inconsistent on the basis of reliability and time. Celestial bodies within SCP have been seen to spontaneously jump in size and position, however, no noticeable effects have been recorded due to this phenomenon. (See addendum [number].2 for further details).

Addendum S.1: Approximately 85 kilometers inside of SCP’s area of effect are multiple dimensional tears, referred to as B for the remainder of the document. -B instances resemble tall cylindrical formations that extend to an unknown altitude. -B structures are categorized into three (3) distinct classes known as X, Y, Z (See Addendum [assigned number].2 for further details). While every -B structure hume level varies in their respective categories up to n/±7.92, this does not change the overall effect they have on the respective reality around them.

Upon further inspection of the effects of SCP on the native hume field, -B instances greatly alters the hume density. The entirety of SCP’s hume level is in constant fluctuation.

Addendum S.2:

Type of SCP-B Discription
SCP-XB SCP-XB is a low hume variant of an -B structure. SCP-XB instances will draw in hume from nearby sources, however, the effects are unnoticeable to most sapient entities. Due to the loss of hume, the areas affected by SCP-X are prone to greater spatial anomalies, known to cause mutilation and death in extreme cases. Foundation personnel is advised to avoid affected areas if a Scranton Reality Anchor is not available.
SCP-YB SCP-YB is a high hume variant of an -B structure. SCP-YB acts similarly to a Scranton Reality Anchor in which it transports hume from its native reality to our reality. The area surrounding SCP-YB is prone to extreme jumps in hume level which in some cases, are able to completely annihilate personnel and foundation property. Due to this, the development of a negative variant of the Scranton Reality Anchor is underway and is expected to be completed in the year 2067.
SCP-ZB [DATA CORRUPTED]

On 13/11/1998, a series of expeditions in an attempt to map out SCP was launched for the purpose of furthering the understanding of SCP’s nature. During the fifth expedition, Agent ………… discovered that -B structures are actually dimensional tears after a mobile Kant counter was dislodged from her backpack, falling into an SCP-ZB instance. Upon retrieval via rope, the Kant counter’s logs depicted a previously unknown level of hume. Soon after, Foundation researchers tested hume levels up to +1985.32 inside SCP-B Instances.

SCP’s effects have recently become more volatile. Recent expeditions inside a Class Z SCP-B entity have discovered an alternate reality with hume levels of 3572.98, almost the theoretical limit! I have reason to believe that the area SCP affects is growing in size at an alarming rate. This discovery is of the utmost concern as if we don't figure out how to reliably contain SCP, it may consume the entirety of [REDACTED] by 2096. I don’t have to tell you what happens to matter when exposed to extreme hume levels, let alone one of n/+3572.98. If this is possible, who knows what could lie out there! A reality so empty and devoid of Aether that just existing could leave you scattered across its universe. I suggest you start taking this SCP more seriously.

On 13/11/2034, a standard Foundation Expedition Log was discovered 54.6 kilometers away from the epicenter of SCP. Analysis of the hume level of its exterior showed disruption by a factor of n/-3.48. The serial number attached to the Log’s database did not match any expedition number in Foundation knowledge at the point of discovery.

Due to this log being mandatory for every expedition member, enforced by possible demotion I might add, this will be my first and most likely last entry of the expedition. There is no reason why I should be required to do this as there are literally five separate accounts of what’s going on! Anyway, we are on a trajectory to intercept an SCP-ZB instance to hopefully find something useful other than dark rock. Joe seems more interested in his arsenal than the actual expedition which makes me think, was this really necessary? He probably knows all about the inner workings of this anomaly just from the random gossip he gets from the Security Department. There’s nothing much to say considering we’re only two hours in, and we’re in an empty desert. I probably won’t write another one of these unless something interesting happens. Oh yeah, HRs if you’re reading this, tell Diana to stop swapping out my chocolate chip granola bars for celery sticks. I get she’s the supposed “Team Leader” but that doesn’t give her the right to force me to eat celery sticks.

NOTICE: This is one in a series of automated messages in the event the SCP FOUNDATION can no longer function due to a YK End of the World Scenario. Reality no. 11.820.717649 is unable to sustain life and should not be entered. If your reality has not discovered interdimensional communication, instructions on how to create a Transmitter are listed below.
