Special containment procedures: SCP-3681 is stored in refridgerated containment locker-3681 at site ██. SCP-3681 may be removed from its locker with authorization from one researcher with Level 3 clearance or higher. Under no circumstances may the contents of SCP-3681-1 be consumed outside of experimentation.

Description: SCP-3681 consists of SCP-3681-1 and SCP-3681-2. SCP-3681-1 is a 4 oz container of Вкусноn applesauce manufactured in Tyumen, Russia. All packaging and nutritional information is printed in Russian and no expiration or sell by dates can be found on the container. If the contents of SCP-3681-1 are removed, and direct line of sight is broken with 3681-1, then SCP-3681-1 will be refilled, and any damage inflicted upon SCP-3681-1 will be repaired. SCP-3681-1 refills with normal applesauce approximately 83.3% of the time, and with SCP-3681-2 approximately 16.6% of the time.

SCP-3681-2 is a substance that is identical to the applesauce that SCP-3681-1 refills with in color, smell, texture, taste, and composition. However, if a human consumes SCP-3681-2, he or she immediately suffers lethal brain trauma identical to a gunshot to the head and dies. Damage to the skull identical to a 7.62 mm caliber bullet entry wound occurs as well, although the location of the skull damage is random. No exit wounds or bullets are found, and no damage to the skin occurs. Any attempts to prevent a person who has consumed SCP-3681-2 from perishing or to resuscitate a person that has consumed SCP-3681-2 have failed. At the moment of death, the person who has consumed SCP-3681-2 vocalizes a sound identical to a Nagant M1895 revolver. Attempts to discover how this vocalization occurs have failed.

SCP-3681 Recovery Log: SCP-3681 was recovered in ██████, Russia after Agent Vlasik, an agent embedded in the local police force, found the item at the crime scene of an alleged game of [REDACTED] that resulted in the deaths of two males. The item was later obtained by Agent Vlasik and recovered without incident. Agent Vlasik later interviewed ██████, suspected to have assisted in the commission of the crime (See Interview Log 3681-B).

Agent Vlasik: Are you familiar with the males found dead at the crime scene?

██████: Yes, they were good friends of mine. We first met at this local trade shop about seven years ago. We did business for each other for the first six months, but we then found a common interest.

Agent Vlasik: Were you at the scene when the two males died? Why did they play [REDACTED]?

██████: Yes. It was that common interest I spoke about before.

Agent Vlasik: Okay. How did they play the game? No gun was recovered at the crime scene.

██████ motions to the box of items siezed from the crime scene.

██████: The applesauce in there wasn't eaten as a treat. It was the method of choice.

Agent Vlasik: Okay. Why would they use special applesauce? The men were wealthy, so why didn't they use a handgun.

██████: They started out with handguns, but they manipulated the odds and succeeded too often. They got bored.

Agent Vlasik: Okay. How did they get that applesauce?

██████: I don't know the details. All I know is that Niki contacted these guys who call themselves The Spirits, and they sold it to those guys for some high price. I can't remember how much.

Agent Vlasik: You know a lot about what these guys did, but you don't seem to join them. Did you play these games with them?

██████: Absolutely not! I liked the game and played it a few times before I met them, but they were far too good. They played it so much that they were obsessed, even driven insane by the game. When faced with their skill, I was content with sitting on the sidelines.

Agent Vlasik: Okay. I think we are done here. I wish you the best of luck with your criminal proceedings.

██████: What! You promised me immunity! You said I would go free! Get back here you son of a [EXPLETIVE REDACTED]!

██████ is restrained by security guards. ██████ is later given a Class A amnestic and released into police custody. He is later convicted of double homicide and sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Addendum: SCP-3681-A: Chemical Agent 3681-Charlie: Chemical Agent 3681-Charlie successfully synthesized from SCP-3681-1. Subjects who die from chemical agent 3681-Charlie mimic the behavior of those who consume SCP-3681-2. However, Chemical Agent 3681-Charlie only kills 16.6% of all persons exposed to it. Repeat exposure does not lead to death in any circumstance. Future experimentation needed. Presence of SCP-3681-2 may indicate lethality, but this hypothesis has not been verified.

Addendum: SCP-3681-B: Chemical Agent 3681-Delta: 1 minute after being synthesized, Chemical Agent 3681-Delta became highly volatile and combusted, creating a yellow mist. 50% of individuals who inhaled the mist died and mimiced the symptoms of subjects who consume SCP-3681-2, resulting in the loss of 3 D-class personnel. Yellow mist dissipated after 36 minutes.
Project temporarily halted.

Addendum: SCP-3681-C: SCP-999 and SCP-3681 Experiment Log: For each test, D-9148, now referred to as subject, consumes all of the contents of SCP-3681-1 before leaving the room. SCP-999 is present in the testing room at all times.
Results: SCP-999 shows affection toward subject and never tries to stop subject from eating the contents of SCP-3681-1 during the first 3 tests. However, during the fourth test, SCP-999 swats SCP-3681-1 out of the subject’s hands. SCP-999 attempts to prevent subject from eating the contents of SCP-3681-1 by constantly swatting SCP-3681-1 away from subject. SCP-999 is returned to its pen and the experiment is ended.

Note: Testing indicates that SCP-999 can detect the presence of SCP-3681-2. SCP-999 will prove very useful in the development of chemical agent 3681-Epsilon. - Dr. █████
