Thunk.
That was the third left that Josie Tanner felt since she woke up inside the enclosed space. She awoke inside this strange, dark reality, feeling the sense that nothing seems right. Josie saw thin cracks of light and tried to see where she is before being thrown away from the fissure, making it hard for her to get back to see through the crack.
Josie then tried to wiggle herself out, but the rope used to bind her hands prevented her from doing so. She then took a sniff while she was inside. The smell reminded her of where she was before being forced into this space. It was thick, with an almost addicting smell to it. The kind that can make someone roll down their window and just embrace it. At least, to her.
Petrol.
Thunk.
A right this time. The space felt like it was coming to a slow. Josie couldn't tell how far away she is from her car, or equipment, or even the nearest bus stop. She tried to curl up, but the space wasn't providing such comforts to her. She looked around but couldn't see anything. Her hands, however, brushed against something cold, but sharp.
She hurriedly rubbed against the sharp thing, cutting her hands in the process. The tight feeling around her hands went away when she got through the rope. Josie then shuffled around to feel her face and rub her hands. The space stopped.
She heard a car door slam. Then another one. A pair of thuds were walking away, getting quieter and quieter. Josie reached for the cracks and slowly opened the space to reveal an open warehouse. She could tell it was a warehouse because of the cold temperature as the atmosphere felt much like her labs. Whoever did this must have something planned.
A pair of headlights, shooting out at full beam, blinded Josie. She couldn't do anything but shield her eyes. When Josie uncovered them, a figure wreathed in darkness blocked one headlight. Even blocking one headlight, she couldn't make out any details or notice anything that could identify this person.
"Hello there," said the figure. Josie could tell he was being cordial, but there was something snarky in the tone. Something that meant he wasn't taking this scenario seriously. "Did my guys rough you up?"
"Who are you?" cried out Josie. Holding her cut hands out of sight from the figure.
"No point in hiding it," he said, again, that tone bothered her. "I can see the blood on your hands. Literally. Please be honest. Did any of my guys hurt you?"
"N-no! Nothing of the sort. Please just -" she didn't finish the sentence as a laser shot from the figure behind her. A few seconds later, Josie heard a thud from behind her. The figure moved out of the full-beam headlights.
"Bring her to the room," the figure moved behind her and went to where the thud came from. Josie was too scared to look behind. She didn't want to see the corpse. "And someone clean this up!"
When Josie was calmed down, the now not-shadow figure grabbed two small glasses and pulled out a brandy bottle. The liquor looked like it was primed and ready to be opened for a smooth taste. The man, wearing a red jacket and trousers, pulled off the cap and poured out a shot for himself, looking over to Josie and shaking the glass in his hand.
"Want a sip?" he then wiggled the brandy bottle in his other hand. Josie shook her head as a woman in blue finished wiping away the blood from Josie's hand. She kept an eye on the woman, as she threw the tissue in the bin. "Ah, that's a shame. This is quite a fine brandy."
The man in red sat down, handing the glass over to the woman in blue while he took a swig from the brandy bottle. He looked at Josie and smiled at her. "Don't worry, we're not into that voodoo or cultist shit here. I just want to offer you a drink and give you a deal you can't refuse."
Josie stared down the man in red. "What's your name?"
"Hmm… Like you, I have trust issues. No one here knows each other's names here, only by colour. You may call me Red."
She looked around for the blue woman, but couldn't see her at all. "That fine lady is Miss. Blue, my partner in all these affairs. Now, about this proposal. I feel like -"
"I wanna go home!" Josie suddenly shouted. It made Red's bottle spill a bit on to the solid. Remembering what she was told to do in these sceanarios by her superiors. "Let me go! Please!"
Josie suddenly felt heat near her head. She turned to see the sofa she was sat on catch on fire before she patted it out. Red spun his pistol around before holstering it back into its special pocket. "Now, now, Miss. Tanner. You've seen my gun, now sit there and shut up before my finger slips again."
The room was silent. The pair was staring each other down. Red then broke the silence by pouring out another shot glass and drinks from it. Josie jumped a bit when Red places the glass down, kicking up his feet onto the table.
"The deal is simple: I want you to take a vacation."
"Wh-what?" Josie stuttered. She blinked three times when Red raised his hand for silence.
"Go on a vacation, relax and enjoy the sun. I only ask that you don't tell your superiors about this. Instead, I'd be doing you a favour. We'll have someone cover your shift!"
The woman in blue - Miss. Blue, Josie tried to remember - strode in with everything. A lab coat, ID badge, a pair of glasses and a few bobby pins to help keep Josie's hair out of her face whilst she worked. "Sorry, but how?" asked Josie, as Red waggled a finger to keep her quiet as he pulled out a piece of paper and a bottle of ink.
"Before we go on any further, we need you to sign this."
Josie looked at the ink, then the paper, then at Red and his cocky eyes. She grabbed the ink and threw it on the paper, ruining the wording on the paper.
"Nice try," Josie smirked, now gaining a foothold in this fight. "But I recognize a Geas when I see one, so next time, do better than that!"
Red looked at Josie and smiled once more, causing Josie to hesitate in her judgement. Red then snapped his fingers as a second Red appeared from the doorway, this one wearing a yellow jacket and pair of trousers. Josie felt scared for a moment as the second Red shambled over to her.
"You met Mr. Red and Miss. Blue. Please, may I introduce to you, the Thing in Yellow."
The Red drinking from his brandy bottle smirked as the Thing in Yellow made Josie's world spin into one of madness and confusion.
