Item #: SCP-5712
Object Class: Safe
Storage: Curently contained at. Sub level █ in site ████ in █████████, ███████.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5712 is to be latched down and contained in an air tight glass case in an air tight, lead lined, cell following an unfortunate incident on ██/██/████. There is to be no air flow whatsoever inside the cell. If personnel must enter the containment room, the room must be completely resealed. The glass case over SCP-5712 is not to be removed without a light blocking face shield firmly in place over the personnel's head and noise cancelling communications equipment in there possession. From there, personnel outside guide the inside personnel to make repairs. Due to the nature of SCP-5712, all surveillance camera's in the containment cell are to be placed at a lower elevation than the top of SCP-5712. Under no circumstances should personnel attempt to view the contents of SCP-5712. Since the ██/██/████ incident, new safety procedures have been put in place, and █ maintenance procedures have been completed successfully.
Description: SCP-5712 is an old metal container likely dating back to WWI. It was discovered in a burned down town home in █████, ████████. The man who first discovered the box was dead on location, but a second person he was with was able to call for help after witnessing the man's apparent death. The man, ████████ ██████, reported hearing voices of a child hood friend who committed suicide while on site and in the direction of where the box was found, but only one other instances of the tin calling out has ever been observed.
The latches on the sides of have been broken off and the hinges have been observed to completely blow back and open the container entirely. Inside the, container is filled with Polaroid Photographs (collectively known as SCP-5712-A. Each photograph is believed to be unique to whomever views it first. Based on observations, these photographs are believed to capture a happy moment from that persons life before the image changes into a twisted, evil version of the memory before going completely black. The viewer then appears to lose control as they convulse on the ground before entering a comatose state. After several minutes, viewers suffer from complete organ shutdown. Once the viewers are deceased another image appears on the Polaroid. The second image is always a deceased female in their mid-teens to early twenties. Creating the theory that the Polaroids were once the souvenirs of an never caught serial killer, but the original origins are still unknown and the identities of the bodies never confirmed. After the second transition the photographs no longer appear to hold any supernatural abilities.
Notable Incident:On ██/██/████, maintenance personnel inside the cell were found dead. Camera footage showed the tin opening and closing on its own as if it were a flag in the breeze. For an unknown reason, the box appeared to be hypersensitive to the draft created by an open door, an event that had not been observed until that point. The audio recording captured strange voices coming from inside the cell. As the men attempted to close the tin, they must have been compelled to look inside as one by one, footage recorded them falling over. When security later entered the room, a photograph for each of the deceased was found on the floor next to their bodies. This event prompted SCP-5712 to be bound and locked and for the cell to be air tight to any drafts that could cause the box to open again.
Destruction Attempts: After the ██/██/████ incident there was an attempt to destroy the SCP-5712 and all instances of SCP-5712-A. SCP-5712 was unable to be destroyed by heat, pressure, or chemicals. All instances of SCP-5712 A were able to be successfully destroyed individually, but unviewed copies would reappear inside the box instantly, while viewed copies would lie on the lid of the closed tin.
