The skeletal structure of both SCP-XXXX (pictured above) and SCP-XXXX-1 have been confirmed to be identical.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Threat Level: ● Yellow
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept at the center of a cylindrical room with a radius of 11 meters and height of 16 meters. Surveillance cameras should be present for observation purposes, and positioned around the room at equal distances. No part of SCP-XXXX should be visible from outside its containment area. A lock comprised of both a simple color-matching puzzle, as well as a key-card identifier, should be installed on the room's entrance.
Personnel that enter SCP-XXXX's containment area are to have their personal appearance and psychological behavior examined for instances of SCP-XXXX-1 when they exit. Personnel tasked with attending to SCP-XXXX's containment are prohibited from having any kind of physical contact with other humans while in the vicinity of SCP-XXXX's containment area.
If an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is discovered outside of SCP-XXXX's containment area and is not successfully re-contained, it is to be terminated and have its skeleton placed inside SCP-XXXX's containment area.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 5 meter tall slab of metamorphic rock, crudely shaped into a pointed spire. An entire human skeleton, posed in a fetal position, is interred within the spire. The remains are partly damaged, with the skeleton's ribs and left arm being noticeably worn by erosion processes. Humans that observe SCP-XXXX have reported that they "can always see the skeleton", despite moving to positions around the spire that would make such impossible.1
Humans that are within 10 meters of SCP-XXXX experience a strong urge to embrace the interred skeleton, noting that the feeling is one of pity and "wanting to comfort a hurt family member."2 Humans that do make physical contact with the skeleton immediately suffer severe convulsions, their body quickly re-structuring its physical attributes to imitate that of the archaic human species Homo heidelbergensis. Thick hair growth, sloping of the forehead, extension of the jaw, elongation of the back of the skull, and widening of the ocular cavities have all been observed. Affected humans are to be regarded as anomalous, and designated the item number SCP-XXXX-1.
SCP-XXXX-1 can speak and understand all languages it knew before being transformed by SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 displays a slow and slurred speech pattern, usually only communicating with very basic vocabulary and body language. However, SCP-XXXX-1 should be regarded as exceedingly intelligent, having shown competency in operating complex machinery, solving logic-based puzzles, and understanding verbose works of literature.3
SCP-XXXX-1 commonly expresses a want to "expand its family," attempting to come into physical contact with humans through any means necessary. Humans that are touched by SCP-XXXX-1 will experience a physical transformation identical to that of touching SCP-XXXX.4
Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 that have not come into physical contact with humans within 12 hours will begin to rapidly decompose. The entity will stay conscious through-out this process, expressing intense pain as its organs and skin begin to decay and detach from its skeletal frame. A fully decomposed instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will only portray anomalous properties in its skeleton; all other organic matter derived from the subject is safe to touch by human personnel.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/██/2019 when a large group of SCP-XXXX-1 approached site-██ in northern Iceland, carrying the anomalous object on the damaged frame of a Nissan Versa. On-site MTF were able to successfully neutralize all instances of SCP-XXXX-1, soon calling in additional support for conflict clean-up and anomaly identification. Armed support soon extended to towns surrounding site-██, helping to terminate any last instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and facilitate damage control of public property.
Disinformation campaigns on local Icelandic towns covered up the anomalous incursion as a highly coordinated series of terrorist attacks, prompting the government of Iceland to initiate a state-wide week of mourning on ██/██/2019.
Audio log from Interview XXXX-1:
Interviewed: SCP-XXXX-1, formerly Michael T. █████ (D-570██)
Interviewer: Dr. Lankaster
Foreword: SCP-XXXX-1 has been restrained to a chair. The entity has not had physical contact with a human for 11 hours, and has begun showing signs of emotional distress. Dr. Lankaster has just entered the interview room, accompanied by two MTF personnel.
<Begin Log, 13:50>
Dr. Lankaster: You're… Crying, SCP-XXXX-1. Is this of your own volition?
SCP-XXXX-1: No. Can't stop it. Feel scared.Dr. Lankaster: Scared of what? Us?
SCP-XXXX-1: Scared of what you make happen.
Dr. Lankaster: Please elaborate.
SCP-XXXX-1: You keep me away from everyone. I feel lonely, just like man. So lonely. No family…
The clatter of metal can be heard as SCP-XXXX-1 begins to shake its chair, trying to resist its constraints.
SCP-XXXX-1: I feel like I going to die! No family, just like man! Just like man! You keep me away to feel just like man!
Dr. Lankaster: Taze him, he's becoming panicked.
The buzzing of electricity can be heard, followed by a shrill shriek. There is a long pause.
Dr. Lankaster: So, you're saying that SCP-XXXX communicated feelings of existential dread to you?
SCP-XXXX-1: The man tell me so much. So much pain. So much loneliness. It never stop for him. It never stop for me, if you don't let us have family.
A deep sobbing is audible.
Dr. Lankaster: So you assume that generating more of yourself is the way to combat your… "the man's" loneliness?
SCP-XXXX-1: He don't have to be dead alone. No one does.
Dr. Lankaster: I'm surprised you would think death together would be preferable to death alone.
SCP-XXXX-1: For the man it is. For me it is. We all is lost when alone; we have meaning together.
Dr. Lankaster: The people that you transform have meaningful lives before being… "re-constructed". Do you not find it selfish to pull them into this death fantasy? You seem pretty selfless for "the man" anyways.
SCP-XXXX-1: You is selfish. You make me and man's meaning so small. You make our family so small. You make our pain so small! Those not in family always make us feel so small!
Dr. Lankaster sighs
Dr. Lankaster: Michael also portrayed contempt for authority. I can't determine if its his personality bleeding through or really just you, though.
SCP-XXXX-1: I no Michael. I am son of man.
A lengthy pause occurs. Dr. Lankaster can be heard flipping through his notes.
Dr. Lankaster: Well, how are you feeling now, SCP-XXXX-1? You've stopped crying.
SCP-XXXX-1: Empty. I know I going to be just like man soon.
Dr. Lankaster: One of the other researchers wanted to know if you feel regret for touching SCP-XXXX. Is that so?
SCP-XXXX-1: No. He needed me. I was there for him.
Dr. Lankaster: Do you feel like someone will be there for you?
SCP-XXXX-1: Family always there. They will come slowly. I just wait.
Dr. Lankaster: checking his watch It seems like you only have about an hour to wait, SCP-XXXX-1. Sorry to say.
SCP-XXXX-1: There are more ways to wait than just in chair.
Dr. Lankaster lets out a slight chuckle.
Dr. Lankaster: I suppose there are.
Dr. Lankaster stands up, gathers his things, and begins to leave the interview room.
Dr. Lankaster: Cortez, Whitlan, make sure SCP-XXXX-1 stays contained in this room until he expires. I'll send Dr. ██████ to record the decomposition and some more MTF members to help safely move the skeleton.
