Item-#: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Maksur

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX-1 is to be contained inside of a Light Containment Room on Site-28, where it is to be guarded round-the-clock by two armed guards. The room is to be with no specific or complicated locking systems. SCP-XXXX-1 is to be held above an elevated pedestal with a silver reflective surface in the centre of the room, where it is suspended facedown 10cm above the pedestal by steel wires from the top surface of the pedestal to avoid direct eye contact with the surface of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 should be able to be raised by use of a pulley system, or winch, automatically at the request of personnel of clearance rank Level 2 or above.

SCP-XXXX-2 is contained inside site-36, and is to be contained in identical methods to SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX-A is to be held in a Medium Security Humanoid Containment cell at Site-06-3, made of reinforced concrete with no widows and a triple locked, bio-metric locking system1. The walls are to be lined with a layer of down padding, held together by Kevlar. SCP-XXXX-1A is to receive no human contact, and is to be fed 3 times a day, at exactly 0900, 1300, and 1930, as his mental state cannot deal with change. His cell must be sound-proofed with industrial-grade sound-proofing. SCP-XXXX-A MUST NOT BE GIVEN ANY UTENSILS WITH WHICH TO CONSUME FOOD, ESPECIALLY KNIVES, FORKS, CERAMIC PLATES, OR OTHER PLATES THAT CAN SHATTER.

Description:

SCP-XXXX-1 is a triangular piece of tertiary-era sandstone roughly 50cm high and 40cm wide at it's widest point. SCP-XXXX has Ancient Mayan style characters engraved onto the surface of the stone. However, clearly carved on the surface of SCP-XXXX-1 is the Mayan symbol for 1, a large dot. The characters have been reported to be in the style of the lucrative ██████ Mayan civilisation, a splinter group of Mayan population originating on the far-east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. Differing Mayan texts discovered near the area explain how the ██████ people would reportedly ‘Dismember fellow humans, submerge their body in a vat of boiling blood, and offer them to the Gods.’ Also, in these texts, the ██████ people would use SCP-XXXX-1 (referred to in the text as ‘████████████, The Awakening of Soul and Mind’) as a sort of Standard when engaging in battle.

The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX-1 have also been alluded to in these documents. Upon observing SCP-XXXX-1, warriors reportedly ‘fell down heavily- as if they had been struck in the knees or shin- regardless of armour or other protection’. When the text on the surface of SCP-XXXX-1 is read by the observer, the subject will experience an intense migraine, and convulse violently, similarly to a seizure. Once the subject loses consciousness, blood is observed to rapidly congregate in the head, and a hormone attributed to neuronal growth is secreted, causing rapid neurone production, leading to increased mass of brain size and severe Cerebral Edema, or brain swelling. The growth of the brain results in greatly increased IQ and advanced knowledge of the self, and other human beings. This includes dangerous knowledge of other SCPs, including SCP-001 SCP-3999, as well as GOI-004. After 2-3 days, the Subject’s brain has expanded so greatly that the blood vessels inside the head become constricted, reducing blood flow to the brain, and the lack of oxygen means the brain shuts down and the subject enters a vegetative state, from which it is not possible to wake from, effectively leaving the Subject dead. Exactly 1460 days after reading the text on the face of SCP-XXXX-1, the subject will wake from a 4 year coma. The subject will now be designated SCP-XXXX-A. There is only one case of SCP-XXXX-A, formerly Dr. Gregori Ephastus, who is held in containment at Site-06-3.

SCP-XXXX-1 was discovered in 19██, by archaeologists exploring the █████████ Temple on the east coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. Foundation personnel moved into the site and apprehended SCP-XXXX-1 after reports of archaeologists suddenly becoming temporarily paralysed in a state of shock. It was revealed that wearing glasses or sunglasses blocking direct sight with SCP-XXXX-1 mitigate the non-severe effects of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 can also be viewed using a mirror or other reflective surface.

The Altar on which SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 were found on.

