Recovery site of SCP-XX1 in [REDACTED] Public Park
Item #: SCP-XX1
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX1 is to be stored (disassembled) in a standard anomalous objects storage locker in Site 76. Egg-based products should not be prepared or served in the Site 76 kitchen.
Description: SCP-XX1 is a small construct made out of four (4) multicolored plastic straws, two (2) small rubber bands, one (1) standard sheet of paper cut into a rough circular shape, and one (1) [REDACTED] brand plastic cup. When the object was first located, the pieces were assembled to superficially resemble a small, crude lunar lander (with the straws serving as struts and the paper covering the opening of the plastic cup). The object also contained a single (unfertilized) white egg of the species Gallus gallus domesticus (the common chicken) located under the paper circle and inside of the plastic cup.
When SCP-XX1 is dropped from any height, it will accelerate more rapidly than the gravitational pull of the planet should allow and would, theoretically, increase its velocity past what should be its terminal point, eventually reach speeds nearing the speed of light after falling for 10 meters. The high-velocities achieved by this object during testing have caused the expected amount of damage to the surrounding area and are registered on all currently tested observation devices, but do not appear to affect the object itself in any way, leaving it (and the egg inside it) undamaged. SCP-XX1's anomalous properties only occur when the object is assembled and when an egg of a suitable size for the cup's diameter from any animal of the class Aves is placed inside of the cup.
SCP-XX1 was discovered in the center of a crater located in [REDACTED] Public Park, known to be the site of [DATA EXPUNGED] Summer Camp's annual egg drop competition. The event was covered under the guise of an unforeseeable gas tank explosion.
Item #: SCP-XX2
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX2 is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-17 furnished with a bed, toilet, and sink which are all to be bolted to the floor. The cell is to be lit by overhead lights positioned directly above each article of furniture, preventing their shadows from being visible kept in total darkness, along with its conjoining hallway (see Incident Report XX2-A). The floor of the cell is to be painted with two layers of Vantablack paint, which must be inspected biweekly for chips, during which time the subject's hands must be restrained.
Any instances of SCP-XX2-1 (animate or otherwise) are to be destroyed by high powered spotlight unless approved for use in testing. All guards station around the subject's containment chamber are to be issued military grade flashlights, along with their standard equipment.
Description: SCP-XX2 is a Caucasian male of average height and build and approximately 32 years in age. The subject is fluent in English, although functionally illiterate due to lack of formal schooling. The subject is visually unremarkable aside from the fact that it lacks a shadow when viewed under any light source. SCP-XX2 has the anomalous property of being able to “pick up” the shadow produced by any other object. This effect creates a new and wholly separate entity (hereafter designated SCP-XX2-1) from the original object, which resembles a two dimensional projection of the object as it was when the SCP-XX2-1 entity was created. SCP-XX2 requires both the use of his hands and suitable light levels to produce SCP-XX2-1 entities. SCP-XX2-1 entities can be destroyed by light levels above 900lm, at which point a non-anomalous shadow reappears at the object(s) from which the SCP-XX2-1 entity was created.
Prior to incident XX2-A, the subject was moderately receptive to testing if incentivised with enrichment materials and activities, such as television access. Subsequent to Incident XX2-A, these privileges have been revoked and SCP-XX2 has become generally uncooperative.

Study of SCP-XX2-1 properties
Original Object(s): One 1m x 1m wooden cube.
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: One 2m x 1m rectangle.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: SCP-XX2 is able to lift the SCP-XX2-1 entity, describing it as weighing the same as the original cube. This weight does not register on any tested scales. The entity becomes totally invisible when viewed from any angle aside from directly above and directly below, owing to its two dimensional nature. When dropped, object falls at the accepted speed for a 1m x 1m x 1m wooden cube. The entity is made out of a yet unidentified, opaque, black substance.
Additional Notes: This test should serve as a control - Dr. ██████
Original Object(s): Two 1m x 1m wooden cubes placed so shadows overlap.
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: One 2.98m x 2m rectangle.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: Same as control test, although described to weigh approximately the same as both wooden cubes combined.
Original Object(s): One 1m x 1m wooden cube.
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: Same as control.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: Same as control.
