Special Containment Procedures: Currently the Foundation does not possess any known means of containing SCP #### due to its ability to seemingly 'phase' in and out of what is assumed to be local space. Currently however SCP #### is mostly self containing due to its second anomalous effect which alters its appearance based on whoever is currently viewing it into someone the viewer recognizes as an old friend however this effect does not seem to apply to video recording equipment created after the year 2000.

If any instance of SCP #### is identified either due to its phasing ability or any individual whose appearance shifts based on the person looking at them, any and all instances should be investigated with the materials confiscated for analysis. Any civilian seen conversing with SCP #### is to be immediately detained and questioned before subsequently being amnesticized.

SCP #### is also known to leave behind multiple copies of an anomalous book dubbed SCP ####-1 with over 400 known instances of SCP ####-1 being contained within Site 54. SCP ####-1 are stored within a large room lined with solid oak bookshelves with the books themselves being checked for signs of degradation once every month. Only five copies of the book may be removed from the room at a time and must be approved by Site Director █████ ██████ with personnel only being allowed a maximum of five hours with a single copy of the book. Should any foundation personnel or civilians be discovered in possession of the book for more than five hours MTF Zeta-9 (End Of The Line) are to terminate the affected person immediately.

Should any more instances be located they are to be stored here without exception with the O5 Council approving any necessary funding should the room need to be expanded to contain more instances of SCP ####-1.

SCP #### is also known to leave behind multiple anomalous crosses labelled SCP ####-2 with over 400 known instances of SCP ####-2 also contained within Site 54. Instances of SCP ####-1 are to be stored within a stretch of dirt with a distance between each instance being the length of the human to whom the cross belonged to. Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to enter the containment area or touch an instance of SCP ####-2 without the prior approval of the Site Director with the presence of at least one Foundation Doctor and three members of MTF Zeta-9 present.

Anyone found to have come into contact with an instance of SCP ####-2 are to either be subdued and given Class-A amnestics or are to be terminated should it prove to be too difficult to contain those affected.

Description: SCP #### is a humanoid entity whose appearance shifts based on the individual viewing it however a recurring theme regardless of its current form is its clothing. If the entity is being viewed as a male then it will be wearing a dark black suit with a red undershirt, a black bowler hat with a white trim along with its signature dark purple gloves. If the entity is being viewed in a female form its clothing will consist of a black ballroom dress with white frills, a red rose adorned in its hair and dark purple gloves that reach up to the elbow. The entity will always possess the same red irises across both its male and female forms which always seem to glow right before it is about to activate its phasing ability.

SCP #### manifestations occur at the beginning of the new year with the entity appearing in locations that often become the sight for mass casualties. The casualties themselves are not directly caused by SCP #### and can be either caused through standard or anomalous means. Once the incident has occurred and there are no more potential casualties SCP #### will attend to each and every deceased being in the area, waving its right hand to lift the deceased off of the ground whilst using its left to return the bodies back to the state they were in prior to the incident however they still remain dead despite this. It will also take one item from each of the deceased and store it in a random pocket on its person regardless of how big the item is.

It appears that SCP #### can perform this anomalous ability on any being so long as even the slightest piece of the deceased remains, regardless of the condition of it, and return them to their original state. SCP #### was once seen regenerating the body of a human male who had been hit by an air strike in Northern Iraq, the body having been blown to bits only for SCP #### to rebuild it from a lone finger it had discovered.

Once SCP #### has successfully restored the deceased it will then summon a standard shovel into its right hand and begin digging graves for the victims, burying each and every last one in the same position with their hands crossed over their chests and a book written in an unknown language placed under them designated SCP ####-1.

Once all the bodies have been buried SCP #### will erect makeshift crosses to mark the graves that are etched with the same text on SCP ####-1 which are designated SCP ####-2 due to the multiple anomalous effects they possess.

SCP #### will immediately depart the area following its erection SCP ####-2 instances and will seemingly walk off in a random direction however it appears that SCP #### is in fact simply walking toward the beginning of a set route it must always follow upon completion of its burials.

SCP #### will always walk toward Brighton Beach, East Sussex England, in a straight line at the pace of a regular human. SCP #### does not seem to bother deviating from this path for any reason and will simply enact its phase ability to bypass would be obstructions, appearing on the other side as if it had manually walked through the obstruction. SCP #### will however walk across water though why it does not utilize its phasing ability for this is currently unknown.

