SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to kept within a standard anomalous item locker. SCP-XXXX is only to be activated during testing. All further testing with SCP-XXXX is suspended until further notice due to direct order from the Ethics Comittee (see addendum-3).

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Heathkit H89 "all-in-one" personal computer. All interal components match the models standard assembly and data recovered from the computers interal storage is correct for its model and has no anomalous properties. The anomlaous property of SCP-XXXX has only been sucessfully activated when powered on directly by a human test subject (see addendum-1).

When activated by a human test subject, SCP-XXXX displays a foriegn language composed of currently indecipherable symbols on its screen for five minutes and 31 seconds. The effect of SCP-XXXX is believed to be memetic, and implants the memories of an alternate universe where the test subject is an omniscient entity interacting with another omniscient entity watching over a universe they created. After the deactivation of SCP-XXXX all test subjects have displayed extreme mental distress and symptoms of depression, paired with the request of euthinasia. Use of amnestics has had no effect on test subjects of SCP-XXXX. (see addendum-2).

Discovery Log: SCP-XXXX was brought to Site-29 and left on site Director █████ desk by former MTF Mu-4 member ████ ██████ with a note attached to SCP-XXXX saying:

"Do not turn this on, the pain isn't worth it."

- ████ ██████"

***Note: ████ █████ prompty resigned, and was found dead within his apartment two days later due to self inflicted GSW.

Addendum-1: After extensive hazardous property testing, followed by dissassembly, data recovery and reassembly, SCP-XXXX was believed to pose no danger to site personel and further testing was authorized. Researcher Joshua then attempted to use a remote controlled robotic limb to power on SCP-XXXX, and SCP-XXXX then displayed the HDOS boot screen and interface. Repeated testing using program and A.I. driven drones has given the same result. Use of trained animals including greater apes, canines, and pinnipeds has given the same result with no reaction from said animals.

***Note from Researcher Joshua: I don't believe this old computer is just an old computer due the actions taken by ████ ██████ after bringing SCP-XXXX into our custody. I believe that this effect cannot be activated remotely or using non-human entities, I would like to test this hypothesis. Request for use of D-Class personel for further testing.

Request - Granted.

Addendum-2: Following the tests recorded in addendum-1, D-8165 was brought in for testing of SCP-XXXX. The following is a transcribed video log of said testing.

D-8165 enters the room and sits down at the provided desk currently holding SCP-XXXX.

D-8165: What's with the old PC doc? Are we going to play some pong or something?

Researcher Joshua: Please stay keep the chatter down D-8165, please activate the computer.

D-8165: How? This dinosaur probably doesn't even work. Wait is this i-…

D-8165 then presses on the powerbutton, and stares at the screen blankly while indecipherable symbols scrawl across the screen.

Researcher Joshua: D-8165 please describe anything you are experiencing.

D-8165 continues to stare at the screen, unresponsive.

Researcher Joshua: D-8165, please describe what is happening.

D-8165 continues to stare at the screen unresponsive while Researcher Joshua continues to try to get a response for remainder of the event until a low tune plays from SCP-XXXX.

Researcher Joshua: …I am losing my patiences D-8165. Are you even there?

D-8165 then reaches for the power button and deactivates SCP-XXXX.

Researcher Joshua: Stop! Don't touch it-

D-8165: Oh god what- where am I… hello? Where did she go… please don't be gone…

Researcher Joshua: D-8165, for the last time please explain the effect of SCP-XXXX.

D-8165: Please come back…

D-8165 continues to be unresponsive and moves to the corner of the room, moving into a fetal position and starts to sob uncontrollably.

Following this test D-8165 was given time to partially recover and then was provided writing supplies and directed to record his experience. Here is the following document:

"It was so long ago. I remember being confused and lonely and so cold, black surrounding me until I felt her embrace me from behind. She was both so beautiful but yet indescribable. Her hands took mine and she whispered into my ear and thanked me with such appreciation I have never felt before. I turned to look to her and the void around us filled with light, and a big blue planet was at our feet and joy overwhelmed me. I started crying, just overwhelmed by love as I watched what I understand to be our creation flourish and develop. She thanked me once again and explained how she couldn't do it alone.

