Longbyte.
Male. Verified post-human lifespan; 1500+ years of age. Varying appearance. Incredibly thin.
One of the most respected individuals in AO2. Plays the role of Admin (Responsible for creating Red Text Possessors).
Two contradictory sightings stand out. Once in company of Higher Power User, appearing as an extremely old man. Once in what appears to be security footage of an underground moderator base, appearing as a teenager.
[ERROR: UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS DETECTED]
You know why you're here.
They were never going to give you the whole story. Half of the truth can fool most people, most of the time. They'll just give you enough that you don't keep looking. Especially when it comes to the people with the most to hide.
One possible identity for the original Administrator.
Evidence strongly suggests that he was born ████ ███ in the late 1800s (possibly 1866). Certainly, one ████ ███ was a ███████ at ███████████ University in 18██, who disappears from the historical record after this year. This timeline doesn't match what we know of Longbyte's activity, but given his position and the reality-restructuring events that have occurred, it's entirely possible.
Rumor has it that he's Headshot's father.
Possesses their own Force, Moderators. They alternately act as the Higher Power Admin's best friend and an outright medieval inquisition, complete with 'disappearing' people who the Higher Power Admin disfavor.
People who have ultimate control over AO2. Unusual personalities with way too much power. They do not and cannot come into contact with any AO2 Weird entities. Mostly everyone is afraid of them. They know absolutely everything there is to know about AO2 and its activities.
Trey.
Male. Unknown descent. Unknown origin. Verified post-human lifespan; likely 300+ years of age. No unusual appearance.
Tends to be laid-back and jovial given the option. One of the more prominent Staff, relatively often seen in public. He creates funding for almost all Foundation projects. Habitually manipulates economies to AO2's benefit.
He is now said to have aged more than normal human could. He still survives, for now, but he rarely if ever takes any action on the Attorney Online Council. His secretary runs things for him, up to and including voting according to his wishes on Attorney Online Council matters.
stonedDiscord 🇩🇪.
Male. European descent. Unknown origin. Appears to be about 65. Formerly affiliated with the ██████████.
Rarely seen in public, but a very active member of Staff internally. Reputation for being somewhat dangerous to be around. Has survived a curious number of assassination attempts unscathed (with the assassins dead in the wake of the attempts); unusual that a Staff would both leave themselves vulnerable to so many attempts and also survive so many in such a manner.
Rarely seen in public.
The Rekter. [DEFECTED]
Male. European descent. Unknown origin. Appearance unknown.
The reason for his recruitment is unknown. Frequently rotates residence between multiple locations. Perhaps to deter spies?
Holds great interest towards the concept of "destroying reality". Sets aside a trust fund to research on counter-hacker strategy, essentially leading to the discovery of "AO HACKED GO HOME". Preparation against hacker threat?
Although not a mastermind of the "true" ok r gang, is likely significantly responsible for its success post-schism, for when he left, he took his connections with him. When The Rekter defected, the Higher Power wiped out all his operations and reassigned or terminated his remaining staff.
Possibly terminated by Higher Power; may simply working under deep cover.
They're not supposed to come into contact with fucked up entities, but in secret, sometimes they do. Who are they? Where did they come from? What secret goals are they striving towards? Either way, Moderators are the cornerstone of AO2. At the very least, they have AO2's best interests at heart… Maybe.
Headshot (The Coder).
Male. Unknown Origin. Rarely, if ever, directly seen.
The oldest surviving member of the OG Moderators. He survives only due to anomalous alteration and sheer willpower; partially of his body is a robot that he can code himself.
Rarely appears in public. When public appearances are necessary sends a stand-in. Works exclusively through bots. Has a somewhat frightening reputation; the other moderators members seem to be afraid of him.
Mack (The Fish).
Male. Southeast Asian descent. Unknown Origin. Appears to be 26 years old. Actual age unknown. Varying appearance.
Mack likes fish very much, that's why he is called The Fish among the moderator team.
Mack is apparently have second version of himself, Naegy, a holdover from an erased timeline.
Naegy is very different from the current Mack, who is aware of his alternate's status or identity.
The second oldest surviving member of the OG Moderators. Considered extremely dangerous, even compared to the other Moderators. Known for making tough, pragmatic decisions. Usually. A relatively active Moderator member at certain Area. Extremely loyal to the Higher Power. Came into his own after the series of incidents that included M███. May or may not be friendly and/or terrifying; is certainly blunt.
Rarely seen in public. Said to be the brother of The Vulture.
Dusk (The Eagle).
Female. Australian. Appears to be 19 if not 20+; almost certainly younger. Unknown significance, if any.
One of the longer-term members of the moderators. Described as morally scrupulous with her power, although with her heart in the right place, or at least near the right place. Generally friendly in demeanor in personal interactions, right up until she's not. Has an unusual interest in pun
A major thought leader in the Basement; possibly co-created the first iteration of the Basement. Possible foreknowledge an equivalent organisation?
