A picture of a gargoyle at the Rouen Cathedral, similar to SCP-XXXX.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell. In the event of a containment breach, a group of 2 or more people is required to lure it back to containment.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a sentient, bipedal humanoid creature comprised of stone1, with well-defined muscles and sharp talons extending from each fingertip, and large, bat-like wings which protrude from its back below the shoulder blades (they do not appear to be functional). Its face resembles that of a human with an extended snout and large teeth, with particularly long cuspids. SCP-XXXX stands at exactly 2 meters tall, with its wings adding an additional 0.5 meters to its overall height. The surface below the neck of SCP-XXXX is covered with multiple striations and scorch marks, along with sections of dried limestone cement, indicating an attempt at some sort of repair. SCP-XXXX is capable of movement, but its means of doing so are unknown.

SCP-XXXX possesses multiple anomalous properties. When in the presence of a group of 2 or more humans, SCP-XXXX will choose a target at random. If not directly observed by the target, SCP-XXXX will proceed to move to approximately 1 meter behind the target and begin to mimic them (e.g. moving its jaw to emulate talking, moving its arms while talking, walking), cartoonishly exaggerating its motions. If the target turns to observe SCP-XXXX, locomotion will cease2, often positioning itself threateningly. If the target directly insults SCP-XXXX while not observing it, SCP-XXXX will form a scowling expression on its face, and expectorate a short stream of water that soaks the target. Proceeding this action, SCP-XXXX will sometimes make motions that emulate laughter.

SCP-XXXX seems to have a particular fondness for birds of the genus Columba3, and Columbidae seem to lack any fear of SCP-XXXX, even if approached by it. If any human inflicts harm to a Columbidae in the general vicinity of SCP-XXXX, it will lose interest in any target to pursue the person who harmed the bird. It will approach this new target quickly, regardless of the target observing it. If its quick movement does not scare the target into fleeing, it will pick up the target, and move them to at least 15 meters away from the injured Columbidae.

If an injured Columbidae is in the general vicinity of SCP-XXXX, it will proceed to lean over the injured bird, position its mouth directly over it, and leak water out of its mouth. The water that leaks out of the mouth of SCP-XXXX has healing properties, and the bird will be healed of any injury it had previous to exposure. This water appears to only affect Columbidae and does not seem to heal any other genus. Chemical analysis of the water shows that there is no difference between the water leaked by SCP-XXXX and normal water.

SCP-XXXX was discovered on 01/17/20██ in Rouen, France after a Foundation insider working for the local authorities received multiple calls from locals claiming a winged demon was following them. Foundation personnel was alerted and dispatched to capture SCP-XXXX shortly after.
