An engraving of SCP-XXXX, dated to 1567. Note the differing date that is on the bell.
Containment Update: Rust build up occuring on SCP-XXXX leads towards manifestations of SCP-XXXX-2 individuals. In order to prevent rusting and summoning of SCP-XXXX-2 Individuals from occuring, a mixture of 30% liquid tungsten, 25% saline or seawater, and 55% Sodium carbonate is to be supplied through a drip system, with doses of 1 liter each being supplied weekly. This process is to be only put into action by a staff member or D-Class subject aged 80 or older.
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be hung from a 1 meter wide support beam, and high enough to prevent accidental contact. This support beam is to be hung from a standard containment cell, with the cell to be fitted with a draining and filtration system. Furthermore, the containment cell walls are to be constructed out of noise-cancelling foam.
When not in testing, a noise-cancelling foam is to be placed in the upper area of SCP-XXXX's inner bell. This foam is to be removed during cleaning, and later desposed of.
During transport to testing chambers, SCP-XXXX is to be wrapped in noise cancelling foam, and to be carried by an automated system.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a metallic bell, constructed at an unknown time period in Roseafar, Scotland.
When SCP-XXXX is rung by a human subject, without rust on the bell, an entity labled SCP-XXXX-1 will manifest for a period of up to ten minutes.
SCP-XXXX-1 figures are white, partially translucent individuals who have been deceased for a time period greater then 1 year, who have a strong connection with the individual who rang the bell. SCP-XXXX-1 figures are harmless, and will pose no threat to the ringer.
An engraving of an SCP-XXXX-1 figure.
It has been observed1 that an SCP-XXXX-1 entity 'lives' longer if SCP-XXXX is rung with great intensity and produces a loud note, greater then 152 Hertz.
Update: Rust has been observerd occuring on SCP-XXXX, with aboit three milimeters of rust occuring daily. As of █/██/████, it has been discovered that when a human subject rings SCP-XXXX while the object is rusted2, a unique entity known as SCP-XXXX-2 can be summoned. It has been suggested that when completely covered in rust, SCP-XXXX is able to summon SCP-XXXX-2 individuals without human contact.
While similar to SCP-XXXX-1 Specimens, SCP-XXXX-2 individuals differ in apperance and behavior. The following is known:
- SCP-XXXX-2 individuals have a red tint to the body structure, and are opaque.
- SCP-XXXX-2 individuals have a 'dominating' personality, and when compared to SCP-XXXX-1 individuals, are more negative and distant when interacting with the ringer.
- SCP-XXXX-2 individuals are classifed as cognitohazards, able to tranfer negative emotions, traumatic experiences and trigger strong feelings of guilt.
Rust build-up has been discovered to be occur shortly after a summon of SCP-XXXX-1, with roughly one third of the bell base developing rust, shortly after ringing.
History & Recovery Information: SCP-XXXX was originally discovered in Roseafar, Scotland.
Roseafar, Scotland.
Originally a Deadbell3, SCP-XXXX was frequently used by citizens in the village, often for religious ceramonies and festivals. According to a senior member of the St. August's church in Roseafar, SCP-XXXX was considered to be a holy item, and was used to wish for harvests and to celebrate dead members of the community. A special ceremony known as the 'The Red Gost agon' was conducted to remove rust from SCP-XXXX, and to prevent summons of SCP-XXXX-2 individuals from occuring. This ceremony involved a dying member of the community to baptize the bell in a mixture of liquid tungsten, saline or seawater, and Sodium carbonate. A special song was sung during the cerenomy, viewable as a transcript below.
With Roseafar being located in a remote area, outside contact with SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 individuals was unheard of, until recently. On █/██/████ a large population of SCP-XXXX-1 individuals had been sighted, leading to frantic calls regarding ghost sightings. After being alerted by Scottish authorities, the Scottish branch of The Foundation confiscated SCP-XXXX. Wide-scale class-A amnestic gases were later supplied to members of Roseafar.
Addendum No.1: SCP-XXXX Testing Log.
Two tests have been conducted, with Dr. Amie Amarte being the lead test subject in both. The following transcripts are for the 'white', and 'red' tests.
