Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in locked titanium containment unit within a secure vault at Site-XX. SCP-XXXX is to be held facing up by means of an electronic clamp with a proximity sensor. This clamp is used to detect for any errors in containment, whether that be SCP-XXXX being dislodged or removed entirely. Only on-site personnel who are trained on SCP-XXXX's effects and are of Level 3 clearance or higher are permitted to enter SCP-XXXX's containment vault to unlock its containment unit and rescure the object.

Given the extreme nature of SCP-XXXX, the blade of SCP-XXXX is not to come into contact with any solid mass or objects with similar properties to the solid state of matter unless otherwise instructed for testing purposes. Further testing on SCP-XXXX with humans is prohibted following test log SCP-XXXX-B.(See Addendum SCP-XXXX-B1) Only personal with clearence from a Site Director will be permitted to test with SCP-XXXX after submitting a request. Testing is forbidden following Incident SCP-XXXX-C (See Addendum SCP-XXXX-C2)

Description: SCP-XXXX is a ███████ brand kitchen knife measuring 27 centimeters in length. It's comprised of a metallic blade and a pine wooden handle secured together with 2 bronze rivets. As of March 31st, 20██, the silver-like material in which the blade of SCP-XXXX is composed of is yet unidentified. However, analysis of SCP-XXXX's blade has determined that its metallic bond somehow is able to remain intact despite the blade's end being merely an atom in width. SCP-XXXX has the unique anomalous effect where upon contact with any solid state of matter SCP-XXXX will make a clean cut directly through the entire solid object resulting in 2 masses (herby referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2); even if SCP-XXXX's blade didn't directly come into contact with the other area cut. The way material manipulations are caused by SCP-XXXX in nanoscale dimensions is still yet unknown. SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects are amplified by its ability to cause objects that have been cut by SCP-XXXX to equalize into two identical masses, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2. Depending on size and where the object was split, the effect will differ. In response to a 50/50 divide, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 will simultaneously diminish in appearance but maintain their mass over the course of minutes to several hours depending on SCP-XXXX-1's and SCP-XXXX-2's original size. After the course of equalization has concluded, SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 will have manifested their lost halves, causing two identical but smaller scale versions of the original object. Testing done with objects that have been applied to SCP-XXXX's effects have been shown to be identical to each other. (See Test Log SCP-XXXX-A).

Foreword: The following police report is believed to be a description of SCP-XXXX.

Description of Incident: On ██/██/19███, at 19:23, ██████████ EMT responded to a call of a young man who had managed to sever his arm off entirely. Upon arriving en scene, they discovered the man deceased and confirmed this was from severe bloodloss. Medics were able to locate the severed arm several meters away and were waiting for police. 5 civilians were present (██████ █████████, ███ █████, ████████ ██████, ██████ ████████████, and Lewis Dixon.) and were described as being in a state of shock by medical technicians. Several minutes, later the corpse of ██████ ████████████ apparently started convulising violently. The body was described as rapidly [DATA EXPUNGED]

Several suspects were present, all of whom were identified as close friends of ██████ ████████████, the deceased man. The case was ruled an accidental suicide, despite [DATA EXPUNGED]

Foundation agents were brought aware of File SCP-XXXX-F1 following Incident SCP-XXXX-R1.Lewis Dixon was brought in for questioning on ██/██/20███, ██ years after the events described on File SCP-XXXX-F1.

Foreword: Several Foundation agents were stationed within ███████ County's local towns due to unrelated incidents. In the early hours of ██/██/20██, police responded to a 911 call of a man who described to the operator that his house had split in half. A squad car was dispatched from ██████ Police Department. This video log is from the bodycam of Agent Starr, a foundation agent imbedded within the local police force. The bodycam was recovered following the Foundation's investigation of the area.

<BEGIN LOG>

Video begins with no audio for the first 30 seconds, a blurred feed from Agent Starr's chest shows him stepping out of his squad car. Another officer is with him, later identified as Officer ███████████.

Agent Starr and Officer ███████████ approach a middle aged man standing in the front yard with a bathrobe holding a knife, a house in the background of the feed appears to be seperated from it's garage, floor and ceiling beams are visible.

Presumably upon notcing that the man is holding a weapon both officers draw their service weapons and aim it at the man.

The man can be seen panicking, his face is visibly distraught. Officer ███████████ can be seen drawing his taser.

Audio starts recording

Officer ███████████: [Shouting] Drop the knife!

Suspect: Do you see that? [Subject points towards house in background while maintaining the knife to his side.]

Agent Starr: Drop the knife, now!

Suspect: No, no, you don't realize what happened!

Suspect starts walking towards officers, Officer ███████████ deploys a taser causing the suspect to sieze up and drop the knife. As the knife makes contact with the ground, the video feed is heavily distorted. The bodycam is persumed to have landed several meteres away. Screaming from Agent Starr can be heard.

Closing Statement:

Upon arriving to the caller's house, a major earthquake ensued causing the deaths of ███ civilians and total destruction of the town of ███████. SCP-XXXX was only able to be recovered after an agent noticed several trees displaying the effects of SCP-XXXX several miles away. It is thought that SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2's combined vibrations caused SCP-XXXX to become airborne and subsequently prevented [DATA EXPUNGED]
