SCP-XXXX (hazardous elements removed).

Containment Update: SCP-XXXX no longer requires containment. Pray for us all.

Special Containment Procedures [ARCHIVED]: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a modified Object Containment Cube at Site-544. This container is to be hermetically sealed and keycode protected; the correct keycode (changed bi-monthly) is only to be disclosed to personnel with Level 5/XXXX clearance. SCP-XXXX is to be placed face-down within the container for further security.

Description [ARCHIVED]: SCP-XXXX is a worn sheet of papyrus, originally rolled into a scroll, measuring 10cm x 13cm of unknown age2 or place of inscription. Inscribed upon SCP-XXXX are several geometric designs (deemed non-anomalous) along with SCP-XXXX's anomalous property, a passage of text written in Hebrew3. In the event a human individual gains knowledge of the contents of this text (whether this be by reading it or having it communicated verbally) they will immediately attempt to commit suicide. The method by which this occurs will utilize nearby objects, suggesting it is intended to be carried out as fast as possible (although in some cases the compromised individual will wait several hours before the act). Screening has confirmed the passage to be memetic in nature, although the memetic agent in question does not appear to be attached to the suicidal behavior at all; simply introducing knowledge not present within the text itself. Due to the circumstances listed above, the actual contents of the text are not known.

Addendum XXXX.1
Discovery

SCP-XXXX was initially discovered by the Foundation after the entire population of Crowns, Massachusetts committed suicide. SCP-XXXX was found pinned to a billboard; hundreds of photocopies spread throughout the town. The Foundation deployed MTF Klein-90 "The Bats" to retrieve the anomaly and destroy all copies present.

Exploration Log XXXX.1

Date: 10/4/2023

Team Dispatched: MTF Klein-90 "The Bats"

Team Members: K90-1 "Bilge" (Lead), K90-2 "Asphalt", K90-3 "Freddie", K90-4 "Quetza", K90-5 "Normandy"

Foreword: MTF Klein-90 were sent into Crowns, Massachusetts to analyze the area, discern the nature of SCP-XXXX, and retrieve it for containment.

BEGIN LOG

Control: Klein-90, do you read?

Bilge: Check. Everybody?

Asphalt: Check.

Freddie: Check.

Quetza: Uhh- check.

Normandy: Mic is hot.

Bilge: We're all here.

Control: Good. Make your way towards Crowns.

Bilge: Will do.

MTF Klein-90 approach the town's entrance. Several dead bodies are present.

Quetza: Oh shit.

Freddie: Yeah. Whatever the fuck this skip is, it's makin' people kill 'emselves.

Asphalt: What could do that?

Bilge: Memetic hazard, probably.

Bilge kicks through a gate.

Bilge: Alright, bats, we're in. Take a look around the place, see if you can find anything strange.

A cover story was disseminated detailing a terrorist attack to cover up the unexplained deaths.

As stated before, the location SCP-XXXX was created as well as the time it was created remains a mystery, although the Foundation has found several links between known mass-suicides as early as 3000 BCE and the effects produced by SCP-XXXX, suggesting it has existed for at least 5,000 years. Earlier mass-suicides are still being probed for evidence of SCP-XXXX's involvement.