Upon reaching Brighton Beach SCP #### will dig a hole, seven feet deep, and deposit the largest of the items it took from the deceased humans before covering it with sand and moving on performing the exact same actions at every stop until it reaches its final destination of Mount Hiei North of Kyoto Japan.

In order to track SCP ####, recover instances of SCP ####-1, instances of SCP ####-2, items left behind by it or to recover evidence of the existence of SCP #### including the detainment of civilians who have spoken to the skip Mobile Task Force Zeta-9 (End Of The Line) were assembled at the approval of Site Director ██████ ██████ and the O5 Council.

Over the course of several manifestations of SCP #### has not shown any hostility toward anyone including MTF and other Foundation Personnel who have approached it however it neither shows any interest, seemingly ignoring their presence outright in favor of continuing on its assigned path which goes as follows:

• A small cabin across the Berezina River, West of Mikhailovka in Belarus

Why SCP #### always follows this set route is currently unknown however not once has the entity attempted to harm any civilian or Foundation personnel along this route leaving Director █████ to order SCP #### be allowed to perform its pilgrimage with MTF Zeta-9 acting behind the scenes to cover up any potential sightings that could lead to a possible containment breach.

Upon reaching the top of Mount Hiei and disposing of the last item taken from the deceased SCP #### will then bow in whatever direction the sun is currently facing before phasing away signalling the end of the SCP ####'s manifestation period.

A typical SCP #### manifestation can take anywhere from six to eight months even despite its rather sedate walking pace. This is due to the fact that it ignores all obstacles regardless of what they are and simply walks straight toward its next location and does not appear to lose stamina despite the distance between each stop. Very rarely will SCP #### stop and converse with someone however in the event this does occur he often confers what questioned civilians describe to be 'words of wisdom' that supposedly gave these people a new sense of direction.

Below is the first recorded interview of someone who has spoken with SCP #### between Doctor Nathan Crowley and Reginald Vargas, a resident of Brighton who had planned on committing suicide at the time of SCP ####'s appearance at the beach:

Reginald is a resident of the Brighton Area who appears to have been suffering from severe anxiety and depression with medical records stating he was prescribed large doses of anti depressants. Reginald appears to have undergone a complete reversal of his personality following contact with SCP #### and has easily passed all psych evaluations deeming him mentally sound and stable for interview.

Doctor Crowley refrains from speaking as Reginald's mouth twists into a repulsive smile that looks far too out of place as if the subject is forcing it to the extreme.

Nathan Er, Mr Vargas are you by any chance suffering from ANY form of negative emotion at all?

Reginald Of course not man, not after what my buddy told me the other day!

Nathan Your buddy, does this buddy have a name?

Reginald Oh you know my buddy from High School, only friend I had until he killed himself in our final year!

Nathan Mr Vargas you do realize what you just said don't you?

Reginald seems to ignore Doctor Crowley's words and begins to bleed from his nose indicating some kind of mental tampering.

Nathan Mr Vargas, you're bleeding.

Reginald reaches for his nose without being informed by Doctor Crowley as to the location of the bleeding before laughing.

Reginald Oh this, don't worry about this. I get bloody noses all the time, ever since I saw my old buddy. Hey did I ever tell you about my buddy, best guy I ever knew!

Doctor Crowley frowns and notes down Reginald's odd behavior before shaking his head.

Nathan Mr Vargas can you tell me exactly what your friend told you that brought about this sudden change in your outlook on life?

Reginald's eyes seem to widen for a moment, blood continuing to flow from his nose though he either ignores it or doesn't seem to notice.

Reginald You know its funny but I can't really remember what he said but I'm telling ya those words were, well they were words of wisdom if I've ever heard em!

Nathan I think we're done here Mr Vargas.

Interview Results It is clear from the interview with Reginald Vargas that SCP #### has altered his memories through the use of advanced mental manipulation however it cannot be confirmed if this is some kind of cognitohazard or if it simply is another ability SCP #### can use at will. It is also important to note that anyone who converses with SCP #### cannot recall the name of the person who is supposedly their closest friend despite knowing all about them as evidenced by Reginald commenting on his friend's death in High School.

