Special Containment Procedures: There is currently no way to contain SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX is located in the Tharsis Montes region on the planet of Mars. SCP-XXXX is to be observed by Foundation agents inside observatories around Earth. Any person to obtain knowledge of SCP-XXXX's true purpose is to be administered Class-A amnestics.

SCP-XXXX's cover story is that it is a shield volcano, with properties that would be standard for a shield volcano, under the name of 'Olympus Mons'.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a shield volcano, with a width of 624 km, and a height of 25 km. By some estimates, the most recent large volcanic eruption at SCP-XXXX occurred only 25 million years ago. NASA satellites discovered a large build-up of magma below the surface, which was then relayed to the Foundation by agents in NASA. All persons that found out about the build-up of magma were administered Class-A amnestics. SCP-XXXX appears to be altering the spin of Mars, although at a very limited speed, although it only gained this ability when the last eruption occurred.

Estimations predict that several decades will pass before SCP-XXXX launches the magma. Foundation scientists have predicted that Mars is slowly turning to a point where SCP-XXXX can launch the magma at Earth.

Several proposals have been made to try combat SCP-XXXX's final purpose. These include:

Launch rockets to and destroy SCP-XXXX 05 Council decision: Approved
Construction of a laser in space to destroy SCP-XXXX 05 Council decision: Approved
Have a tea party and celebrate the end of the world 05 Council decision: Denied
Using fans to blow away the magma as it enters Earths atmosphere 05 Council Decision: Denied
Building an orbital shield above SCP-XXXX 05 Council Desicion: Considered1
