Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored and catalogued with other anomalous items of similar size. SCP-XXXX is to be kept away from any device that measures weight unless approved for testing.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small coin resembling a US Quarter circa 198█. Attempts to gather an accurate weight have proven yield insubstantial results. When held, the coin feels the same weight as, if not slightly lighter than, a standard Quarter. When placed on various scales, the readings show weights from 5g to 47,454,834kg. ( See Addendum XXXX-1* )

SCP-XXXX always falls “Heads Down/Tails Up” when flipped or dropped, tho no explanation can currently be discerned. The coin was originally observed by a researcher at a casino in ████ ███████, ████████, USA upon the person of a notorious gambler. The subject used this particular anomalous property to settle debts stating “Heads I pay, Tails I walk away.” It was when the subject dropped the coin that it’s ability to always land “Tails up” was observed. Subject dropped the coin near a staircase in the casino and the coin halted at the edge of each step, each time showing the tails end of the coin. The researcher procured SCP-XXXX before the subject could descend the stairs. Subject attempted to use another coin when a loan shark approached him. It landed “Heads up” and he had to pay.

Addendum XXXX-1

Test A - 03/0█/201█

Subject: Digital Scale with 4kg capacity.

Procedure: Weigh objects of similar size and shape along with SCP-XXXX, such as: Small fruit, other coins, stones, etc..

Results: All other objects displayed results within their respective expected ranges. SCP-XXXX was weighed various times, each resulting in weight beyond logical expectations. The final test resulted in the coin penetrating through the scale, stopping only upon contacting the research table, rendering the scale inoperable for further testing. Recorded measurements: 50g, 1.07kg, 3.99kg, broken.

Analysis: Inconclusive. Further testing will be executed once approval for a higher capacity scale is approved. -Dr. Timothy D. ████████

Test B - 03/1█/201█

Subject: Large automotive scale.

Procedure: Several faculty weighed their vehicles out of curiosity, this was deemed acceptable to establish a base measurement.

Results: 500kg, 80kg, error, 2,000kg, 3,027.24kg, broken.

Analysis: Interesting discovery. Using D-Class personnel to place SCP-XXXX onto the scale, the scale would output the weight of the D-Class personnel. Once it was placed upon the scale, the output would show the D-Class’ weight until they stepped off the scale. Testing halted after one of the scales hydraulics had a pressure leak typically associated with exceeding weight capacity. -Dr. Timothy D. ████████

Test C - 04/0█/201█

Subject: Industrial Scale used in weighing nautical and aerial ships.

Procedure: Test for outputs of SCP-XXXX by itself and placed upon various objects.

Results: 10,000kg, 8,795kg, error, 20,382.59kg, error, error, 47,454,834kg, error, error.

Analysis: Upon contacting the manufacturer of the scale, I have been informed that the scale was not designed to output anything higher than the Titanic. The coin once again resulted in predictable readings when placed upon another object, and various readings when directly placed upon the scale. Further research on the weight of SCP-XXXX shall be halted until further notice. -Dr. Timothy D. ████████