The Meister.
Male. European Descent. Appears to be 15-17. Varying appearance; usually dresses in respectable, immaculate tailored clothing.
Origin of nickname uncertain; possibly an actual german master. Nickname is in common use; staff often joke about him "master of retards", but admit he is one of the most even-tempered people they've ever met.
Former Higher Power User. Prior to being elevated as the moderator, claimed he would implement a number of changes and improvements to AO2 policy; most of these did not materialize after his elevation.
Carlos (The Free man).
Male. Unknown descent. Unknown origin. Apparent age varies. Always attractive in appearance; tends to wear expensive clothing.
Ran a number of highly classified cross-testing experiments with the aim of creating useful methods. Nearly terminated several times. Believed to have been invited to join the moderator team. Anxious, uncertain, empathic, focused on logic.
I've heard that Higher Power Admin reached in and pulled his soul out from the void, pushed it back into his body and set him in motion again. "Too much work to do, Carlos" they told him. "Death can't have you yet.". Something they're pumping in him to keep him alive. Keep him working.
Keep him moving forward. Make him feel alive. But then he's out of his body and he's gone.
I'm not ready to die. I'm not ready to see my father or my brother again. I'm not ready for the things I've never known.
I want to live.
I want to live like a normal person.
I want to live like me.
I want to live like you.
mishu (The Ones).
Either male or gender-fluid (reports differ, may be relevant to traits). Unknown descent (reports differ, may be relevant to traits). Unknown origin. Age unknown. Appearance unknown.
Level-2 Moderator. Dedicated, friendly, prone to tunnel vision. Often in the field; excessively 'hands-on'. Reputation for saying aiueo. Restricted to underwater Basement facilities. May or may not still hold a Moderator position, but certainly plays a role regardless. mishu plays a "support" role within the Basement. Very empathetic. Sometimes considered "soft" and that's true, for a Moderator , but he's still well-trusted.
Pyraq.
Male. Descent/origin unknown. Head appears 20+. Wears thick-lensed glasses. Wears Thick Coat.
Apparently associated with the AO2 since its inception, though always in a supporting role, not at the top of the power structure. Special connection to the [DATA EXPUNGED] gives him a perspective no other moderator member could begin to fathom. While Normalcy Confirmation meetings require four members for quorum, no meeting is allowed to proceed without Pyraq's attendance.
Additionally, he is the only member of the original Moderator Member(AO2 Discord) to survive series of incidents that included M███.
The Sun. [DEFECTED]
Male (?). Unknown descent (apparently). Unknown origin. Unknown age.
Original identity unknown. Excessively friendly in personality. A relatively active moderator member at Newbie Hole. May have helped invent the new banning method. Convinced by other Moderator members to investigate making large groups of people profitable as well. The Sun is particularly shrouded in myth
Likes to join agents and moderator members during operations. Restless and does not like desktop jobs.
Defected for unknown reason.
Sen Bhapiro (The Megionate).
Male. Unknown descent. Unknown origin. Apparent age varies. Always attractive in appearance.
The Megionate is the AO2's chief disinformation agent. He organizes cover ups, invents cover stories, and creates rumors to be spread both within AO2 and without. After this, he couldn't simply be demoted; therefore, he was assigned to side projects. Believed to have been invited to join the Moderators Council only due to his knowledge of a "Epic banning method".
It's possible that this "The Megionate" is actually a separate figure, like the Administrator. Presently impossible to tell. Not much seen in public since. Possibly assassinated.
Hatman (The Hat).
Male. European descent. Unknown origin. Appeared to be 20+. No unusual appearance.
A relaxed, gentle man, despite his stern reputation. Not shy about appearing in public, or publicizing his projects. Joined the team in in the ████, shortly after ███ War █. Was the original person responsible for implementing psychological checkups of AO2 Moderators and Staff.
Did not reflect the mindset of his compatriots regarding use of ban command. Strongly opposed the use of ban command to use for threaten any user.
Knightingale (The Knight).
Female. Unknown origin. Appears to be mid-20s. No unusual appearance.
Developed a large number of training programs across AO2, many of which are still in use today in some form. A master tactician, charismatic, and fairly dangerous. Very little information exists on The Knight's role within the Foundation, except that he was an exceptional Moderator. Collaborated with the NH Army to eliminate the spammers.
Though this is unconfirmed, she may be one of the few Moderators members to retire; reports agree that her retirement (if it happened) was voluntary. Other circumstances unknown.
Kaede (The Piano/Keyboard).
Female. Asian descent. Asian origin. Appearance unknown.