SCP-XXXX-2 is an identical piece of sandstone, however is carbon dated from 634 BC. This is anomalous in itself as it is impossibly young, and yet after many chemical tests and carbon-dating retests, it has proven to be a true sandstone artifact. The only difference between SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 is that SCP-XXXX-2 has instead of a symbol for '1' it has the Mayan symbol of '2'. SCP-XXXX-2 has no observable anomalous features, however as it contains the exact same inscription as SCP-XXXX-1, it is presumed to also have the ability to create instances of SCP-XXXX-'x'.

SCP-XXXX-2 was discovered next to SCP-XXXX-1, on top of an altar made of marble with a crescent-shaped indent in which SCP-XXXX-1 was held. SCP-XXXX was deemed 'Maksur' after carvings on the altar translated to 'The Three Segments of Reality and Conscience: ██████████, █████████, and The Awakening of Soul and Mind'. The inclusion of a third name in the list has lead the Foundation to believe that a third instance of SCP-XXXX exists, and drawings around the base of the altar show images of destruction and death with a crescent shape floating above the disorder. This crescent is believed to be a drawing of the complete SCP-XXXX. Humanoid figures are also present on the Altar, and are drawn with lines coming away from their heads. These are presumed to be instances of SCP-XXXX-'x'.

Formerly Dr. Gregori Ephastus, SCP-XXXX-A is a human who has been subject to reading the inscription on the front of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A manifest 1460 days and 3 minutes after first observing the front side of SCP-XXXX-1, after the subject wakes from a 4 year coma. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A will appear no different from normal human beings, and tests show no genetic alterations from normal human beings. However, instances of SCP-XXXX-A are highly intelligent, knowledgeable and incredibly persuasive. Instances of SCP-XXXX-A are also very prone to suicidal tendencies2 and have low attention spans, as well as being very un-focused and distant from the real world, often ignoring personnel inside their containment cell as if there were no one there. SCP-XXXX-A also shows incredibly high levels of pain resistance and adversity to damage, surviving injuries in which a normal human would perish.3

Incident 1-A 02/04/16:

Foundation staff find SCP-XXXX-A lying down in his cell, facing away from the door. Upon closer inspection, SCP-XXXX-A is unconscious. Next to him is a smashed plate (4 larger pieces and many small particles), a knife and a fork. All six significant objects objects had obvious traces of blood, which matched the blood type of SCP-XXXX-A. On SCP-XXXX-A's person, he had suffered 7 stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, and 14 and 17 slits on his left and right arms respectively. All wounds were self inflicted, as video recordings of SCP-XXXX-A show him smashing a plate, piercing himself with the larger fragments and a fork, and slashing his wrists with a knife. SCP-XXXX-A is sedated for a 6 week period to allow for his wounds to fully heal.

Incident 2-A 28/09/17:

Similarly to Incident 1-A, SCP-XXXX-A is found lying on the floor next to the wall opposite the door unconscious. However, there are no items found around SCP-XXXX-A or in his possession. On the wall are blood stains covering an approximately 750cm2 circular area. On his person, SCP-XXXX-A suffers a fractured skull and is sedated for a 10 week period to allow for his wounds to fully heal. Video recordings show SCP-XXXX-A slamming his head against the wall 19 times before he collapses on the floor and doesn't move.

The following is an audio transcript of Foundation personnel Dr. Bridge during an interview with SCP-XXXX-A.

Interview - SCP-XXXX-A - 1

Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-A

Interviewer: Dr. Bridge

Foreword: Following the awakening of SCP-XXXX-A, Foundation superiors have decided to interview SCP-XXXX-A, asking him a variety of questions to test his cognitive ability and Foundation knowledge.

<Begin Log>

Interviewer: Hello, My name is Dr. Bridge. I am here to ask you several questions. Is that okay?

SCP-XXXX-A: Yes, I see no objection to that.

Interviewer: Thank you. Let's begin. Can you remember what you were thinking after you read the front of SCP-XXXX?

<SCP-XXXX-A does not reply.>

Interviewer: Excuse me, Dr. Gregori?

