SCP concept draft "Man's Inferno"
Object #: SCP-xxxx
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-xxxx are to be contained individually in chambers mimicking their apparent native environments including native plants and small animals. No flammable materials other then native plant and animal life should be included or utilized. A secondary chamber of the same specifications is to be attached, accessible through remotely controlled gate. SCP-xxxx instances should be cycled between chambers for feeding and testing.
Description: Instances of SCP-xxxx appear to be animals of various species with no body hair, charred black skin, luminous blue eyes, and are constantly ablaze. These flames are tied to the instance health as such starvation, injury and stress all cause the flames to lose intensity. Full log on attempts to extinguish the flames are located in addendum xxxx-01. Instances of SCP-xxxx don't possess any abnormal resistance to bodily damage aside from flame and heat resistance. There diet consists of human ashes. It has been noted most instances of SCP-xxxx were first reported after major fires involving wild life.
They show heightened aggression towards humans and will attack them with no provocation, pursuing them even over long distances until it can no longer be located or it has expired. In addition to any physical damage Scp-xxxx instances will attempt to burn the target to ash. These flames spread quickly and all attempts to extinguish them thus far have failed only subsiding after the affected individual is reduced to ashes. This behavior is exclusive to humans, animals are ignored and plants are avoided. Left alone instances of SCP-xxxx will pace their enclosure and do not to sleep.
There are currently four instances of SCP-xxxx under containment,SCP-xxxx-1 through SCP-xxxx-4. Their species include Odocoileus Virginianus, Canis Lupus, Gorilla Gorilla, and Lynx lynx. For full description of their capture see addendum xxxx-02. One instance of SCP-xxxx was previously contained but is now neutralized. SCP-xxxx-1N, hybrid of panthera leo and panthera tigris.
Addendum xxxx-01: When water is applied to the instance it responds similar to a kitchen grease fire spreading rather than extinguishing the blaze.
Chemical extinguishers are more effective but are unable to stop the flames from reigniting.
Subjects fully submerged for several seconds fall unconscious with the fire dying, however flames return after being removed and they return in full force after the instance returns to consciousness. Human subjects ignited by SCP-xxxx instances show a similar pattern with flames reigniting as soon flame suppression methods wear out, drip away or are removed.
Addendum xxxx-02:
SCP-xxxx-1 appears to be a male canis lupus and was recovered ██/██/████ in [REDACTED] national park after a forest fire apparently caused by careless campers. Rangers were ambushed by the creature investigating the fire and called for backup. The Foundation was slow to respond to reports of this instance and local authorities tracked and located SCP-xxxx-2. Though they initially intended to tranquilize it one of the officers or rangers panicked and shot it in the chest. Fortunately Foundation personnel arrived and took possession of the wounded SCP-xxxx-2. It later made a full recovery after being treated by Foundation veterinarians in flame resistant gear. The officers and rangers involved were all treated with class B amnestics and the story was framed as an elaborate hoax.
SCP-xxxx-2 appears to be a female odocoileus virginianus and was recovered ██/██/████ in a woodland area near the small town of [DATA EXPUNGED]. A week earlier a house on the edge of town caught fire, cause unknown. The flame spread to nearby homes and some areas not inhabited by humans. SCP-xxxx-2 attacked and killed █ locals before fleeing. Foundation personnel were deployed following reports of "crazed flaming deer" and tracked down and captured the SCP-xxxx-2 with minimum casualties. Amnestics deemed unnecessary and events were blamed on [REDACTED] a teen among those killed with a criminal record and a history of pyromania.
SCP-xxxx-3 appears to be a male gorilla from the [REDACTED] zoo in [DATA EXPUNGED]. The zoo experienced heavy damage, animal and employee loss when a nearby illegal fireworks display caused a fire on ██/██/████. Days later SCP-xxxx-3 appeared and attacked workers clearing the site. The Foundation intervened after the initial reports. The creature was recovered and class A amestics were applied to the witnesses. A badly damaged gorilla skeleton resembling SCP-xxxx-3 was also recovered.
SCP-xxxx-4 appears to be a female lynx from the [REDACTED] region of [DATA EXPUNGED]. The creature wasn't discovered until ██/██/██19 but may have been active as early as ██/██/██09 and had become somewhat of a local legend. The Foundation had suspected for some time the "Hell Cat" or "Devil Cat" was a SCP-xxxx instance and was actively suppressing it's cryptid investigation and popularization. A Foundation agent is stationed in the region for this purpose even now that SCP-xxxx-4 has been contained. No known fires are linked to the appearance of SCP-xxxx-4 at this time.
SCP-xxxx-1N appeared to be a female hybrid of panthera leo and panthera tigris commonly known as a liger. SCP-xxxx-1N was held captive by big cat breeder and keeper [REDACTED] in his road side zoo in [DATA EXPUNGED] in the year ████. A Foundation mole in his employ reported the instances existence before it could be displayed to the public and [REDACTED] was brought in for interrogation along with SCP-xxxx-1N. He had planned on showcasing the instance in the zoo to "Make a killing!" but failed to build an enclosure to meet even his meager safety standards before Foundation intervention. He initially claimed that he had breed SCP-xxxx-1N himself but after intense questioning admitted he had acquired it after another big cat breeder was killed in a fire along with many of his animals, saying "It just showed up on his property while we were 'acquiring' his animals". [REDACTED] was released following application of class C amnestics.
SCP-xxxx-1N died of heart failure early in the morning of ██/██/████. SCP-xxxx-1N previously suffered from health problems consistent with ligers and was believed to be physically 18 years old at the time of death.