Kaede is known for being kind and pacifist, though never arbitrarily; known for making important decisions. Kaede is one of several Moderators to focus on security. Notable in particular for expanding funding and recruitment; responsible for a general proliferation and expansion of Attorney Online after the destruction of [REDACTED] initially resulted in cutbacks. Professes unusually detailed knowledge of Higher Power Admin.
Said to have a relatively low-key personality, but prone to becoming slowly more aggressive as situations escalate; many underlings report that she is very pleasant to work with at first, but invariably sours relationships as they evolve over the years.
Navi.[RETIRED]
Male. American origin. Appearance unknown.
A relaxed, gentle man. Known for traveling with a large, truck. Known primarily for fathering a child in the mid or late [EXPUNGED], saving him in an ill-fated attempt. Most information has been expunged from accessible AO2 records.
Gained his position when forced to execute T█████, M███ and S█████ during an attempted hostile takeover of the AO2. Held the position reluctantly. Later retired under highly classified circumstances. Publicly, at least, said to have left as a hero.
Hun (The Vulture).
Male. Unknown Origin. Unknown Age. Appearance Varies.
Assisted Moderators in many ban of the Attorney Online's early spammers. The Vulture's significant roles was overseeing the rotation of new players. This rotation was publicly aimed at getting new perspectives for research and effective banning method.
Former top AO2 agent; other details of prior identity unknown (probable wipe). Professional yet genial. Reputation for high competency. Has backstory as a high-ranking official in a pre-Basement supernatural study organization. Not shy about appearing in public.
Believed to be the brother of The Fish.
May have strong-armed Moderator-partner into forming the Basement out of annihilation threat? But why? What do they possess?
We don't really know where he came from. We don't know who hired him. Hell, we don't know his face. What we do know is that he is an astonishingly loyal and skilled agent, no matter what assignment you give to them. -The Meister.
Myrine (The Cat).
Female. Southeast Asian descent. Unknown Origin. Appears to be 20+ years old. Actual age unknown. No unusual appearance except her cat ears.
Overly friendly and familiar in demeanor. One of the more prominent Higher Power Users, relatively often seen in public. Known to have some cat abilities due to some trainings, or "magic". "The Cat" may or may not be in possession of Basement property. Made a lifelong study of various methods of banning for Moderators to use. Has been known to occasionally travel with The Fish for unknown reasons.
A writer of some talent; known to write lore about AO2 Fanbase
Records claim she is dating with The Fish, despite she is called The Cat. A personal fact that few know: She does actually like fish and cat. But most of her usual reports consisted of Cat Facts.
Cats are believed to be the only mammals who don't taste sweetness. Cats are nearsighted, but their peripheral vision and night vision are much better than that of humans. A cat's nose has catnip receptors. > w <
Naegy.
Female. Asian descent. Unknown origin. Appears to be 20+ years old. Actual age unknown. No unusual appearance.
Naegy is apparently a second version of Mack, either a holdover from an erased timeline, or, perhaps, the original version of Mack. She resembles the current Mack in every way except his gender, age, and name: "Naegy".
Naegy has pushed repeatedly for a particular sweeping change to AO2 policy. So far, she has met with little success in this endeavor, due to strong opposition from other members of the Higher Power
Several of Naegy's discarded bodies — still possessing her personality and knowledge at time of separation from another timeline.
There are "plans" for Mack. Or were. Perhaps. Mack may or may not have been killed and brought back to life; he may or may not in fact be dead, though he is listed as active moderator and appears to be playing some kind of role within the AO2 regardless.
Zhantchai (The Fanta).
Male. Southeast Asian descent. Australian origin. Appears to be 18. Appearance varies.
One of the AO2's most experienced user. Involved in a number of classified basement projects. Obsessive, driven, often not eating or sleeping in favor of finishing tasks. Joined the Basement before finishing his schooling.
Does not speak much with others. Speech limited only by necessity. Another secret-keeper?
One of his first actions as a Higher Power User member was to approve of Doujin's plan to vore. This plan resulted in the breaching of multiple Doujin's vore speciment, including Doujin deliberately spamming. This incident appears to have lead to the Moderator-ordered assassination of Doujin by The Vulture. The Fanta, he was not removed from the Higher Power User over this.
Rarely seen in public.
The rumors that persist of The Fanta's strangely close involvement with Moderators are accurate. Seems to have been involved in a number of highly classified reality shifts. A centrally important figure to the Basement for a number of extremely secret reasons, some of which he doesn't know (or does not still remember) himself.
A person of interest to the Basement due to his research. Influenced far, far more of the Basement's fundamental doctrines than anyone is willing to admit. Under constant supervision due to several attempts to breach internal security.
Cray (The Crayfish).
Male. European descent. American origin. Mid-30s. Traditional in appearance.
The Crayfish plays the role of archivist and record-keeper. He acts as custodian of the records of previous iterations of the Basement and associated timelines. His specific identity has been extremely difficult to pin down.