Additional Notes: SCP-XX2 was removed from the testing chamber before the destruction of the SCP-XX2-1 instance. D-5642 was told to enter the chamber and pick up the instance. After being initially uncooperative due to the apparent impossibility of the task, an armed guard convinced him to make an attempt. D-5642 was unable to lift the instance but described it as feeling like “something was there”. When asked to elaborate, D-5642 was unable to provide any more useful information and was escorted out of the chamber.
Original Object(s): One standard size pair of plastic scissors, one sheet of A4 paper (297mm x 210mm) held on its side by SCP-XX2 as to produce a rectangular shadow.
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: One slightly elongated scissors-shaped shadow and one 594mm x 210mm rectangle.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: Both SCP-XX2-1 instances apparently weighed approximately the same as their corresponding objects. The cutting mechanism on the scissors-shaped instance remained functional and the blades apparently remained sharp.
Additional Notes: SCP-XX2 was told to use the SCP-XX2-1 instance made from the pair of scissors to cut the other SCP-XX2-1 instance in half lengthwise. This divided the instance into two 594mm x 105mm instances. SCP-XX2 was instructed to do the same to the original sheet of paper, creating two 297mm x 210mm sheets.
This brings up some interesting possibilities for covert weapons testing. If only we could figure out how to let anyone else hold one of these things - Dr. ██████
Testing 06/██/██
Weapons testing with SCP-XX2
Original Object(s): One standard MTF issue pocket knife (blade retracted).
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: One elongated knife-shaped instance of SCP-XX2-1.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: Weighed the same as the original knife, but the blade was seemingly unable to be extended.
Original Object(s): One standard MTF issue pocket knife (blade extended)
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: Similar to previous test, but with deviation as expected by the change in shape of the object.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: Same as previous test, but the blade was seemingly unable to be retracted.
Additional Notes: A 5ft length of nylon rope was introduced to the test chamber by D-3489. SCP-XX2 was instructed to use the SCP-XX2-1 instance to cut the rope in half, which was performed successfully. SCP-XX2 was then instructed to use the SCP-XX2-1 instance to stab D-3489. SCP-XX2 performed the task willingly, stabbing D-3489 through the stomach, and then asked if he should repeat the action again. D-3489 was removed from the test chamber and given immediate medical treatment. D-3489 is recovering from his wound normally and is currently under observation for any prolonged effects of SCP-XX2-1 contact. The SCP-XX2-1 instance is currently contained in a standard anomalous objects storage locker for further study, and may be accessed with clearance from a Level 3 researcher or above has been destroyed (see Incident Report XX2-A).
Well, at least he seems eager to cooperate - Dr. ██████
Testing 06/██/██
Effects of SCP-XX2 on biological matter
Original Object(s): One male specimen of Rattus rattus (black rat).
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: A slightly elongated projection of the original specimen.
SCP-XX2-1 Properties: The SCP-XX2-1 instance is animate, although, due to its unusual shape, is unable to move efficiently and appeared to curl up in pain as soon as it was created.
Original Object(s): D-1325
SCP-XX2-1 Produced: [DATA EXPUNGED]

SCP-XX2 requested to not repeat the above test. Request granted.
Incident Report XX2-A: On March ██, ████ SCP-XX2 breached containment by incapacitating the guard sent to deliver the subject's daily meal. The guard, ████ ██████, was recovered with five stab wounds on the lower abdomen and stomach, although survived the encounter due to the metal plating in the armor around his heart. ████ ██████ describes SCP-XX2 lunging at him with an unregistered SCP-XX2-1 instance, currently believed to have been created from the shadow of multiple chips of paint from the containment cell’s floor and a shard of wood broken off of the head of the bed. SCP-XX2 managed to escape into a seldom-used staff break room before being recontained by site staff. How SCP-XX2 created enough of a shadow to generate the instance is currently unknown but containment procedures have been updated accordingly. The SCP-XX2-1 instance used in the attack has not yet been located, but its recovery is of low priority.
