Item #: SCP-5268

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Foundation naval vessels are to hold a 20 kilometer minimum safe distance from SCP-5268. Naval vessels patrolling the area around SCP-5268 are to be marked with JSDF or NATO allied markings, under the pretense of a joint naval exercise. Any civilian vessels passing through the patrol area to be either turned back or redirected. Public satellite imagery of SCP-5268 is to be doctored out. Foundation satellites have been placed over the affected area to monitor activity.

Any aircraft or vessel emerging from SCP-5268’s area of effect is to be intercepted and engaged using fighter aircraft that have been specially modified to operate as unmanned drones. Under no circumstance are any personnel to come within a 16 kilometer radius of SCP-5268 until further notice. Satellites are to consistently monitor for electromagnetic pulses emitting from SCP-5268-1.

Researchers are currently in the process of developing emergency protocols should the time distortion effect of SCP-5268 expand beyond its current boundaries.

Description: SCP-5268 is a tropical island 150 kilometers west of the Ogasawara Islands, 2.409 kilometers in circumference. In the center of the island, there is a large sized research facility, labeled as SCP-5268-1. This facility has three large antennas, which continuously emit electromagnetic pulses. There is also a subterranean yet visible centrifuge, with clear IJAMEA markings.

SCP-5268 is currently under the affects of a time distortion by unknown but presumed technological anomalous means harnessed by the IJAMEA. This is believed to have been done by using SCP-5268-1, due to the electromagnetic pulses that emit from its antennas in correlation with when these time distortion events occur. This is estimated to have begun between 1944 and 1945, and this effect has also affected a 16 kilometer radius around the island.

This effect causes everything and everyone in SCP-5268 and the affected area to experience a time loop. Individuals not already in SCP-5268’s area of effect who come within the affected zone will be subject to looping as well from the time they arrived.

Due to the unstable nature of the anomaly, it has been to difficult to determine when exactly these loops occur. It is possible that the loop does not occur at fixed intervals, but at random.

At the presumed time when this effect began, there was an attempt by US forces to land on and take the island from Imperial Japanese forces. Due to the unstable time looping effect, random intervals of the battle have been repeatedly taking place, in a presumably never-ending and ongoing loop. Affected individuals appear to be unaware that they are in a time loop.

All attempts to intercept vessels and aircraft on both sides affected by the time distortion have been met with hostility, seemingly because they believe other vessels and aircraft to be part of the enemy forces. Aircraft and vessels affected by these loops have also at times been known to leave the confines of SCP-5268, which appears to break the loop.

Weather also appears to be affected by this loop, often changing rapidly and abruptly. It is believed that these weather changes are from different points in the region's time, but to what degree is unknown.

Forces that leave the SCP-5268 will attack civilian, Foundation, and other vessels and aircraft under the belief that they are hostile, unless clearly marked with insignia of their respective side. For this reason, any aircraft or vessel originating from SCP-5268 is to immediately be intercepted and either shot down or sunk.
