Special Containment Procedures: Due to the nature of SCP-5162, containment is not currently possible.
Description: SCP-5162 is an entity that manifests as some kind of reptile made of snow, this SCP can range in sizes from 1.9 meters, the length of a common car, up to 828 meters, the size of the Burj Khalifa. SCP-5162 feeds on almost everything, despite the composition making nutritional gain impossible, let alone the inorganic materials which shouldn't give any nutrition or substance at all. The subject has been documented eating steel, concrete, wiper fluid, meat, bone, soil, and anything that isn't directly harmful to the composition of snow, such as anti-freeze, or anything that gives off too much heat.
SCP-5162 attacks at random during the winter months in the state of [REDACTED], which will be referred to as Area Sigma-12. No known pattern is used by this entity, and due to the unknown nature of this SCP, and the uncertainty of if it can go outside Area Sigma-12, it was given the Keter classification. And with how the entity attacks, Procedure 5162 Alpha was implemented to subdue the anomaly when it manifests, see Addendum 5162-A. SCP-5162 disappears after either being destroyed, or after 1 hour of being active.
SCP-5162 appears to have an anomalous property which affects everyone who doesn't wear some sort of bulletproof material within the area of the state it inhabits. This effect blocks any memories of the anomaly from being accessed by anyone who witnessed it during it's attacks. This seems to be a method to make sure the state remains populated and actively repaired from any damages it causes. While it's unknown why it doesn't effect any subject wearing bulletproof materials it is advantageous to the foundation. The civilians of the area have agreed that all attacks by the anomaly are caused by natural disasters, such as tornados or earthquakes.
Addendum 5162-A: Procedure 5162-Alpha is to be carried out by MTF Eta 2 "Frost Fighters" whenever SCP-5162 manifests. The procedure itself is an attempt to attack and subdue SCP-5162 using a combination of flamethrowers, anti-freeze, and incendiary bombs. If the situation calls for it, helicopter mounted flamethrowers and incendiary weapons are authorized for use to attempt to subdue the anomaly. Should this fail to destroy SCP-5162, all civilians are to be evacuated to the safe distance of at minimum, 45 meters away.
Addendum 5162-B: Given the possibility of SCP-5162 being able to destroy a whole country if given the correct size and opportunity, permission has been given to use an alpha warhead on the anomaly if all containment efforts fail.
Addendum 5162-C: A sample of SCP-5162 was taken to research lab [REDACTED]. When the sample was put under various tests it was revealed to just be regular snow, aside from the anomalous properties it was just snow with only slight anomalous properties to make it more resistant to such things as liquids that would melt normal snow, such as water or oil.
