Item #: SCP-XXXX [OBJECT AWAITING DESIGNATION]

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be kept in a 6 inch x 6 inch x 12 inch, titanium-lined bulletproof glass casing. This casing must remain locked whilst SCP-XXXX is left inside. SCP-XXXX must only be removed when tests are being conducted by a Senior Researcher holding the minimum security clearance of Level 3. must not be removed from it's casing at any time, unless approved by a Three Quarterly majority vote of SITE-[REDACTED] Command. At no time whatsoever is SCP-XXXX to be interacted with directly by any on-site personnel within a 20-meter radius at any time. Any on-site member who fails to meet with the designated requirements must be administered a general anesthetic within 30 minutes of direct interaction with SCP-XXXX.

Addendum 18.8.17: On 24/2/██, one (1) junior containment specialist interacted directly with SCP-XXXX, which shortly followed to cause severe headaches and nausea. General anesthetic was administered by the on-site medical specialist, Dr. [DATA EXPUNGED], who further recommended the treatment as the only direct method toward contact with SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a black, unremarkable 'King' chess piece, estimated to have been crafted out of stone circa 1920's. Prior to incident [DATA EXPUNGED] (Refer to Addendum 7.11.17), the piece maintained a completely unaltered look, since as of ██/██/██ SCP-XXXX now has the top and left stalks of it's 'cross' broken off. Physical damage to the object has not diminished it's anomalous properties within observable reason.

SCP-XXXX originally held a classification of 'Safe', but prior to incident [DATA EXPUNGED] (Refer to Addendum 7.11.17), SITE-[REDACTED] Command held a Three-Quarterly majority vote to increase SCP-XXXX's security classification to 'Euclid'.

SCP-XXXX hold numerous anomalous properties that effect the physical and emotional well being of humans any living entity within 4 to 15 meters of it, unless directly obstructed or isolated using any means necessary. Effects on said person being can include, but is not restricted to;
- Stomach Sickness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Chest Pains
- Muscle Cramps
- Migraine Headaches
- Emotional Breakdowns
- Psychological diagnosis of medical conditions (assessed by on-site psychiatrists)
- A variety of other medical concerns

Any living entity that comes within proximity of exposure to SCP-XXXX will begin exhibiting symptoms from the following after a recorded period between 20 minutes and 4 hours. It is not known if specific symptoms are exhibited by people of unified background, blood type, ethnicity, etc.

SCP-XXXX was recovered by the foundation, after a chess set was recovered from a family in [DATA EXPUNGED], Ohio. The family had been making frequent contact for emergency medical services throughout a period of ██ months, as all of the family's members began complaining of similar medical concerns. The house was eventually investigated by state quarantine officers, in which led to the Foundation being contacted after each member of the recovery team began exhibiting unusually unrelated symptoms of sickness to each other, however were included in line with the symptoms displayed by the residents of the house. The chess collection was confiscated by Foundation authorities, which the whole chess collection was considered to be the cause of anomalous sickness. It was not until ██/██/██, in which further study was commenced on all of the pieces of the collection that only a single piece exhibited significant test results during research.

Addendum 7.11.17: During a testing session on 5/2/██, Senior Researcher Medley was involved with voluntary direct contact with SCP-XXXX. After 33 minutes of close-proximity exposure to SCP-XXXX (15 minutes longer than the maximum direct exposure time limit set by Item Special Containment Procedures, effective ██/██/██), Researcher Medley started exhibiting strong symptoms of Paranoia, and began having "what seemed like an epileptic fit" by observing members of the research team, which symptoms had never been recorded to have been exhibited by anyone before. During that time, Medley had dropped the single instance of SCP-XXXX, permenantly damaging the top 'cross' fitting at the height of the item. Later prognosis suggested that Researcher Medley's condition was fine, and that the cause behind the seizure-like fit was likely related directly to SCP-XXXX.