It is recommended that more subjects are brought in to be interviewed to see if others present the same signs as Mr Vargas with any Foundation Staff, MTF or otherwise avoiding contact with SCP #### until it can be discerned if it does in fact possess conscious control over this ability or not.

SCP ####-1 is an anomalous book placed in the hands of a deceased human before they are buried by SCP ####. The book is 312 pages long and weighs only 2.7 kilograms with its cover being made from nonhuman skin bearing a genetic makeup unknown to the Foundation.

SCP ####-1 is written in a currently unknown language that at first glance appears similar to those used in various Sarckic rituals. This was further believed to be the truth once the anomalous effects of SCP ####-1 came into effect however such a hypothesis has since been proven false.

Initial contact with SCP ####-1 is harmless however sustained contact leads to varying effects depending on who holds an instance of SCP ####-1 and for what purpose they are currently holding it.

Below is a timeline of the first official test conducted with SCP ####-1 under the observation of Doctor Nathan Crowley on a D-Class who had been sentenced for murder:

4 Hours	Subject displays significantly increased heart rate and blood pressure and complains almost constantly of severe headaches. Subject also complains of an incessant itch on both their left and right hands. scratching them once each every sixty seconds.
5 Hours	Subjects heart rate has increased beyond safe levels with a recorded blood pressure of 440. The subject no longer complains of a headache and instead has begun screaming about someone known as 'The Master Of Death' and his all seeing eye. Subject has also begun clawing at their hands taking out small chunks of flesh without seeming to feel any pain.
7 Hours	Subject has ceased screaming about the Master Of Death and instead began chanting in an unknown language whilst tearing the skin and flesh from their hands exposing the bones. All signs of a heart rate and blood pressure have faded rendering the subject clinically dead however Director █████ ordered the test to continue.
10 Hours	Subject ceased chanting and looked up at the observation chamber, their irises glowing red similar to those of SCP ####. Pointing at the glass the subject shattered the glass injuring several Foundation Staff forcing the Director to terminate the subject.

Discovery: The D-Class exposed to the book appeared to undergo some kind of transformation into some kind of being possessing anomalous powers. Subject also spoke repeatedly of an entity known as the Master Of Death possibly referring to SCP #### itself. It is currently unknown why the subject became suddenly hostile however it is entirely possible that it could be related to the past of the subject in question however further testing is required to confirm such a hypothesis.

Below is a timeline of the second official test conducted with SCP ####-1 under the observation of Doctor Nathan Crowley on a D-Class who had been sentenced for theft.

The subject did not begin screaming like the first however instead seeming to murmur incessantly about 'The Master Of Death' and his all seeing eye. The subject has also begun taking small chunks out of their hands similar to the first however it appears that they are conscious of this fact, looking down and smiling every minute as they take a piece of their own hand away.
7 Hours	Subject ceased murmuring and began laughing about repentance and their new status as a 'Servant Of Death' whilst tearing the last bits of flesh from their hands. It should also be noted that like the first all the subject's vitals have ceased.
10 Hours	Subject rose to their feet and looked at the observation window in a similar manner to the first subject, their irises glowing the same red as SCP #### however this time they spoke to me directly. The subject spoke what appeared to be a mixture of Old English and Modern English asking us to cease experimenting with SCP #### before pointing a skeletal finger at its neck seemingly killing itself through unknown means.

Discovery: It appears that the theory of SCP ####-1's effect on humans varying depending on their past is correct however the second test proves that SCP #### has some degree of control over the subjects converted through the book as evidenced by the glowing red irises. It cannot be confirmed if it was in fact SCP #### in control of the first subject however due to the consistent non hostile nature it displays toward humans in general. Director █████ has barred further experimentation on SCP ####-1 until more can be learnt about what the book actually is and why it converts people, granting them anomalous abilities.

Addendum ####-1-1 Two instances of SCP #### vanished from their containment room on ██/██/2013 leading to a full Site lock down. Despite thorough searching only one copy of SCP ####-1 was successfully found with the located copy having been left in a Foundation toilet by a Junior Researcher. When questioned about why he would take the book and dump it into the toilet the Junior Researcher was unable to recall why they had done it. After extensive interrogation by members of MTF Zeta-9 it became clear that the Junior Researcher was missing the last five hours of his memory leading to another Site lock down lasting a full 24 hours as the Task Force investigated how the Junior Researcher lost their memory and who the culprit could be. The remaining book was never located within this period leading Director █████ to order a review into the Special Containment Procedures to prevent future ones.