SCP-XX4 at time of original containment
Item #: SCP-XX4
Object Class: Euclid Neutralized
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX4 is to be stored in a standard anomalous objects storage locker located at Site 76. Once per day, two D-Class subjects with no history of gambeling addiction or fraud related crimes are to play a game of poker, with 600 USD to be allocated for the purposes of betting (which can be reclaimed at the conclusion of the procedure). Prior to and at the conclusion of the game, each D-Class is to undergo minor psychological testing to determine any particularly strong opinions or compulsions (results of which are available in Document SCP-XX4-A). D-Class showing genuine loyalty or benevolence towards The Foundation are to be preferred for use in this procedure and should be reused if possible. The remains of SCP-XX4 are located in an object storage locker at Site 76 and may be accessed for study by Level 2 research staff and above.
Description: SCP-XX4 appears to be a deck of playing cards as manufactured by the United States Playing Card Company and branded with the ‘Bicycle’ logo. The deck is missing the two ‘Joker’ cards and does not contain any instructional or promotional materials as are common with decks of this nature. Once every twenty four hours, the paper seal on the deck will momentarily vanish and reappear. This event typically takes place when visual contact on the object is lost, but, if placed under constant observation, is visible and takes place over the course of two milliseconds. If the seal of the deck is broken or removed, this event will cause it to be replaced with an undamaged copy.
When SCP-XX4 is utilized to play a game, a number of anomalous effects will occur. The parameters for an activity to count as a “game” are difficult to discern, as games of skill that do not use the object in a traditional manner (such as a card-throwing competition) and games of pure luck (such as the card game war) trigger the effects. If a game of any nature is not played utilizing the object within 48 hours, it will vanish from its current place of containment. Where the object goes during this time is unknown, but during all reported recoveries, it has reappeared within a week’s time at the site of an ongoing conflict or dispute between two or more individuals. This reappearance typically goes unnoticed, as the object tends to appear out of eyeshot of the involved parties.
SCP-XX4 is theorized to exert a mild cognitohazardous effect on individuals within line of sight of the object. This effect seems to compel individuals to utilize the object, especially in the act of conflict resolution (with the correct party in the conflict being determined by the winner of the game). Due to SCP-XX4’s effects, this action is usually successful, increasing the chances of the object being used in a similar manner in subsequent disputes.
Over the course of a game played with the object, the mental states of any involved subjects begin to change drastically. As one player gets closer to “winning” the game (hereafter designated the victor), the other player(s) will begin to agree with the victor in most matters of philosophy or ethics. As the game progresses, the scope of opinions agreed upon will increase, eventually reaching even trivial subjects by the game’s conclusion. Once the game is ended, all subjects will share nearly identical opinions with the victor on all things from political leanings to favorite sports teams. This change does not cause any lasting psychological damage and can be reverted after the fact if the subjects are presented with other opinions or points of view with which they agree more.
When the object was first located, it was found in the tomb of a (currently unidentified) minor Song Dynasty (960 - 1279) nobleman in China. The object resembled a deck of layered papyrus, covered in ancient Chinese script but, when it was removed from the tomb, immediately transformed into its current state.
Incident SCP-XX4-B: During the routine execution of containment procedures, security footage recorded D-5679 looking at the cards held by D-8903 utilizing the reflective surface of a support beam attached to one of the test chamber walls. D-5679 used this knowledge to bet much higher amounts of money, eventually winning the game. Before D-5679 could pick up his collected money, the cards in his hand burst into flame, causing 3rd degree burns on both of his hands. The rest of the deck, aside from the cards held by D-8903 similarly combusted. The remains of the object exhibit no currently observed anomalous properties, and the object is considered at this time to be neutralized, with containment procedures updated accordingly.
Item #: SCP-XX5
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX5 is to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell located in Site 17 containing a 6m deep pit in the center as well as a supply of logs, wood scraps, and wet clay. The pit is to be half filled with sand and lined with five gas stove burners, which are to be modified for remote operation. The pit may be filled and ignited at the entity's request, at which point the supply of wood and clay must be replenished.
Once monthly, a single human hand, human arm, and human leg must be placed in the half-filled pit. These limbs do not need to be from the same human but should not be more than a week old each as well as being mostly intact. The pit must then be refilled until SCP-XX5 ceases its collection phase at which point excess sand is to be removed from the pit and normal routine is to be resumed.
