Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a 10 x 10 x 10 meter room. Half of the room is a air tight space with foliage and earth for the being to live within, as well as plenty of food for it to eat. The rest of the room is an observatory for personnel to overlook the everyday life of the entity and see what its habits, routines, and other such things, are.

The entity is not designated as a singular living thing, but a colony of living things. It is a colony of average sized, parasitic insects with mandibles that can rip off large amounts of flesh in one large bite. The colony of insects has one Queen that controls it every year, then the Queen dies at the end of the year to let another replace it.

Guidelines require that in addition to the various plants, dirt, and hive, the colony must be constantly fed rancid meat that has no qualities of living. These insects will eat any form of meat they come across, including human flesh. If having eaten the recently removed flesh of a living creature, the insects will gain the intelligence of said creature. Due to this possibility, the meat fed to SCP-XXXX is required to be decayed and rancid in order to avoid possible intelligence boosts.

And as a way to prevent overpopulation, the overseers of the colony will select a cluster of the bugs and shut them off from the rest of the hive before releasing a small animal, that contains a poisonous, lab tested chemical inside it, into the shut off area of the hive for the selected to consume. After many minutes following the consumption, the insects will eventually die after their internal organs critically fail. A key factor in this solution is that the Queen can never be allowed to consume the poisonous creature even at the end of its reign.

Description: The standard occupants of the SCP-XXXX hive resembles that of a warrior wasp with more body mass and plated armor like that of a rhinoceros beetle. Its lengthy and solid mandibles can rip apart flesh with a single bite if given the chance. Its wings can be concealed underneath its back armor and the most dangerous feature of SCP-XXXX is its retractable stinger on its rear end. This stinger cannot break off when used, and the primary ability for this part of the insect is to plug itself into the nervous system of its host to take control of its body.

Additional Notes: These bugs have extremely low intelligence on their own, but after they were discovered, they were confirmed to have the ability to burrow into the bodies of alive or dead living beings and take control of the organisms after eating their way through the flesh.

Once the bug has seized control of the nervous system of its host, it will eat away at what is left internally. In turn, the bug will gain the intelligence boost of whatever it had consumed prior and gain control of the body. If these creatures consumed humans, they could gain a massive boost in intelligence.

If SCP-XXXX has burrowed into something after the organism was deceased, it would lead to any form of smart organism being doomed to turn into a parasitically controlled zombie whether dead or alive prior. The parasite, if controlling a human being, could very well possibly inherit the ability to speak languages from its host as well.

Results of SCP-XXXX escaping containment and taking control of a human life form could possibly result in a disaster if the entire colony escapes. In addition to bodily control and intelligence boosts, it could intentionally mimic whatever it is controlling.
