Do Not Go Quietly Into That Good Night
Object Class: Safe1
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is authorized to reside in any room in the facility and may roam as it pleases, so long as SCP-XXXX-1 is present and within perceivable distance of SCP-XXXX. a simple room with walls of steel armored concrete no less than 5m thick must be made available as a precautionary measure. Should SCP-XXXX-1 perish and/or become separated from SCP-XXXX for any reason it should be escorted to its designated holding room immediately unless contact with SCP-XXXX-1 can be made.
Should SCP-XXXX-1's body be obtainable in the event of death it is to be returned to SCP-XXXX's Containment room as quickly as possibly to stay within the known time frame2 if the window is missed a replacement must be made available from the nearest authorized personnel on the preferred list
Description: SCP-XXXX looks to be standard canine of substantial size, measuring 142cm in height, 187cm in length and weighing in at 64kgs. it is always of the same appearance, medium length black fur and a long tail with brown patches on its eyebrows and around its mouth with slightly luminescent yellow eyes. SCP-XXXX is male in gender and tests show it to be in superb health and indeterminate age, possessing extreme intellect for its presumed species, understanding and carrying out tasks given in any language with the competency of an above average human, showing understanding of college level arithmetic and reading, as well as being capable of memorizing the layout of sections of the facility after one visit, and is adept at communicating with barks, growls and body language to staff members.
SCP-XXXX has been observed to be invulnerable to all physical and mental harm3 and possessing extreme strength and stamina, tests to quantify the limits of these only having been partially successful with the former4
SCP-XXXX has been shown to "bond" with select humans, creating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 as of now there seems to be no indication as to the rules or criteria of said bonding5. SCP-XXXX will follow SCP-XXXx-1, wherever possible, becoming visibly anxious if unable to locate SCP-XXXX-1 for an extended period of time, with long enough absences leading to moderate to severe hostility to surrounding organic beings.
While bonded with SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-1 has shown to be able to communicate with SCP-XXXX telepathically, though interviews of SCP-XXXX-1's withing SCP staff have all stated the dog does not speak in words and describe it as being able to feel another subconcious in their head that they feel a strong sense of empathy towards, the most notable anomaly of SCP-XXXX is that when kept in close proximity with him instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have been observed to be incapable of dying, coming back from death within hours, depending on the severity of the wounds that caused them to expire6. SCP-XXXX was discovered in a rural area by E-Class personal investigating a man reportedly coming back to life from being disintegrated by a gas explosion from hitting a pipeline with a fence-post driver, though recently reports as far back as WWI have been found referencing an individual coming back to life from a bombing on a small town in Europe.
Surveillance of SCP-XXXX's containment room during a revival show him guarding whatever remains of SCP-XXXX-1's body, growling and showing varying levels of hostility to an unseen entity from here on referred to as SCP-XXXX-2 within the room for extended periods of time, after which the injuries to SCP-XXXX-1 reverse in the exact manner they occurred, leaving them in the same physical and mental condition as before cause of death. No personnel are to enter the containment during this process, as any intervention causes the death of SCP-XXXX-1 and draws the aggression of SCP-XXXX
Addendum 1: SCP-XXXX has been shown to become increasingly hostile if not bonded after an irreversible loss of a SCP-XXXX-1 for long periods of time, or if witnessing bodily harm befall SCP-XXXX-1. Containment and Replacement procedures are to be given high priority to prevent loss of additional personnel.
Addendum 2:Tests have shown that the death of SCP-XXXX-1 is irreversible if not taken to and left in prolonged exposure to SCP-XXXX within approximately thirty minutes time.
Addendum 3: SCP-XXXX has been observed to come from the following unharmed and completely unfazed.
- 1 to 2 minutes of sustained arms fire up to a caliber of .50
- direct collision and stopping of a fully loaded semi trailer
- air to ground and ground to ground ordinance
- Fire and temperatures exceeding 500 degrees Fahrenheit
- attacks from other highly dangerous SCPs
Addendum 4: Repeated physical testing shows SCP-XXXX possesses sufficient physical strength to destroy concrete and rip open metal cars and obstacles with fairly little effort when properly motivated, and has been observed to have fully stopped a speeding fully loaded semi trailer by way of head on collision. Stamina tests remain inconclusive, as properly motivated SCP-XXXX has been recorded running at 84kmph for three days without showing any signs of physical or mental fatigue.
Addendum 5: Repeated bonding with SCP-XXXX has shown that most SCP-XXXX-1's have common traits, SCP-XXXX seeks out fellow protectors, past SCP-XXXX-1's often have records of being policemen, firemen, soldiers, as well as individuals with a driving motivation to protect others, SCP-XXXX has been observed as responding very well to the majority of the Tactical Response personnel, for containment and replacement purposes a psyche evaluation was authorized and a list of individuals meeting this criteria has been made and an initiative to attempt a bonding with SCP-XXXX and a member of a mobile task force is under advisement.
Addendum 6: Monitoring of the revival process on several different has shown SCP to behave with markedly increasing hostility to the unseen entity depending on the severity of the wounds on SCP-XXXX-1.
Case 1: Fatal stab wound, SCP-XXXX exhibits low growl and bared teeth while laying down at SCP-XXXX-2 to southern corner of room
Case 2: Multiple fatal gunshot wounds, destruction of several vital organs SCP-XXXX adopts a ready to pounce position, baring teeth, snarling and barking at SCP-XXXX-2 in southwest corner of the room.
Case 3: Loss of arm, head and major portion of torso. SCP-XXXX snarls and chomps at SCP-XXXX-2, SCP-XXXX's head can be seen tracking SCP-XXXX-2 and rushing forward to force it back
Case 4: Single ear of SCP-XXXX-1 is left in containment room, SCP-XXXX barks and snarls viciously at SCP-XXXX-2 before physically attacking it, biting and throwing it into a wall with enough force to crack reinforced concrete, before leaping on it and throwing it again, sending tremors through the facility and destroying surveillance feed, personnel entered the room to find the walls of the room riddled with cracks and gouges, with shards of white translucent fragments and scarps of black cloth littering the ground, SCP-XXXX-1 was completely regenerated but showed no signs of life, SCP-XXXX was observed to be whining softly while laying next to the body of SCP-XXXX-1. testing has shown the white fragments to be predominately composed of Calcium.
Subsequent Cases of the severity of Case 4 have been noted as having a success rate of 1 in 5, leaving SCP-XXXX visibly depressed afterwards on failures.