Description: SCP-XX5 is a humanoid sculpture composed primarily of clay and biological tissue. It is approximately 1m tall and resembles a crude depiction of a human with the Hebrew word “אמת” (truth) carved onto its forehead. Thermoluminescence testing on clay taken from parts of the entity has revealed it to have been originally fired sometime around the 19th century, although due to the entity’s self-repairing nature, these results may be inaccurate.
The clay composing the entity’s left hand, right arm, and right leg appears to have been broken or worn away during some point before its containment. These sections have been replaced by the entity with the corresponding limbs from human cadavers and, during the entity’s initial containment, were showing signs of advanced decay. Testing has shown that these limbs can be replaced with no adverse effects to the entity and can be replaced by the entity itself if provided with the proper arrangement.
During normal circumstances, SCP-XX5 is mostly indifferent or docile towards humans and other lifeforms. SCP-XX5 only becomes hostile if not allowed to complete its collection phase or if anything enters within a range of 10 cm from the Hebrew lettering on its forehead. When hostile, SCP-XX5 is capable of punching or kicking with a force of over 1000 N, possibly damaging its biological components in the process, so due caution should be taken to avoid provocation unless under controlled conditions.
SCP-XX5 enters its collection phase when any one of its biological components becomes damaged to the point of unusability. The entity will begin searching for any buried human limbs within its immediate range. If it is unable to locate any suitable candidates, it will vanish and appear at the nearest accessible point above any buried human corpse (usually a graveyard, morgue, or medical school in which cadavers are used) instantaneously. Upon finding a corpse, SCP-XX5 will proceed to dig downwards until it is able to reach the corpse and remove the desired limb or limbs. SCP-XX5 has been shown to be able to dig through materials rated 7 or lower on the Mohs scale. The entity will then return to its prior location above ground and construct a simple pit firing kiln out of nearby materials. After doing so, the entity will use any methods available to it (including sunlight, friction, and even man-made lighters) to ignite the kiln before burying itself along with the recovered limbs. After a period of 1-2 days, the entity will emerge from the kiln with its new limbs attached, discarding its previous limbs. It is unknown at this time how SCP-XX5 is able to detect where bodies have been buried nor how it is able to attach its new limbs without damaging them in the process.
SCP-XX5 was discovered after a number of grave robberies were reported to the ████ ███████, ███████ Police Department and intercepted by Foundation agents based in the area. SCP-XX5 was discovered in an abandoned tool shed on the grounds of the ████ ███████ █████ cemetery, along with a “stockpile” of stolen hand, arms, and legs, as well as additional body parts (including five torsos, two arms, and a head) as well as a set of sculptors tools and a hospital operating table. Located in a perimeter sweep of the shed was a large mound of ash and wood scraps. Materials recovered from the pile include a number heavily damaged scrolls with lettering in Latin, Old Norse, and Hebrew, a hospital gown, and a collection of assorted paper and plastic wrappers, identified to be identical to those in use at local fast food restaurants. The identity of SCP-XX5’s creator is unknown but the subject is at large and pending POI designation.
A non-anomalous specimen of Clathrus archeri
Item #: SCP-XX6
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XX6 is to be stored in a standard anomalous objects storage locker located in Site 76. All recordings of SCP-XX6 are accessible in the Site 76 library and are available for research purposes for site staff with level 2 clearance or above. Biological samples generated by SCP-XX6 are available in the site 76 biological wing, as well, for testing by researchers with level 3 clearance or above. SCP-XX6 should not be utilized in testing at this time.
Description: SCP-XX6 is a 4.7 GB DVD format disk, originally contained within a box labeled “Mushroom Men From Mars!”. The box depicts a heavily stylized portrayal of aliens with mushroom like features boarding a spaceship on the Martian surface. The art style of the box as well as the contents of the disk are similar to that of a low budget science-fiction film from the mid-1980s, although no film of that name has been found to have been released in that (or any) era. The disk will play in any standard DVD compatible video player.
The film itself lacks any memetic properties and can be safely observed from outside of the 20m radius of SCP-XX6’s effects, via recording equipment built into the DVD playback device, or through cameras set to film SCP-XX6’s playback. SCP-XX6’s effects only occur when the film is played through a monitor or other visual output device and, as such, audio analysis can and has been run on the output of the object.
