SCP-085-J

Object class: Euclid

Special containment procedure: Revised on ██-██-████]. SCP-085 is to be contained in a pencil sketch based comic book locked in a soundproof room in a secure containment facility. Supervised contact with SCP-085 is unrestricted to all personnel who does not share the appearance of actress Bunty Bailey. All personnel coming into contact with SCP-085 are subject to searches and random psych analysis upon entering or leaving the containment area. Additionally, all blonde female personnel will receive further analysis to ensure SCP-085-J has not caused any undesirable effects.

Absolutely no paper or canvas media are allowed to exit SCP-085's containment room: any paper trash must be disposed of by incineration after careful inspection. Paper and art supplies are to be brought in only by authorized personnel. In case of fire, flames are smothered using a rapid atmospheric-replacement and CO2-dumping system. Personnel are advised to quickly secure an oxygen mask and tank from the wall at the first sign of smoke or fire to prevent asphyxiation, as this procedure cannot be halted until all fires are suppressed.

Description: SCP-085 is the result of an experiment conducted between SCP-067 and SCP-914. Using SCP-067, Test Subject-1101J drew a single male figure, about 15 cm (6 in) in height and 3.8 cm (1.5 in) wide, in a leather jacket and a scarf with short hair greased back into a "greaser" look, with the name "A-ha" written underneath. Dr. [EXPUNGED] proposed using SCP-914 on various images created by SCP-067: Using the [Fine] setting, in efforts to curb SCP-085 (actual)'s depression. This sketch was transmuted into his present form: a sentient black-and white-animated young male drawn in rough strokes. All previous attempts to duplicate this result have been unsuccessful. All later attempts were met with failure.

SCP-085-J is completely sentient and aware of his 2D form and his limitations in a three-dimensional world. Although his voice is inaudible, he has learned to communicate with SCP Foundation personnel through sign language and the popular song "Take on me" by the band "A-ha". SCP-085-J may be communicated with by gesturing, writing text on the paper he exists on (writing on the original comic book is impossible but SCP-085-J can leave the comic to communicate on other paper) or entering the comic and gesturing mutely. Personnel report that he is kind and flirtatious, albeit overconfident.

SCP-085-J can interact with any drawn object on the same page as if it were real. For example, he is able to wear drawn clothing, drive his sketched motorcycles, and drink painted beverages. Except for animals and people, any drawn object becomes animated when in contact with SCP-085-J, but immediately ceases and holds position once out of contact. Artwork initially depicted as in motion such as ocean waves and swaying trees animate to an equilibrium state and stay at rest until acted upon by SCP-085-J.

SCP-085-J has also demonstrated the ability to transfer from one sheet or image to another, as long as the two are flush. In the event SCP-085-J enters a picture that does not support drawn objects (such as a repeating pattern), the picture is converted to a background image. SCP-085-J perceives the picture as an endless plane of the image drawn upon it.

At the present time, SCP-085-J can only exist upon paper or canvas surfaces without issue: SCP-085-J cannot transfer onto photos, cardboard, glass, or parchment without the music playing on loop to begin to sound corrupted and SCP-085-J being thrown around violently as if being beaten up by the two villains at the end of the comic. When entering other pieces of art, SCP-085-J changes the artistic style of the new environment to match his (whether it be a comic book, an oil painting, watercolor, or charcoal sketching). Note: SCP-085-J has the ability to reach out of the page with no visible effects or discomfort and will appear human if looking in a drawn mirror but any attempt to pull SCP-085-J out of the page was met with failure.

SCP-085-J has the ability to drag whomever into his comic should he desire it by reaching out of the page and gesturing to grab on. This is a rare occurrence and seems to only be to drag an attractive female though the events of his comic. This event is observed to be a 1980s style mating ritual and lasts the duration of one loop of take on me by A-ha. the event ends when SCP-085-J is confronted by two motorcycles mechanics. SCP-085-J then throws whoever was with him out of the comic and then is beaten to death. This is temporary as when the music loops so does the comic.

Further excursions into SCP-085-J were banned unless approved by O5 personnel as Subject-1101J became infatuated with SCP-085-J and was clinically depressed to witness his death.

Incident blank-2: SCP-085-J was approved to come into contact with SCP-085A. SCP-085A was unable to enter the comic however through some discomfort and impressive motorcycle skills SCP-085-J was able to transfer over. SCP-085-J attempted to initiate his flirtatious ritual but realizing he had nothing but his motorcycle SCP-085-J simply began conversation. After a few minutes SCP-085A challenged SCP-085-J to a race with her mustang. SCP personnel marveled at how quickly the two managed to go nowhere. Unfortunately as the music faded and began to loop SCP-085A became distressed as what appeared to happen was SCP-085-J "reset" and was being pulled back into his comic. SCP-085A attempted to grab on to SCP-085-J and follow but was left behind. SCP-085-J was then returned to his comic and immidiatley tried to flirt with an assistant researcher in the room. When researchers explained this as why SCP-085-J refuses to see SCP-085A, SCP-085A refused further contact remarking "Alfred Tennyson is a hack" possibly in reference to the famous quote "Tis better to have love and lost…"

SCP-085A is now markedly more depressed and SCP-085-J is markedly more annoying.

Incident whatever: Dr. Bright is no longer allowed to make "memes", "mashups", or any other alterations to "take on me" by A-ha and play said music in the same room as SCP-085-J. This caused [DATA expunged] to happen to the comic book. to save SCP-085-J's life, SCP-085-J was transferred to an exact replica of the original copy of the comic following the incident and the original destroyed. All personnel afflicted with ear worm syndrome are being treated with minimal issue. No further incidents occurred.
