Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a secure containment locker in Site-73 and guarded by no less than one armed security guard at all times.
Except during authorized experimentation, SCP-XXXX should under no circumstances be used in any capacity on a transportation device. SCP-XXXX cannot be used for testing except with express permission from Dr. Samesh, approval from the Ethics Committee, and an abundance of Class-A Amnestics.
Description: SCP-XXXX consists of a black ███-brand skip-link1 bicycle chain that, when observed by a subject, is perceived to have an infinite number of chain links, each of finite volume; however, SCP-XXXX can still be measured to have a volume and surface area comparable to non-anomalous bicycle chains. Additionally, it has been proven through deduction that this effect is merely perceived, rather than being physical in nature. SCP-XXXX’s primary anomalous properties manifest when fitted on any compatible bicycle.
When correctly installed in a bicycle, the said bicycle becomes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Subjects mounting instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will be unwilling to dismount, although they can successfully be coerced or forced to do so. When a subject begins pedaling on the SCP-XXXX-1 instance, the instance will accelerate exponentially, even when not in contact with a solid surface. This acceleration will immediately cease when the instance reaches the speed of light, or if the subject dismounts the instance. The instance will then undergo constant deceleration until at rest, which will occur over a period of 30 seconds regardless of the highest velocity reached.
SCP-XXXX was originally recovered on 2/7/1957 from a bicycle rental and repair shop in ███████, Kentucky, after several reports of high-speed bicycle crashes in the area, including a report of a child’s bicycle destroying two of the walls of an eight-story commercial skyscraper and causing a structural collapse. The bicycle was later found undamaged and in an upright position roughly 500 meters away from the collision site by local law officials. Although the child’s body was never recovered, there were traces of DNA in the wreckage and on the SCP-XXXX-1 instance.
