SCP-XXXX out of case
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in its original satchel in a storage locker Area 17 of site 53. Contact with the device is only to be made by D level personnel and Researchers with level 3 Security Clearance.
When in use SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a site observation office and the device and Personnel are to be kept under observation. No interaction with users of the device is to occur until the subject either finishes of their own accord or expires.
If any instances of SCP-XXXX-01 are located by the foundation then these are to be catalogued, debriefed and administered Amnesiacs , from that point they are to be treated as D class personnel linked to the SCP-XXXX project.
Any Instances of SCP-XXXX-02 that are found are to be destroyed immediately to prevent further potential exposure
Description: SCP-XXXX is a Leather satchel style Case approximately 12 inches in height and 18 inches across containing a Laptop Computer. SCP-XXXX was found in Central London ██/██/████ By foundation personnel on the report of an anomaly manifesting as a Beach had appeared localised in a London flat. When security personnel arrived they found the Previous owner Anita Blakely (Later Identified as an SCP-XXXX-01) working on the laptop on said beach. The anomaly lasted no longer than 24 hours and both SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-01 were collected and returned to site 53 with no issues. An instance of SCP-XXXX-02 was found in the front pocket of the satchel on collection. The case appears to be made of leather of unknown origin ( Current dating or closer examination has not been possible as the case appears resistant to all forms of damage) in an oxblood colour. The laptop which currently appears to be of Brand ████ and model number ████████ is silver and approximately 16 inches from corner to corner. When it was first Brought to the foundations attention it resembled an older model laptop. Namely a ████ ███ model ████████ due to the nature of the machine to "update" its appearance it has been theorized that it may have at one point been a different device entirely. Research is ongoing to this effect . The outside of the device is adorned with stickers from various Software products and internet "Meme" culture. it is running a somewhat unknown Operating system which is self labelled as "Development OS" (SCP-XXXX-1) according to the OS the machine has 1023Tb (Terabytes) of RAM and an unknown hard drive capacity. Any attempt to search the hard drive of the device returns a list of thousands of files some dated as early as ██/██/1892 and some are written using characters of an unknown language, but as of ██/██/20██ we have only been able to access the following:
- A Text document depicting the release of various different "version 1.0" applications with release dates and locations of "Release". Researchers Believe that these may be instances of other anomalies some of which the Foundation has knowledge dates in this list go back to before Records so verification may be impossible but the dates recorded on some "releases" as well as the names correspond to several known scps such as :
- A software program titled "The Universal IDE" layout and general user interface of the software conform to general Coding "integrated development environment" applications that many software engineers use although the corresponding code files conform to no known coding language and seem to update by themselves if left for any periods of time. ( This may be due to instances of SCP-XXXX-01 or SCP-XXXX-02 that are in the open but the foundation has yet to confirm this )
- A list of "Credits" containing names of people that have supposedly come into contact with SCP-XXXX or SCP-XXXX-01 and expired. All D class personnel that have been exposed to the device have appeared by name on the list when the instance of SCP-XXXX-02 has appeared (excluding subject D-96548 See experiment 28a for details)
The device Itself contains no port for charging despite its outward appearance of a ████ Laptop and is powered by an power source that has yet to be identified .. Any attempts to disassemble the device have led exposure and eventual death of subject.
Effects:
Upon coming into contact with SCP-XXXX subjects immediately have the urge to complete basic tasks on the machine ( at least at a surface level) such as looking through the accessible files and exploring the interface. IF the subject is not an instance of SCP-XXXX-01 they usually quickly lose interest in the artefact and wish to leave the testing area to return to other work. It is Theorized that the unit "Connects" to users at this initial stage to verify if the user is suitable.
24 hours after exposure to SCP-XXXX subjects usually are capable of going about other testing duties and pastimes. most subjects do note that a feeling of nausea has come over them at this time and 95% of subjects are unwilling to leave their room.
48 hours after exposure subjects appear have lost approximately 75% of their previous body fat and look emaciated and starved. At this point medical teams can still find nothing physically wrong with the subjects but body fat continues to vanish from the subjects. when the fat percentage reaches 0% subjects begin to lose muscle mass and bone density. As the subject approaches the 72 hours mark after exposure usually they are no longer able to stand or speak but still show no medical reason for the wasting and loss of tissue.
approximately 72 hours after Exposure to SCP-XXXX the subjects vitals cease (There appears to be an anomalous window of approximately 5 minutes around this mark) once the subject has expired a message appears on the screen of SCP-XXXX stating the deceased subjects name and the following message "Thank you for your donation your name has been added to the credit list. a new dev release of the OS is now available for distribution, ████ Builds remain before release ", and SCP-XXXX will fabricate a usb in the front pocket of its satchel containing a single Executable file (SCP-XXXX-02). The amount of builds remaining decreases with each passing subject.
SCP-XXXX-01: These are Selected Users of the Device Those that are able to Use the device with none of the deadly effects that are seen in other users. The only known instances of SCP-XXXX-01 are the Subject of test 28a (D-96548) and the last known owner of the artefact before it became foundation property. SCP-XXXX-01 only seems to be created with a small number of people. Testing has shown that both known instances of SCP-XXXX-01 share a latent genome that links them both to a common ancestry at some point. Test subjects are to be tested for this genome before entering any testing is to take place. Limiting instances of SCP-XXXX-01 is to be maintained to 2 active instances at a time. Subjects with this Genetic make up come away from the device with no adverse effects whatsoever. appearing instead to have gained an understanding of the language that the code is written in as well as how it applies to all things. Interviews with instances of SCP-XXXX-01 also show that they are not able to speak of the main application that the machine is building even if they have taken an active part in adding code. All SCP-XXXX-01 know of the machine is a name for the original creator and the working title of the main build. These two items appear to be the only information that users can get from looking at the code that makes up the artefact the Original users name is █████████ and the working title of the software is labelled "New Dawn 1.0" ( there is speculation on what this can mean but nothing worth noting in official reports)
SCP-XXXX-02: is run then the OS is run in virtual state one whatever machine the Instance is attached to and the subject currently using the machine is exposed to the same instances as SCP-XXXX the only difference is on completion of the task. No new instances of SCP-XXXX-02 are created.
Experimentation Notes:
Due to the unknown Aspect of what application is being built in this machine currently and the countdown to a Prospective Release and given its Possible connections with SCP-4463 and SCP-5024. The foundation has limited all further experiments on SCP-XXXX without clearance and consent from level 2 Foundation personnel.
Further Experiments are to be carried out on instances of SCP-XXXX-01 under controlled conditions to try and gain further understanding of the code and to try and obtain the effects of the "New Day" software that is currently in development