SCP-XXXX-A: I can remember few things. I read it, poor, feeble mined and weak. I went through a period of teaching, a course if you will, now I have awoken, ascended from human plains of reality and capable of enlightening the whole world! Will you help me?

Interviewer: [Moves around on seat, agitated.]I'm sorry but I am not permitted by the Foundation to interact with you other than through means of interview, such as this, and even then I am limited to what I can ask.

SCP-XXXX-A: ██████████,█████████████████████████████, I know the secrets ███████████████████████████████.████████████████████████, I know what they are hiding from you. ████████████████████ Resist man! You are a mere sheep, shepherded by an invisible force unknown to you. But I can enlighten you, for you see, ███████████████████████,███████████████████████████████.4

Interviewer: Site Security, this is Dr. Bridge. Request Class-A amnestics for myself. Return SCP-XXXX-A to his Containment Cell immediately. This interview is terminated. God, fuck-

<End Log>

Closing Statement: Dr. Bridge is now Dr Bridge is to be boiled in a vat of blood administered Class-A amnestics and demoted to D-Class personnel.

Object Class - Safe Neutralised
Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be contained inside of a Light Containment Room on Site █, where it is to be guarded round-the-clock by two armed guards. The room is to be with no specific or complicated locking systems. SCP-XXXX is to be held above an elevated pedestal with a silver reflective surface in the centre of the room, where it is suspended facedown █cm by titanium wires from the top surface of the pedestal to avoid direct eye contact with the surface of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX should be able to be raised by use of a pulley system, or winch, automatically at the request of personnel of clearance rank Level 2 or above.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a circular-shaped piece of tertiary-era sandstone roughly 50cm long and 40cm wide with cryptic Ancient Mayan style characters engraved onto the surface of the stone. The characters have been reported to be in the style of the incredibly lucrative ██████ Mayan civilisation, a seemingly cult-ish from of Mayan population originating on the far-east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. Differing Mayan texts discovered near the area explain how the ██████ people would reportedly ‘Dismember fellow humans, submerge their body in a vat of boiling blood, and offer them to the Gods.’ Also, in these texts, the ██████ people would use SCP-XXXX (referred to in the text as ‘████████████, The Awakening of Soul and Mind’) as a sort of Standard when engaging in battle.

The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX have also been alluded to in these documents. Upon observing SCP-XXXX, warriors reportedly ‘fell down heavily- as if they had been struck in the knees or shin- regardless of armour or other gracious5 protection’. When the text on the surface of SCP-XXXX is read by the observer, the subject will experience an intense migraine, and convulse violently in uncontrollable muscle spasms, similar to a seizure. Once the subject loses consciousness, blood is observed to rapidly congregate in the head, and a hormone attributed to neuronal growth is secreted, leading to increased mass of brain size and severe Cerebral Edema, or brain swelling. The growth of the brain results in greatly increased IQ and advanced knowledge of the self, and other human beings. This includes [DATA EXPUNGED], as well as [DATA EXPUNGED].

Test A – 12/3/12

Subject: Dr. G Ephastus

Procedure: Mayan language expert, Dr. Gregori Ephastus is to read the inscription on the front face of SCP-XXXX.

Results: Immediately after comprehending the words on SCP-XXXX, Dr. Ephastus proceeds to appear to have a seizure on the floor of the room. He is tranquilized and escorted to the infirmary. Upon his awakening, he starts to speak in unknown, possibly extra-terrestrial languages. He then shouts how he has ‘seen the end of the world’, ‘discovered the true meaning of human life on this earth’ and ‘this disfigured reality will only lead to the next upon destruction’. Dr. Ephastus then enters a coma. Autopsies reveal how his brain increased in size by over 150% of a normal adult brain, putting immense pressure on his cranial arteries.

Analysis: The inscription on the face of SCP-XXXX harbours a supernatural, anomalous power.

As the only Professor of Mayan language who can read the inscription on the front of SCP-XXXX, and the only known person to be able to read the inscription has been killed, SCP-XXXX has been deemed neutralised as no severe anomalous properties can be initiated.
