Item #: SCP-3854

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-3854 has been placed in a secure steel vault with a 10cm-thick door of titanium, which is to be surrounded by another layer of concrete and another titanium door (thus sealing SCP-3854 inside two layers of security). Monitoring of SCP-3854 is redundant and has therefore not been installed.

Description: SCP-3854's shape is almost entirely unknown due to its anomalous properties. D-class personnel exposed to SCP-3854 (who are hereafter referred to as SCP-3854-1) are unable to recall any events that transpired since they entered the chamber, and furthermore will deny that any such events have ever happened. Although the strength of the denial varies on a per-specimen basis, no Foundation employees have heretofore been able to access the memories of SCP-3854-1 instances; it is therefore suspected that the entity in some fashion impairs an observer's ability to create long-term memories of it.

It is hypothesized that SCP-3854 is a creature of some kind, in part because of the vault sustaining damage over time, and partially because testing of D-class staff has yielded results indicating a sentient occupant; such people have sustained ████, ████, █████, and ████ during the course of the testing. When confronted about the cause of these injuries, they give a typically vague response, though all polygraphs have indicated truthfulness to the best of their knowledge. Consistent with expectations, investigations into the claims have never supported SCP-3854-1 accounts. (These findings are typically sufficient to convince an SCP-3854-1 instance that the anomalous effects of SCP-3854 are behind their memory loss.)

The injuries sustained by SCP-3854-1 instances appear non-anomalous and can be treated by conventional methods.

Addendum 3854-A: Further testing has indicated that SCP-3854 appears to inflict violence on recording devices; all tests with methods of recording have resulted in the recording equipment being mangled beyond repair. Ways of destruction have included ████ and [DATA EXPUNGED], neither of which is practically possible to undo with the Foundation's capabilities. A list of experiments performed with SCP-3854 follows.

Test 3854-A - 23/5/██
Method of Recording: █████-brand EOS 80D DSLR camera with 18-135mm IS USM lens
Subject: [REDACTED], D-7853
Result: D-7853 exited the first chamber a few minutes after the experiment began and the second shortly thereafter, displaying a fearful expression. He did not have the camera. When prompted by Dr. ██████ as to the cause of his consternation, D-7853's face shifted and he claimed that he didn't know what Dr. ██████ was talking about. D-7853 had moderate burns along the left and right arms and his left humerus was broken. When asked about the cause of these injuries, D-7853 replied with the fallacious statement "I have a tough job" and mentioned his career in logging, which he no longer has as a result of his conviction and subsequent transfer into the Foundation. Due to the localization of the injuries, it is inferred that SCP-3854 targeted the camera and forced D-7853 to drop it, at which point D-7853 exited the quarters.

Test 3854-B - 16/2/██