These records show how many times Basement (or the timeline associated with Basement) has been severely damaged and "reset", and how many "resets" the AO2 has allowed, or stopped.
Solidly backed rumors name him as NH general or generals, possibly Lykos Sadbh, a general who fought during the NH Civil War.
The Crayfish has been a Higher Power User for several years. However, he has only recently become publicly active within the Basement.
Displays significant apprehension towards Doujin. Possible traumatic previous encounter with Doujin followers?
Cray actually knows so many things about some of the records he's maintaining, but has been able to bluff his way that he don't know that many.
In NH, he got involved with a more violent spammers █████, and after seeing they were willing to sacrifice ███████, which could lead to very violent thaumaturgical consequences. He practically ran to the Basement. Any rumors about ████████ are ████ and ███████.
Dr. Doujin. [REMOVED]
Female. European descent. Varying appearance; usually dresses in respectable, immaculate tailored clothing.
Doujin is a high-powered AO2 user, who has been installed in the Basement by the The Fish for direct control over certain secret matters. Opposed categorizing spammer as ban subject. To her, a spammer was a vore speciment.
The reason for her recruitment is unknown, given her complete lack of previous Higher Power User experience. Formerly ████ ███████, a noted ████████, she was inducted shortly after retracting a major publication and resigning in scandal. Professes irritation towards her employment under The Vulture.
Likely gone on the run from AO2. Possibly dead. May have been executed by The Vulture. (Rumors of execution by The Fish per Moderator order are certainly untrue. Almost certainly.)
May or may not have been executed by The Vulture; may simply working under deep cover. After her disappearance, a rumor spread that she had been a spy for the ██████ ██████, outed to the Basement after a falling out with her compatriots. This rumor has never been confirmed.
Nothing is certain.
-The Fish
Romeo (Seb): Originally captured as a Person of Interest in ██████, █████████ in mid-20██, and acted as a double agent for the Basement until he was officially employed in late-20██. Friendly and easy-going to the point of bordering fault. Easily recognized by his perma-stubble.
Nick Gurr: Highly prolific researcher. Cheery attitude and a good listener; looks out for his coworkers and interns like a bit of a mother hen sometimes. Joined the Basement after a classified drama that killed eleven people. Currently or formerly romantically linked with Dr. Doujin.
Came to AO2 attention via ██████, a person of interest to AO2 due to ██████ research. Considered a potential danger to the Basement under certain predicted future circumstances.
Agent Kumo (The Homosuck): Outspoken and personable in his youth, he served to provide an example of the Basement's newer, publicity-friendly attitude. One of the best-kept secrets in the AO2 is Kumo's high status within the Basement. Haunted by his experience, plagued by doubt, and possessing scant desire for power, Kumo is happy to keep his secret a secret.
Derp: More than anyone, the man who represents the old sins of AO2. Derp has received disciplinary action on multiple occasions due to a repeated pattern of unsanctioned and ill-conceived behavior. Has been deeply involved with research regarding a truly shocking number of spammers both major and minor. A figure of great influence in recent AO2 history.
Kyo: A young man of considerable creative potency, well-regarded member of NH. Alleged to be a Basement agent of an alternate timeline. There are conflicting documents as to what position he worked in, and to date paperwork has been found that associates him with the NH.
Supposedly he has died, but this information is conflicting as well. His remains were found at Courtroom 3. But he was also confirmed to be active around NH. Additionally, the body of a man from early in the AO2's history shares the name and DNA of modern records of Kyo. Little else is currently known about this figure.
Firefly: Gentleman-explorer, coming from unknown origin. Developed a remarkable reputation as a professional user and became an influential user before disappearing under murky circumstances. Firefly has been involved with AO2 for an unknown period of time. The type of loyalty he showed was more directly utilized. Currently believed to be in hiding, detained, or deceased.
Not even Firefly themself knows what they are. Most people don't think they're anything more than a normal person already, but Firefly especially can't be allowed to know this. At the very least, not until someone more qualified finds out.
Orangeman: In enlisting only a few months before secrecy was compromised, Orange never had a chance to experience AO2 away from the scrutinizing eye of Basement's surrounding towns. Publicity-friendly attitude. Obtained the 'Secret' from Basement's room for AO2 through unknown means. Now retired.
Booga: Dangerous user in the entire AO2 fanbase. A strong flair for the dramatic. Extremely controversial figure. Formerly associated with Carlos. Grew rivals on trees; most famously former rival of Derp.
Merc: She walks in the shadow of a great mankind, throughout her whole life and to this day, and she is none the wiser. Frequently called upon, Merc has made a name for herself in AO2 as a hard worker. Associates linked to a number of groups of interest, including the NH and the Basement (via a relative). Feels self-conscious about how Higher Power view her because of this.
Note that many things from this are picked from the original Personnel and O5 Dossier only for fun