When played, the movie will run non-anomalously until approximately the 15 minute mark at which point a number of effects will occur. A full list of these effects, as well as their corresponding scenes and timestamps in the movie can be found in Document-SCP-XX6-A. At exactly the 67 minute mark a mechanical or electronic failure will occur in the device on which SCP-XX6 is being played. This malfunction will serve to either rewind the film to the beginning or, on devices without a rewind function, cause the system to shut down and the disk to be ejected. No method has been found to view the final 34 minutes of the film for this reason. If allowed to continue playback after the rewind function is triggered, the anomalous effects produced by the object will continue to grow in intensity, usually only ceasing after the film has been played for approximately 8 hours and the film has looped 7 times, at which point the DVD playback device has been, in all cases, too damaged to remain functional.
- 0:00:00 - Opening credits and title roll (Crediting █████ █ ████████ as the director and ██████ ███████ as the lead actor. Both individuals are currently verified as deceased and no record of their contribution to this, or any similar film has been located)
- 0:10:35 - By this point, all the main characters of the film have been introduced; Zapp Edmonds, the film’s lead, has reverse-engineered a crashed spaceship to fly to the planet Mars and rescue his girlfriend Mary Anne Smith from the “Mushroom Men”. Note: The titular Mushroom Men have not been shown on screen by this point.
- 0:14:48 - Zapp Edmonds arrives on Mars, and the film cuts away, revealing a brief shot of one of the Mushroom Men. Anomalous effects begin occurring after this point, starting with the dimming of all electric lights within an approximate 20m radius of the device displaying the film. This effect includes the screen upon which the film is playing. Power fluctuations are detected in all affected lights.
- 0:27:03 - A prolonged scene featuring the Mushroom Men discussing their plans for world domination, atmospheric moisture within SCP-XX6’s area of effect increases significantly and liquid in the air begins to condense, forming dewdrops on most exposed surfaces.
- 0:33:12 - Zapp Edmonds confronts the Mushroom Men for the first time. All plant matter within the object’s radius begins to undergo spontaneous cell death.
- 0:37:28 - Zapp Edmonds escapes from a trap set by the Mushroom Men, all plant matter in range is biologically dead by this point.
- 0:45:01 - Mary Anne Smith undergoes an interrogation by the Mushroom Men. All living organisms of the kingdom Fungi begins to grow at an accelerated rate. A spore of the species Agaricus bisporus will reach maturity within 10 minutes if growing within SCP-XX6’s radius.
- 0:59:36 - The Zapp Edmonds confronts the leader of the Mushroom Men with a stolen Subsonic Phaser, SCP-XX6 begins generating spores, which are dispersed through the ventilation system of the DVD playback device. Spores mostly belong to the genus Clathrus although other species of mushroom and mold have been identified.
- 1:07:00 -Zapp Edmonds fires a Phaser bolt at the self-destruct button in the Mushroom Men base. The film cuts out at this point and the rewind function of the DVD playback device is activated, starting the film over from the beginning.
- 1:21:48 - SCP-XX6 begins outputting spores at a significantly faster rate. Species of fungi produced exhibit a greater degree of variation.
- 1:34:03 - Many spores collected at this point are significantly genetically different from any known species suggesting a heightened rate of mutation.
- 3:21:05 - A standard 2m x 3m x 3m testing chamber is nearly completely covered in various species of fungi. Most species grown at this time are unable to be identified, excluding a large number of Clathrus archeri mushrooms, which remain nearly identical to their non-anomalous counterparts.
- 5:58:03 - Clathrus archeri specimens begin to grow unnaturally large.
- 7:00:00 - Clathrus archeri mushrooms observed to move slightly, lifting or shifting their arms without known outside influence
- 7:57:46 - Clathrus archeri mushrooms point their arms downward in unison, pressing against the ground and rising slowly upwards. At this time, if not before, mushrooms inside of the DVD playback device will have become too numerous for it to continue function. As soon as the device ceases playback, all organisms of the kingdom Fungi within the object’s radius will spontaneously undergo total cell death.