We watched together, the first life starting, mindless cells reproducing over and over again. It was beautiful but all the same tragic as I knew what was inevitable. Repeatedly the small organisms kept having their delightful offspring. I think she noticied before me, one was withering and I looked at her and she at me with a expression of sorrow. Death, the first and most definitely not the last that our creation will see. I moved to embrace her first and calmly told her it was alright, it has to happen.

Time passed, the organisms advanced and our creation was doing wonderfully. We watched the planet change as land formed and the cells became creatures that explored the land. She laughed at the first creature to end up on land, it was clumsy and quickly returned. Her laughter once again washed me with that loving warmth. We kept watching and the world kept progressing, it was our child and I grew closer to her.

Eventually, these beautiful clumsy creatures grew accustomed to the land and took hold of it. Some banded together and I watched what I could only assume was families forming. These families banded together and communities were made. As death is inevitable with life, conflict is inevitable communities. We watched as our creations fought over food, once again I felt her sadness wash over me and I squeezed her hand in mine. She apologized for the first time, I asked her what for and she simply shook her head.

Over time we became accustomed to the creulty that is death and conflict. But our communities interacted with eachother for the first time and I held my breath as I knew what was coming. It was peaceful, they interacted well and eventually combined in force. I thought I was wrong on my assumption and relaxed, only to see them attack another group. This was our first time experiencing war, and she was inconsolable. I tried once more to comfort her but she let go and wouldn't return. I gave her space and eventually she came back and we embraced once more.

Civilization took hold over time and the war slowed to a crawl. Evenso, death, conflict, and war became routine and we were numb to it. She looked deeply into my eyes and the sorrow she once showed before was growing in her soul. I questioned her and she said it was going to end soon and she would need to say goodbye. I cried deep mournful tears as I held her tight and refused to accept this new pain. Her hold onto me was just as tight and I yearned for her warmth to wash over me once again but it felt weak with the sorrow breaking through.

I looked over to the star that warmed our planet and fueled its energy, realizing for once what was happening. Our star was dying, but I didn't want to accept it was the end. I brought us to it tried all I could to bring life back to the weak star. She cried once more as I realized how powerless both of us really were. Death, conflict, war, and entropy were all inevitable with the beauty that was the life we created. We spent the last of the time together watching the lives of the creatures that lived within our creation.

As entropy took hold in our world, wars stopped and conflict ended, everyone of our beautiful creations worked together trying to preserve themselves. The warmth she once had was all but gone, as we watched the last of our children finally fall and die. The star was soon to fall as well, and I watched as the lights surrounding us followed suit. Entropy was taking our creation, and we could do nothing to stop it.

She looked at me and thanked me once more. She told me that while it was the end of our time that it wasn't my fault it was ending. She said her sorrowful goodbye and I weeped. Her eyes dimmed and her light was gone. Drifting from her I woke to this world once more. I still don't remember where or who I am.

Please, take away my pain. I miss our creation, I miss our love, I miss her."

***Note: On subsequent testing using D-8165, D-8165 refuses to turn on SCP-XXXX, even when given incentives to do so. When forced to physically activate SCP-XXXX the HDOS boot screen shows instead of the previously recorded indecipherable symbols.

D-8165 has requested on multiple instances to be euthanized, all requests have been denied and D-8165 has been put on suicide watch until further notice.

Addendum-3: All subsequent testing using other subjects has yeilded the same outcome, and notably every written report from said subjects have been the same word for word. Due to the repeated outcomes from all subsequent testing and extreme emotional distress this puts on test subjects, the Ethics Committee has suspended all further testing until further notice.
