Special Containment Procedures: Agents embedded in all space agencies that conduct manned missions are to carry out a disinformation campaign within crew training and medical examinations to conceal SCP-ZZZZ's anomalous origins. The common consensus to be held by these companies is that microgravity affects sleep quality such that dreams will never occur.

Research into SCP-ZZZZ's effects on the human psyche is to be conducted on Brodmann Station, which is outfitted with specialized neural scanning equipment. Brodmann Station orbits the Sun at approximately 1.06 au, and passes Earth about once every three months. Brodmann Station's current head of SCP-ZZZZ research is currently Dr. Cy Lotel.

Description: SCP-ZZZZ refers to an effect that causes individuals outside of Earth's thermosphere¹ to not experience dreams during sleep. Those affected undergo every typical stage, including REM sleep, as expected; dreaming simply does not occur, in spite of every other process remaining unchanged.

SCP-ZZZZ was first discovered in 1961 by Gherman Titov as the first human to sleep in orbit, and became more widespread in attention as space flight became more common. The phenomenon was initially alerted to the Foundation by a paper written by Dr. J. Allen Hobson in 1998, which was to investigate the effects of microgravity on sleep quality for crew aboard the Mir-23/NASA-4 and Mir-24/NASA-5 missions. The study was to include "the first collection of dream reports from space"²; however, the study noted only a total lack of dreams, as reported by crewmembers and REM brain activity analysis. The paper was subsequently intercepted by the Foundation, and published with no mention of this particular study.

Further research into dreaming conducted internally by the Foundation's neuroscience division indicates that dreams are not inherently produced by the brain itself. Typical mental imagery is sourced from the deeper portions of the brain, which sends information to its respective perceptual processing centers. In spite of this, neural data for unconscious imagery does not appear to originate from within the brain. Instead, it seems to appear within perception spontaneously, forming complex informational structures without an apparent source. This finding, alongside SCP-ZZZZ's main effect, lends to the hypothesis that dreams are anomalously sourced via a signal produced by Earth itself.

Special Containment Procedures: Probably not much, we almost missed the thing. Doesn't show up on radar, telescopes, gravitational readings, anything. Only way we knew it was even there was the Hume drop when flying in this region, it's abysmal. I guess we could send some anchors into orbit, just in case.

Description: SCP-ZZZZ-Δ is a planet-like object roughly the size of Earth, in the same orbit, always located on the other side of the Sun. It's completely gray, looks like it has a sort of lumpy and gooey consistency, and is virtually undetectable. (Should write something about the Hume readings, too)

Crew consensus is that the "planet" is related to ZZZZ in some way, because everyone started having dreams again as soon as we pulled near, putting a bit of a damper on the mission objective. Everyone's reported that the dreams were extremely vivid, too, though they were all situations with people and places they didn't recognize. All of the dreams seemed to be very well grounded in reality. The neural report had high numbers all across the board - I'm surprised no one had a headache when they woke up.

Delta was discovered on January 23, 2027, on the Brodmann's first round trip. Upon sending out the survey probes, it was revealed that while the daylight half was almost completely flat (with a few geographical hiccups), the dark side was intensely chaotic, with ripples, moving mountains, even melting cities and vague humanoid figures. We decided to send down one of the station's D-class to investigate the surface, with Hallo³ supervising the camera feed, and myself on comms.
