Item #: SCP-ITEMNUMBER

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-ITEMNUMBER is to be kept in a secure Foundation facility located in Bir Tawil1. All workers at the facility with the exception of D-Class are to be stateless individuals2 in order to prevent any accidental spread of SCP-ITEMNUMBER's anomalous effects.

Description: SCP-ITEMNUMBER is a large misshapen limestone boulder massing approximately 3000 kg. Its anomalous effects manifest when an individual of a non-sapient species touches it, the species hereon referred to as SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A. At this point, SCP-ITEMNUMBER will become "active" and cannot induce its anomalous effects on another species until it "deactivates." The instance of SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A that first comes into contact will begin to gain sapience, which will be infectious and genetically communicable. This sapience comes with some other changes to SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A, such as:

  • Highly increased lifespan
  • The ability to speak despite the lack of development of vocal cords
  • Omnivorousness

The sapience and other communicable effects are only communicable within the nation of origin of the first instance of that particular SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A. Members of that species from other nations who enter the origin nation may gain the effect, but they also can only spread it within the bounds of the origin nation. After the sapience effects are communicated to most members of the species within the origin nation, the instances of SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A will enter the public limelight within that nation as being able to speak, and will advocate for their own ability to have political power. There is no compulsion of the ruling species to give SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A citizenship, but as a matter of probability, after enough time passes, it is likely they will either be wiped out or will gain citizenship.

The first time an instance of SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A becomes the main leader of the nation, the previous ruling species will start to lose sapience (this lost sapience also being communicable), the new species created by this lost sapience referred to as a type of SCP-ITEMNUMBER-B. The loss of sapience will also induce shorter lifespans and the loss of the ability to speak in SCP-ITEMNUMBER-B. As SCP-ITEMNUMBER-B becomes nonsapient, SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A will likely take away their political power.

Once either all SCP-ITEMNUMBER-A instances are wiped out or all of the previously ruling species have become SCP-ITEMNUMBER-B, SCP-ITEMNUMBER will "deactivate" and can give another species sapience again, with the exception of SCP-ITEMNUMBER-B, who cannot become sapient again within that nation.
