Special Containment Procedures: Mobile Task Force Beta-7 ("Team Perseus") are assigned to track and intercept instances of SCP-XXXX. MTF Beta-7 are to monitor exotic animal smugglers for possible instances. Recovered instances are to be brought to Site-24.

Subjects bitten by SCP-XXXX instances are to not be viewed directly for prolonged periods and MTF Beta-7 are to use their provided Project SCRAMBLE head gear when apprehending the subject, especially members of GOI-XXXX. They are to be kept in Class-E Cognitohazard Holding Cells and must wear a mask or helmet. Female subjects who have experienced Stage 1 or above mutations are to be kept in reinforced containment chambers, and remain constantly sedated and restrained while under constant surveillance. Assigned security personnel are to be made equipped with Project SCRAMBLE head gear.

GOI-XXXX and its members are to be tracked and apprehended by MTF Beta-7 and retrieve any instances of SCP-XXXX in their possession. Hostile retaliation from members is to be met with neutralization if necessary.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an anomalous species resembling an albino Indian cobra (Naja naja). Instances do not deviate heavily from average snakes in behavior, but their anomalous property occur when they bite a human being.

Subjects bitten by instances when looked directly at the face for prolong periods causes the viewer to slowly stiffen, which temporarily render the viewer immobile. The effect ceases when the face is obscured or if the viewer averts their gaze to avoid the temporary immobilization. The immobilization aspect roughly lasts between 5 minutes to 2 hours. Due to how the effect functions, Project SCRAMBLE head gear has been proven effective and assigned in assisting containment.¹

Female subjects that are bitten by SCP-XXXX instances are likely to undergo a physical mutation. The process has four stages and most subjects do not always complete it, making not so significant alterations at times. The stages of the mutation is listed below.

Stage 1: After being bitten, no immediate physical changes occur until after several days. The subject will begin developing patches of snake-like scales on various areas of their body with varying levels of intensity. Sometimes only one area of the body is covered making it is easy to hide and not noticeable. The eyes of subjects also alter to resemble that of reptiles and their canines would become venom-filled fangs. Analysis has shown that the venom is non-anomalous.

Stage 2: About 50% of subjects progress to this stage, which results in complete hair loss. The scale patches then begin to spread out more completely across the subject’s body covering it entirely. As that occur, the subject slightly increases in height. Once the entire body is covered, the scales provide protection to subjects from piercing or blunt force trauma.

Stage 3: About 25% of subjects progress to this stage. Small SCP-XXXX instances begin to grow on the head in place of hair. Each act independent from the subject and would shed from the head of subject when it reaches maturity. Eventually, permanent instances will remain attached to the subject. The heart grows to be much larger and distribute blood to the attached instances. The diet of subjects also alter to be strictly carnivorous and are able to unhinge their jaw during consumption.

Stage 4: Only 3% percent of subjects reach this final stage, and the process lasts roughly for the duration of two days. The legs will begin to fuse together to form a serpentine tail that measures between 2 to 3.5 meters in length. The subject will become stronger and more rapid than baseline humans. Being bitten by the subject induces the same effects of SCP-XXXX instances when bitten.

SCP-XXXX instances are of interest to GOI-XXXX ("The Children of Medusa")², a cult that worships the Greek mythological monster Medusa, that attempt to collect specimens and worship them. Instances are often used by the group to allow themselves to be bitten in a ritualistic fashion. From interrogations and recovered text, the group has been aware of the existence of SCP-XXXX instances since 1899.

Agent Anderson: Hello. I would like to ask you a few questions. Is that alright?

POI-XXXX-13: [Sigh] Sure.

Agent Anderson: Alright. [Papers shifting] Can you tell me your role within the Children of Medusa?

POI-XXXX-13: My job was to tend the snakes for my priestess.

Agent Anderson: Okay. Why do members allow themselves to be bitten?

POI-XXXX-13: We allow the snakes to bite us to see our place. Of course, we don't expect a man to ascend, but we allow them to display their faith. It was only the most faithful of us, the Daughters, that can achieve the full blessing of Medusa anyway… Although, not everyone is worthy it seems such as myself…

Agent Anderson: You see the snakes to be connected to Medusa?

POI-XXXX-13: Of course. It is written that from her blood after being slain she spawned many beings, which carried her legacy. The snakes are one obviously. We are certain.

Agent Anderson: Alright. Do you have have any information what business was done with Marshall, Carter and Dark Ltd. with the group? Do they have any instances in their possession?

POI-XXXX-13: I'm not sure. It was not my place to know. Only the priestesses and Mother Acacia talked of it. Some rumors state it was probably other things they possessed that are of interest.

Agent Anderson: Mother Acacia? Can you provide any details on her?

POI-XXXX-13: Sorry. I wasn't worthy as you can see. I know nothing except that only those that are Gorgons can see her for she is very cautious.

Agent Anderson: Any reason why?

POI-XXXX-13: No.

Agent Anderson: [Sigh] Well, I think we are done for now. Thank you.

POI-XXXX-13: [Silent]