Addendum ####-1-2 New containment procedures for SCP ####-1 reduce the number of allowed books to leave the room from five down to three. No Junior Researcher is allowed to experiment with SCP ####-1 with all other staff requiring signed permission from both Doctor Crowley and Director █████ before withdrawal. In addition the number of hours allowed with the book are reduced from five to three with a 48 hour period required before the same Researcher is allowed to attempt to experiment with the book again.

Addendum ####-1-3 The second missing book was located off site in a coffee shop three blocks from Site 54. How or why the book wound up there is currently unknown with its presence only being discovered after it converted a civilian into one of the beings now being classified as SCP ####-3 which went on to kill over 100 civilians before being terminated by MTF Zeta-9. According to the Task Force Captain the Foundation was lucky not many civilians were in the area following the rampage of the SCP ####-3 instance with only a reported 15 civilians requiring Class B amnestics.

SCP ####-2 is an anomalous makeshift cross made from two pieces of solid oak wood held together by a thick strip of rope that is used to mark the graves of those buried by SCP ####. Despite the cross itself being made of wood it weighs over 350 kilograms possibly a byproduct of the anomalous nature of the cross itself.

The cross is lined with a set of runes in the same unknown language SCP ####-1 is written in and has several effects depending on what a person is doing with the cross itself. The following effects were recorded when standing near the cross:

• A sense of loss even if the person has not experienced the passing of anyone close to them in the last decade
• The tendency to think back on events with people one hasn't seen or conversed with recently, usually someone who hasn't been seen in at least five years
• The feeling that they should catch up with those closest to them as soon as possible even if they have done so recently

These effects whilst anomalous are not the reason why Foundation personnel are barred from interacting with the crosses. Upon touching the crosses the effects differ drastically depending on a number of factors listed below:

Factor	Effects
Recent Personal Loss	Anyone who has lost someone in the last six months who touches SCP ####-2 will begin to cry uncontrollably until they pass out from exhaustion, hallucinate seeing the deceased rising from the grave seemingly condemning them for confining them to such a fate. The person will also suffer from severe bouts of depression and will likely need to be monitored heavily for a period no less than the exact number of days they lost the person to the day they touched the cross.
Recently Killed	If a person has recently killed someone there are two separate effects they will be forced to endure based on if the killing was justified or not. If the killing was justified then the person will seemingly speak to some kind of apparition based on the person they killed and explain to them in detail why it was they killed them until the person no longer feels any guilt for doing so. Should the person not feel any guilt when the apparition appears then they will be prompted to explain why that is the case. If the killing was not justified then the person will be hounded by what is described as a 'Vengeful Spirit' that will seemingly haunt the person and try to force them to kill themselves. Should the person manage to endure this for the period between the time they were killed and the time the person touched SCP ####-2 the spirit will fade away.
Recently Married	If a person was recently married then there are two different effects that will happen based on if the person is faithful to their spouse. If the person is faithful then the person will seemingly be cured of any current illnesses they may be suffering, including all forms of Cancer and incurable diseases. These do not however apply to anomalous illnesses however those suffering from them do appear to live slightly longer than their projected date of death. If one is not faithful to their spouse they are rendered infertile and given one ailment at random. Ailments can range from the common cold all the way to a brain tumor. Most notably however any illness that a person is given that can be cured will not be cured with the exception of a person who takes one pill of SCP 500.
Currently Pregnant	Oddly if a person is pregnant when touching SCP ####-2 the child will grow up with some memories of the person whom SCP ####-2 was made for. They are not reincarnations of said person however they merely retain some memories of the former person's life including how they died.
Treatment Of Those Closest To Them	Depending on how a person treats those closest to them SCP ####-2 will perform one of two actions. If the person is kind to those closest to them then SCP ####-2 will seemingly de-age someone by up to five years. This effect does not work on people under 23 years of age and cannot be bestowed more than once. If the person is cruel or unkind to those closest to them SCP ####-2 ages the person by up to ten years and bestows some kind of anomalous effect that makes people avoid them. It is currently unknown why SCP ####-2 adds this effect however many Foundation staff believe this is a visual symbol of what awaits those who are unkind to those closest to them.
How Lazy A Person Is	SCP ####-2 seems to be able to detect how lazy someone is and bestows two effects. If a person actively tries their hardest in life and is always active then SCP ####-2 will alter a person's body to reflect as such. If a person is fat then they will be made thin or toned depending on how hard the person has tried to be active in their life. If one is not active then SCP ####-2 will alter their bodies to reflect as such making them morbidly obese. If they are already morbidly obese then SCP #### will instead induce a heart attack in the person which upon reviewing the autopsy makes it appear as if the person died of a heart attack due to their current level of fitness.

