Item #: SCP-4395

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedure: SCP-4395 is to remain at site-15 as it is the closest site to initial containment and needs to undergo classification. SCP-4395 is to be placed within a 12m by 30m by 6m containment room with a regulation 25m lap pool with a max depth of 6’ at one end and a min depth of 3’4” at the other, SCP-4395 is to be mounted to the center of the wall located along the shallow end of said lap pool approx. 5’5” off of the floor, the ceiling of the containment room is to be covered by 6 paneles of sound dampening material the only cover 40% of ceiling in total. SCP-4395-A is to be Contained within a 4m by 4m by 3.5m sound proof containment chamber at site-64, this chamber will be referred to as “Room 527”. All research is to be conducted via the soundproof observation room with a one inch thick sound dampening window. As the exact range of SCP-4395’s effects are still unknown it is to be guarded by two level 2 security personnel.

SCP-4395-B is to be contained within an impact resistant box with Padding applying pressure within the box and the lid to keep SCP-4395 in place incase of drop, said case is to be labeled and stored in Site-19 storage unit within the safe sector.

SCP-4395-B is only to be transported by either the lead researcher Dr.[Redacted] or another level 3 researcher assigned to SCP-4395 with pre authorization of lead researcher Dr.[Redacted].
Upon arrival of SCP-4395-B to Room 527‘s observation room one level 2 researcher will enter the chamber of SCP-4395-A and hang SCP-4395-B upon the hook on the main body of SCP-4395-B, MTF eta-11 are to be on standby during experimentation of either SCP-4395-A or SCP-4395-B.

Description: SCP-4359 is a two piece anomalous object consisting of a small hanging bell attached to a wall mount, this will be referred to as “SCP-4395-A” and a small mallet attached to a 6 inch red string with a loop at the end that will be referred to as “SCP-4395-B”.

The material that both SCP-4395-A and SCP-4395-B are constructed of have not been identified as of this moment but reflect similar malleability of bronze and the discoloration of aged copper but is unable to be either washed or polished off.

SCP-4395 was discovered on 08/15/2015 in [Redacted], Oregon. The foundation was alerted of its presence when an undercover operative in emergency dispatching within that area noticed an increase in passive drowning amongst staff at [redacted] pool, said pool is a public facility owned by the city of [redacted] department of recreation.

Because of the times of these events and normal routines within the facility it was apparent that the events where a cause of SCP-4395-A being struck by SCP-4395-B four times within 5 seconds with only one victim occurring within each activation event. Every activation event tends to hold a 1-2 minute delay before LoC lowers due to progressive heart dysrhythmia. Further experimentation into what events occur per # of strikes to SCP-4395-A with SCP-4395-B and other sources are put onto a temporary hold until range of SCP-4395’s effects are understood to a greater degree.

Addendum 4395-1: After recreation of prior activation events using D-Class Personnel it is apparent that the effects of SCP-4395 are only present in subjects that can hear SCP-4395 being struck and are present in a non-natural body of water or swimming pool. Further experimentation has been granted by Dr.[redacted].

Addendum 4395-2: Multiple D-Class personnel are within one pool at an equal distance of 1m when SCP-4395 is struck, only one D-Class personnel was affected and successfully resuscitated and shows no signs of long term damage.

Addendum 4395-5: One D-Class personnel was positioned 25m away when SCP-4395 is struck, D-Class personnel was effected and successfully resuscitated and showed no signs of long term damage

Addendum 4395-6: [REDACTED]. No D-Class personnel are to be fully submerged upon the striking of SCP-4395 -Dr.[Redacted]

Addendum 4395-9: Audio recording of SCP-4395 being struck was taken from approx. 14m away from outside of testing pool, after bringing one D-Class personnel into said pool audio clip was played for D-Class personnel, audio recording gave same effect of SCP-4359 but in a lower degree, D-Class personnel Progressively lowered in LoC until fainting but was able to gain consciousness upon falling over in water. All further audio recordings are to be approved by 2 level 3 researchers assigned to SCP-4395 prior to experiment.

Addendum 4395-11-A: The bell portion of SCP-4395 is struck with a normal bell mallet while one D-Class personnel is within test pool, Bell emits a much deeper tone that should be possible and emits a short high tone note as ringing ends

Addendum 4395-11-B: The mallet portion of SCP-4395 is used to strike a normal bell while one D-Class personnel is within test pool, Bell does not produce sound but causes great discomfort in D-Class personnel, upon asking what is wrong the D-Class personnel complained of a high pitch ringing but Audio recording shows no presence of any pitch or frequency outside of base levels. Further research into this has been denied by Dr.[redacted].

Addendum 4395-12: it is at this point that SCP-4395 is identified to be 2 Anomalous objects, SCP-4395-A and SCP-4395-B, both objects are to be relocated to site-19 by MTF eta-11 per request of Dr.[redacted]. Request later approved by 05-7.
