Depiction of SCP-XXXX-A recovered from cultist texts.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-A is to be kept in an unfurnished containment cell constructed from steel. The walls of the containment cell are to be completely smooth and at least 15 centimeters thick. The entrance to the containment cell is a seamless door made of glass 2 meters tall by 1 meter wide, which locks automatically when closed. It must be unlocked remotely. Following Incident XXXX-3, entrance to SCP-XXXX-A's containment cell is only allowed once every two weeks. At least two guards armed with elephant tranquilizer darts are to guard the entrance to the containment cell while the door is open. D-Class personnel are to be sedated before being guided into the containment cell, and the entrance is to be closed after the D-Class has entered.

A camera is to observe SCP-XXXX-A's containment cell in order to monitor for instances of SCP-XXXX-B, which are to be immediately subdued with tranquilizer rounds and relocated to a modified humanoid containment cell at least 20 meters away from SCP-XXXX-A's containment cell, where they are to be restrained. Once the tranquilizer wears off they are to be interviewed and tested for anomalous qualities other than those apparent. Instances which non-cooperative, hostile, or display additional anomalous properties are to be terminated immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX-A is a large entity which resembles a cephalopod with anomalous humanoid arms in place of standard appendages, which appear to grow from a central core. These appendages display extraordinary strength, measure between 1.5 and 2.5 meters in length, and are primarily used for ambulatory movement and hunting. DNA testing of the appendages has confirmed that despite their anomalous properties and size, they are human in origin, with genetics testing failing to reveal any conclusive heritage. Several of the appendages have been impaled by spikes composed of an unknown metal, which has restricted their movement and the creation of SCP-XXXX-B. Following Incident XXXX-3, these spikes are not to be removed from the appendages without the clearance of two Level 3 researchers.

The 'core' of SCP-XXXX-A appears to be composed of muscle tissue of an unknown biological origin. The core is approximately three meters tall, with most of it being obscured by the appendages. Spikes, identical to those restraining the entity's appendages, are also present on the top of the core, though only function as a physical restraint for SCP-XXXX-A. Both the core and the appendages have several mouths, though these are not used by the entity for consumption. Instead, these mouths are used to tear and soften harder materials within SCP-XXXX-A's prey, such as bones and metal, while the appendages tear apart the softer material, such as flesh, muscle, and fat, and feed it to the primary mouth, hidden at the bottom of the core within the mass of appendages. SCP-XXXX-A has been shown to be capable of consuming between 35 and 50 thousand calories in human meat a week.

Once per month, one of SCP-XXXX-A's appendages will detach from the main core and form into an instance of SCP-XXXX-B within five to ten minutes, averaging eight minutes. Instances of SCP-XXXX-B are genetically human. However, each instance has some level of mutation, varying from slight discoloration of the skin to entire sections of flesh being missing or replaced by various anomalies, such as chitinous plating similar to the core of SCP-XXXX-A or tentacle appendages. The intensity of these mutations seems to correlate with each instance's ability to function. I.E. instances with low levels of mutation typically exhibit lesser brain function, nearing brain death in some instances, while high levels of mutation have exhibited enhanced intelligence, strength, and in some instances other anomalous qualities.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-B which were capable of being interviewed (approximately ██%) have been shown to speak fluently in at least two of the following languages: Modern & Old English, Modern & Old French, Anglo-Norman, several Germanic languages, Arabic, Latin, and both Modern & Ancient Greek. All interviewed instances have claimed that they have no memory before being formed. Additionally, all instances express a desire to free SCP-XXXX-A when within 10 meters of it. SCP-XXXX-B instances display a high level of coordination when within 5 meters of each other. It is believed that they also share a common pool of knowledge when they are close to one another, as instances are able to speak languages they had not previously spoken, so long as other nearby instances speak it.

Addendum 1: SCP-XXXX was recovered on ██/██/████ from [REDACTED], where it was discovered in the basement of an abandoned apartment complex. A number of Sarkic texts were also discovered, and it is believed that SCP-XXXX was brought to America in ████ after cult members discovered it in [REDACTED], a castle which was abandoned in the 14th century, located in [REDACTED]. No additional anomalies were discovered either in the texts or during the recovery operation.