Addendum ####-2-1 Following experiments with SCP ####-2 Site Director █████ accidentally touched one after a routine inspection causing a unique anomalous effect. Upon touching SCP ####-2 Director █████ began to scream about [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] prompting Senior Researchers and MTF Zeta-9 to incapacitate him. Upon waking the Director spoke of SCP #### referring to it as 'The Master Of Death' indicating that his suspicions as to what it truly was were in fact correct. When asked why he referred to SCP #### as such the Director didnt respond and fell into a three week coma where upon waking he held no memory of the event.

Addendum ####-2-2 Upon further review of the unique incident with the Director the O5 Council has adjusted Special Containment Procedures Barring anyone from accessing the room housing all instances of SCP ####-2 aside from D-Class personnel who must be specially vetted beforehand. D-Class chosen to store the instances of SCP ####-2 within the room must not possess any of the negative traits outlined above that would hinder their ability to perform the task of placing new instances of SCP ####-2 inside its containment. It should also be noted that all Senior Researchers including Doctor Nathan Crowley and Director █████ are barred from entering the room under any circumstances and are to be immediately detained should they attempt to do so.

SCP ####-3 is the designation pertaining to any human who has been converted by the effects of SCP ####-1. Currently the only containment procedure available is to ensure all copies of SCP ####-1 are collected and stored at Site 54 with any instance of SCP ####-3 being terminated on site by MTF Zeta-9.

All known and recorded instances of SCP ####-3 save bar one have displayed hostility toward any living entity in its immediate vicinity. SCP ####-3 shows increased resistance to small arms fire and appears to be capable of performing anomalous abilities that are smaller in scale to those of SCP #### itself. All instances of SCP ####-3 can be identified by the lack of flesh on their hands and glowing red irises identical to those of SCP ####. Most instances will also be seen holding a copy of SCP ####-1 in their left hand as well. Instances of SCP ####-3 display no life signs despite clearly operating in a normal fashion with instances being capable of speech, cognitive thought as well as exceptional physical feats.

Discovery Of SCP #### First recorded sighting of SCP #### occurred in █████ Australia on ██/██/1985 by the Global Occult Coalition who were investigating reports of a war which had broken out among the civilian population through anomalous means. Upon arrival at the city of ████████ the GOC found a single man standing amidst a pile of bodies, levitating them up off of the ground restoring their bodies to before the incident occurred.

Mission: Investigate Reports Of Potential Anomalous Activity In The City Of █████ Western Australia.

Encounter Report: Upon arrival the Strike Team discovered that the city had been wiped out through some kind of anomalous means which forced the entirety of the local populace to [REDACTED] before turning on each other and [REDACTED] killing every last civilian within the city limits. Strike Team █████ entered the city and attempted to discover the cause of the incident the team located a lone individual demonstrating multiple anomalous abilities. The individual was levitating over one hundred civilians in the air with its right hand whilst it seemed to repair their bodies using the other. Strike Team █████ attempted to confront the anomalous entity, opening fire on it with small arms which seemed to have zero effect despite its humanoid appearance. The entity paused in its actions and it was at this point video footage began to distort as the entity came into view displaying a differing appearance for each member of the Strike Team who are on record as stating it 'looked like their old buddy' before being attacked.
Results: The entity displayed a number of alarming abilities from being able to reanimate the deceased humans, granting them anomalous powers that originated from bone like hands as they tore the flesh from them. Each and every last one of the reanimated beings showed increased resistance to small arms fire require multiple magazines of a standard issue assault rifle to take down. The entity itself also showed an alarming array of combat abilities with it summoning a large scythe made from an unknown material lined with runes in a strange language. The subject was able to seemingly teleport or phase in and out of existence whilst it swung its scythe sending out either kinetic or psionic blasts in both purple and black coloration. In addition audio suggests that the temperature of the area dropped below minus fifty degrees with garbled audio suggesting that the entity was hurling chunks of ice at the Strike Team as large as small hills despite the location of █████ being in a rather hot and humid region.

