Item #: SCP-5035
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Radio channels must be observed at all times. If any signs of SCP-5035’s anomalous effects are discovered, attempts should be made to remove it immediately, through any means necessary.
Description: SCP-5035 is a simple radioshack, with wooden walls and a brick roof, located in Mojave, California. SCP-5035 will produce a talk show periodically, replacing a randomly chosen radio channel.
The host of the talk show, designated as SCP-5035-1, will begin to tell ghost stories. The settings and characters in these stories will be identical to the listener, where the listener is, and what the listener is doing. Any events which SCP-5081 describes will occur. Any entities created in these events are to be designated as SPC-5035-2.
Attempts have been made to enter SCP-5035, and to destroy it, but personnel attempting to do so reported being suddenly overwhelmed by an irrational fear beyond their control, and were unable to complete the task.
Note: Instances of SCP-5035’s anomalous effects seem to appear more often on channels a person is listening to if they are nearby SCP-5035.
Observation Video Log Transcript:
Subject: D-Class personnel.
Observation Head: Dr. Samantha Jensen.
Assisting Personnel: Dr. Leonard Jole, Dr. Vincent Daryl.
Time of Recording: 8:55 PM, 6/3.
Foreword: Subject has been instructed to drive a plain minivan down a road which leads past SCP-5035.
BEGIN LOG
Camera feed begins, showing the subject’s view from the driver’s seat of the car. The car is parked on the side of a street, seemingly in the middle of the desert.
D-Class personnel: So, you guys want me to just drive on this road, right? Easy enough, I guess. Looks like a pretty long road, but you guys do realize that this would be the perfect chance for me to run away, right?
Control Room: D-34286, any attempts to defect from the SCP Foundation will be met with severe punishment. We urge you to remain compliant.
D-Class personnel: Defect? You guys make it sound like I want to work here or something. Wrong idea, guys.
Control Room: D-34286, please comply and begin driving.
D-Class personnel: Fine, alright, whatever. I guess this is karma or whatever.
The subject inserts a key into the car, turning it on. The radio begins to play, although anomalous channels are yet to appear. Car begins moving.
Thirty minutes of driving have been cut from the video, as they hold no relevance to the observation.
Static suddenly overtakes the song played on the radio. The subject attempts to change the channel, but the radio seems to be stuck on the current channel.
D-Class personnel: Hey, hey! What is this! I liked that song! Wait, no, no no no, this is what you needed me for, huh? Couldn’t risk one of your own guys to listen to some static?
Control Room: Please remain calm. At the moment, there are no known dangers.
D-Class personnel: Alright, whatever, I guess it’s better than what I could’ve gotten.
At this time, the anomalous effects of SCP-5035 take place, and SCP-5035-1 begins to speak on the radio.
SCP-5035-1: It’s a lovely evening, isn’t it? Nights such as these are both terrifying and beautiful, aren’t they?
D-Class personnel: I thought you guys said it was just gonna be some dumb static? And hey, wait, didn’t I pass that sign a mile back? What’s going on?
Control Room: Please, remain calm, and listen to the recordings. Any damage you receive will be fixed as soon as you get back.
Subject does not respond.
SCP-5035-1: So, what’s a better way to start tonight than with a good ghost story? Well, I’m sure you’ll love this one. And where do we begin? Well, in a car on an endless road, of course.
Camera turns to face the installed radio.
SCP-5035-1: The road was as plain as it is now. The desert as endless as it is now. And the night as dead as it is now. Now, you see, the man driving the car was quite confused, He’d seen that one speed limit sign about thrice now, and the horizon seemed no closer. And yet he continued to drive, for he had no choice.
SCP-5035-1: The man wants to call for help. He wants to yell, scream punch, anything to make the road end, but he can’t. He just focuses on the road, still. And how long has it been? Minutes? Days? Months? Years? He doesn’t care, he just wants the road to end.
Subject remains silent, and the camera once more faces the road.
SCP-5035-1: And he’s given that offer. The offer of death. It’s always been there, sitting by his side, waiting for him to welcome its embrace.
Subject turns to the passenger seat. An instance of SCP-5035-2, in the form of a cloaked humanoid with no visible specific features, is seated, a book held up to its face. It turns its head to look at the subject before returning its gaze to the book. The subject, however, does not show signs of distress at the appearance of the entity.
SCP-5035-1: And he accepts the offer.
At this moment, the subject drops their hands from the steering wheel and falls limp. Camera feed is lost in the following half-hour, but returns once thirty minutes have passed. The camera had somehow been moved to the passenger’s seat. Camera feed shows the corpse of the subject, and that the car had been engulfed in flames.
SCP-5035-1: I think we can all learn something from a story like this. There are things in this world that just shouldn’t be messed with, and bad things always seem to happen when someone tries.
END LOG, 10:13 PM
Closing Statement: Based on the final words spoken by SCP-5035-1, Dr. Jensen theorizes that SCP-5035-1 is aware of the SCP Foundation’s observations, and that it opposes such activity.
End of Report.
