McGabes Joel SCP-33527

Item #: SCP-5971

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5971 is allowed to roam however he pleases. He sometimes spends time in its 16x16x16 ft containment unit. However, SCP-5971 is to be locked out of its containment unit at night and forced to roam. This may be based out of superstition, but we wish to be safe while we investigate. For more information, visit Addendum for Incident 5791-1

Description: SCP-5971 is a humanoid being made of a flesh like substance. Its head has mandibles and eight eyes, resembling an ogre-faced spider's face. Instead of arms, it has two crab-like claws. SCP-5971’s appearance is disturbing at first to almost all D-class personnel tested, the flesh-like surface of its body begins to look comforting after a while however. After five minutes of exposure to the SCP, D-class personnel have described 5971’s skin as looking more like candy. SCP-5971 is sentient and is indifferent to being contained. At night, SCP-5971 will wish to guard the bed of a staff member, and is able to know the staff members name without ever being told. SCP-5971 believes that it is saving the staff members from a monster that will kill them while they are sleeping. While it has put up verbal resistance if contained at night, it has never used force. SCP-5971 has on rare occasion asked to guard other SCPs during the night, with particular interest in SCP-423. In SCP-423’s notebook, we see no signs of communication.

Addendum:

Incident 5971-1: SCP-5971 was detained overnight asking to guard a security guard named John. John was found the next morning dead of shock. It was later learned that John suffered from mental illness. Three theories have arisen about the incident.

The security guard thought that he saw something, and died of shock from whatever he saw.
The security guard was killed by a monster and 5971 was right.
5971 is somewhat telepathic and could tell that the security guard was suffering from extreme night terrors.
If the second one was true, it could be catastrophic. Thus, 5971 is left out of its containment at night.

Interview between Dr. Hendershot and 5971

Foreword: Dr. Hendershot wanted to determine if SCP-5971 had any other motives.

<Begin Log>

Dr. Hendershot: You say that you want to defeat the monsters at night. Is there anything else you want?

5971: I must defend you from the monsters. Keter. They are Keter.

Dr. Hendershot: How do you know what Keter means?

5971: Didn’t you say. Anyway, make the monsters SCP-1000. Make them Keter.

Dr. Hendershot: We have already classified an SCP to that number.

SCP-5971 seizes to speak afterwards. It seemed disappointed.