Personnel Condition: All members of Strike Team █████ are considered KIA with recovery teams finding zero trace of their remains nor the remains of the entire population of █████ which numbered in the millions.

Conclusions/Recommendations: After multiple discussions with the Director it has been decided that one more attempt shall be made to eliminate the entity now assigned as Designation KTE-1985-Grim-Buddy before seeking outside assistance. It is also recommended that any future Strike Teams sent to try and terminate KTE-1985 are outfitted with [REDACTED] in order to combat KTE-1985 on a level playing field.

No further records have been recovered regarding GOC operations and SCP #### however it can be assumed all future operations ended in failure due to the GOC bringing SCP #### to the Foundation's attention.

Recorded below is the second ever known conversation between SCP #### and the Foundation. SCP #### appeared at the entrance to Site 54, politely knocking as MTF Zeta-9 scrambled to assemble. The conversation following is restricted to members of the O5 Council and Site Director █████'s eyes only. Anyone not authorized to view this transcript log will be detained and brought before O5 ███████ for questioning and interrogation.

Strike Captain: SCP #### … why have you come here?

SCP #### eyes Strike Captain's firearm with a bored look before shaking its head with a sigh.

SCP ####: I would speak with Director █████, would you be so kind as to fetch him for me?

Strike Captain: How do you know the Director's name?

SCP ####: Irrelivant. Bring Director █████ before me, this is his only opportunity.

Strike Captain: Opportunity?

SCP #### remains silent regardless of how many times the Strike Captain prompts it to answer his questions until Director █████ arrives.

The Director leads SCP #### through Site 54, avoiding other SCP Containment Cells including those housing instances of SCP ####-1 and SCP ####-2. Entering the office the Director takes a seat behind his desk with SCP #### taking his place opposite.

█████: You wanted me alone, you've got me alone. Under normal circumstances you wouldn't have even gotten past the front door but knowing what we do about your anomalous abilities I decided to take this risk. So what exactly brought you here and why?

SCP ####: I am well aware of your Foundation Protocols surrounding those known as 'SCP's' as you like to label being such as myself. I have come before you Director █████ because something must be done.

█████: What do you mean something must be done? What exactly are you talking about?

SCP ####: My books, my crosses, you are taking and hoarding them for your own when they were not meant for you. When he told you to 'Prepare' he did not mean for you to begin tampering with that most primal.

█████: Excuse me but what did you just say?

SCP ####: There are forces at play you do not understand Director, constants that should never be trifled with. You seek to experiment with my books, my crosses without even knowing what they are or why I place them with the deceased.

█████: So there is an actual reason for it?

SCP ####: Correct.

█████: And what is that reason exactly?

SCP ####: To prepare.

█████: What are you?

SCP ####: You already know what I am Director █████, its why you feel fear from merely being in my very presence. You cried my name once Director as have several of those you condemn to the slaughter.

█████: The Master Of Death …

SCP ####: Indeed.

█████: So to clarify you are admitting to being Death himself?

SCP ####: There is no 'He' or 'She' when referring to Death Director. Death is a constant, in indisputable fact across all reality. I am the Master Of Death Director, nothing more.

█████: If you are Death then why are you here on Earth? Why do you go around performing that strange ritual once a year?

SCP ####: To prepare.

█████: Prepare for what?

SCP #### remains silent, looking at the Director as if waiting for him to ask a question.

█████: Can you explain what the books are then?

SCP ####: Do you think you can handle the truth Director █████? Can you handle the grim truths that lie within this sacred text?

█████: The SCP Foundation deals with all sorts of horrifying things, even if what lies in that book is grim as you say I'm sure I can handle it.

SCP #### summons a copy of SCP ####-1 into its hand which upon first glance appears the same. Upon closer inspection the book is ledgible with it being in Modern English mixed with bouts of French and Mandarin.

█████: Is this some kind of sick joke!

SCP ####: You asked to read what was within the book, that is what lies within its pages.

█████ That can't be right, this book has my name!

SCP ####: Not just your name but everything you are Director █████ from your entire life to your very soul. From within that book lies YOU Director, do you see now why I have come?

█████: Are you saying that each and every book we have contained here is a human being!?

SCP ####: More specificallly they are the human beings whom I have buried them with.

Director █████ remains silent for several minutes with the sound of tapping echoing through the room.

█████: So what are the crosses then?

SCP ####: Anchors.

█████: Anchors? Anchors for the people you've buried?

SCP ####: You haven't realized what you've done have you? Did it not occur to you that those I have buried are buried in such a way for a reason?

█████: What do you mean?

SCP ####: Think about it Director, I bury someone with their book and an anchor tied to their cross. Why would I do something like that do you think?

SCP ####: Not binding but more … preparing them for what is to come.

█████: And what is coming?

SCP #### again remains silent when asked anything to do with what it is preparing for or what is supposedly coming. The Director sighs heavily before changing the topic again.

SCP ####: To cleanse.

SCP ####: Those whom I bury die with regret, forcibly torn from mortality and hold a grudge against those of the living. The Abrahamic One will not accept them in this state so I do what I can to grant them peace.

█████: When you say Abrahamic One do you mean-?

SCP ####: Do you understand why I have come before you peacefully Director?

█████: I assume you want us to stop collecting the books and crosses from those you bury?

SCP ####: Indeed that is one of my primary reasons for approaching you however there is another. Tampering with my books and crosses is performing sin Director, those who tamper with the books tamper with the souls or mortals and those who tamper with the crosses tamper with their only anchor to reality. As the Master Of Death I am forbidden from opening hostilities against mortals however I am free to act both in self defense and through proxy.

█████: Like when you killed members of the Coalition a few decades ago?

At the mention of the Coalition SCP #### shows its first sign of emotion, a slight frown as if it is recalling a rather grim memory.

SCP ####: As the Master Of Death I do not feel much for anything but … where the Foundation disposes of life with cause the Coalition disposes of it for fear and ignorance.

SCP ####: I liked those two boats you know, full of life beyond the end. Not so much now though thanks to their fear of the unknown.

SCP ####: I will not submit myself to containment Director regardless of your noble intentions. Rest assured however that there are those in higher places working to …. prepare.

Director █████ gasps as SCP #### becomes translucent before fading away entirely into is 'phase' space. Upon later review of Site 54 it was discovered that all contained instances of SCP ####-1 and SCP ####-2 were gone however O5 ███████ decided not to declare the incident a containment breach. All mentions of this incident have been suppressed, anyone who witnessed SCP #### aside from Director █████ have been discreetly given Class A amnestics and further containment of SCP ####-1 and SCP ####-2 have been suspended pending approval from the O5 Council.

This is a recorded conversation between O5 Sommers and Director Sharp three weeks following the recorded conversation between Director Sharp and SCP ####.

Sommers: Ah Sharp I've been waiting for almost an hour now for you to get here!

Sharp: My apologies Sir, MTF Zeta-9 keep trying to pressure me into letting them go and collect SCP ####-1 and SCP ####-2 instances, I'm up to my neck in paperwork.

Sommers: Paperwork? Since when has paperwork ever mattered to you Sharp?

Sharp Sir that was years ago, I'm not a Junior Researcher anymore …

Sommers: And I'm not a Site Director anymore yet here we are.

O5 Sommers motions for Director Sharp to follow him into his office, sealing the door behind them before taking a seat at his desk.

Sommers: Its been quite a few years since we last spoke in person hasn't it Sharp?

Sharp: Well that's to be expected Sir I mean you did join the O5 Council, the amount of responsibility on your shoulders must be quite large.

Sommers: Responsibility … yes …

Sharp: Sir?

Sommers: Oh nothing, nothing!

Sharp: Is something the matter Sir?

Sommers: In a manner of speaking yes, yes there is something wrong Sharp.

Sharp: Well is there anything I can do to help?

Sommers: Oh yes Sharp I believe there is. Do you remember the incident with SCP #### several weeks ago?

Sharp: Well of course I do Sir we were just talking about it a moment ago but why do you ask?

Sommers: Sharp I'm about to tell you something highly classified, so classified in fact that not even the other O5's know about it regarding SCP ####.

Sharp: S-Sir, are you sure!?

Sommers: You were my protege Sharp, took up the mantle of Site 54 once I became a member of the O5 Council and it appears you are set to take up that mantle from me as well.

Sharp: Sir … d-did you just say that I'm to succeed you as a member of the O5?

Sommers: He chose you Sharp, just like he chose me.

Sharp: He?

Sommers: The Master Of Death Sharp, he appeared before you, wanted to speak directly to you didn't he?

Sharp: Well yes Sir he did but I don't understand how an SCP relates to-?

Sharp's voice dies in his throat as Sommers places his hands on the table, covered by purple gloves almost identical to those of SCP ####. Looking up into Sommer's eyes revealed the very same glow present in both SCP #### and SCP ####-3 instances as O5 Sommers rose to his feet.

Sommers: There are things, Sharp, things that you will come to learn as you assume the mantle of O5. I won't go into detail however you need to know the full story, not just of SCP #### but of me as well.

Sharp: S-Sir you're-!

Sommers: Yes as you can see I am an instance of SCP ####-3 however I remain exactly as I was in life only now I am functionally immortal. I possess all the same abilities and even a few extra granted to me by the Master Of Death.

Sharp: B-but Sir I don't understand, why?

Sommers: To prepare Sharp, a phrase you'll find littered throughout many of the SCP 001 proposals and for good reason! You've read the book haven't you Sharp, don't try and deny that the Master Of Death didn't leave it with you!

Sharp: So its all true …?

Sommers: Yes I'm afraid it is which is why the Master Of Death has begun to take a more active role in things, namely ensuring that one of the O5 Council are acting in its interests. You have been given your book Sharp and soon the change will begin, once it has completed you will be like me and strive to defend humanity twice as hard as you once did!

Sharp: Who are you?

Sommers: You know me as O5 Sommers, your friend and mentor, however before that I was Elias Spalding. Elias lived a pathetic existence in the early 1900's until he was tragically killed during the Battle of the Bulge where he was struck directly with an APCR shell from the last Tiger I that had yet to run out of fuel.

Sharp: But if you were hit by a tank round then …

Sommers: The Master Of Death brought me back, rebuilt my body from the paste it had become and chose me to begin an important task, one I now leave to you.

Sharp: Well hang on if you are immortal thanks to SCP #### then how come you are handing over the O5 role to me?

Sommers: The illusion of Death must be maintained Sharp, even now several of the other O5's question my advanced age with my being 104 years old and still as active as I was in my fifties. It won't be long before they catch on to the fact that I am no longer functionally mortal or even human for that matter so I must pass the torch to you.

Sharp: And what of you Sir, where will you go once you retire?

Sommers: The Master Of Death has a number of tasks Sharp, more than one man can handle even with abnormal abilities. No I'll be fighting the good fight from behind the scenes most likely changing my appearance and building my way back up in the Foundation once more.

Sharp: I don't … are you sure this is right though Sir? Is it really right to follow the word of a skip we're supposed to be working to contain?

Sommers: Sharp don't be a fool, some entities simply cannot be contained! The Master Of Death is Death itself, how does one contain Death itself without removing it entirely, the answer is you simply don't!

Sharp: Sir I … no this is wrong, we can't follow the word of an SCP without more tangible proof!

Sommers sighs deeply and begins to remove his gloves revealing the lack of flesh underneath, an act that puts Director Sharp immediately on edge as he begins to slowly back away toward the door.

Sommers: The door is sealed Sharp, no one gets in or out of here without O5 Level Clearance. Oh Sharp, I'm sorry for this but … well this is for the greater good though you'll soon realize this.

Sharp: Sir NO-!

The next minute of audio indicate some kind of struggle with O5 Sommers attacking and seemingly incapacitating Director Sharp using the same anomalous abilities as SCP ####-3 before all goes quiet. It is then that O5 Sommers speaks from a location seemingly before the recording device itself.

Sommers: I apologize Master, Sharp will need to be adjusted it seems. Once you adjust his mind I believe he will be of great use in aiding the preparations.

SCP #### We do not have long Sommers, place him on the table-
