Item #: SCP-xxxx
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure arms locker at all times when not checked out by Foundation operatives. Said locker is to be secured using at least two heavy duty padlocks to prevent unauthorized access to SCP-XXXX. To gain authorisation to SCP-XXXX, form XXXX-AF1 must be filled in triplicate and submitted to the armoury supervisor of Site-[Redacted]. Padlock keys must be kept in separate locations to prevent theft or unauthorized use. Mobile Task Force operatives should request use of the object via their team leader.
SCP-XXXX is to be sheathed at all times while in storage. A spare sheathe should always be stored with SCP-XXXX due to its unusual dimensions. This is for convenience in case and not due to any mystical properties. If a sheathe should become damaged the backup should be utilized as soon as practical to do so, and the damaged sheathe submitted to the armoury attendant on duty.
Any cuts caused by SCP-XXXX may be treated as normal knife wounds and require no unique medical treatment.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a knife of unknown composition and make. It is a rectangular piece of metal with a cylindrical handle attached. The object has no point, but all edges including the hand facing edge are sharp enough to easily part flesh. Operatives should take care when holding the object not to slice their fingers, and tactical gloves with a hard plastic backing are strongly recommended. The blade appears to be made of iron, with a cylindrical handle of the same composition. The entire object appears to be one piece, with no obvious joining. The edges of SCP-XXXX do not require sharpening. The blade is uniform at 30cm long, and 6cm wide. The handle is noted to change to fit in the user’s hand comfortably, however no operative reports feeling the handle change. Measurements taken show that after each use, the handle will be a different length and thickness. During initial testing the object displayed damage resistance comparable to high grade carbon steel, however testing was discontinued due to fear of damaging the object.
SCP-XXXX has the ability to cut or slice through anomalies that have the ability to “phase through” usual means of attack. The knife was originally seized by Agent Trevor of MTF [Redacted], after being used to disabled an “ancestor spirit” during a mission. It was reported that said spirit was unable to be harmed by conventional means, but the knife was able to cut it as if corporeal, allowing the MTF to complete its task.
Care should be taken when sheathing SCP-XXXX.
Addendum:
Due to complaints from Dr Turner, Agents are required to sign a waiver acknowledging they understand SCP-XXXX is sharp enough to cut flesh.
Excerpt from Debrief of Agent Trevor:
Dr Ford: So can you take me through how you found the SCP once more?
Agent Trevor: I’ve been over this a few times with different people. Can’t you read the report?
Ford: I understand that, but I’d like a summary for the official document.
Trevor: Fine. I was on a mission with my Task Force. We had information a shaman of some sort was planning to summon his ancestor spirit to attack a rival. We planned a raid of his house in [Redacted], [Redacted]. As we were stacking up outside the door, some old man came over and gave it to me.
Ford: He just…gave it to you?
Trevor: Yeah, it was weird. He just sauntered up to a bunch of heavily armed guys in tac gear and offered us a knife.
Ford: Can you describe the old man?
Trevor: No. That’s the weird thing. I don’t remember what he looked like. I remember everything else about that night, but not that.
Ford: I see. And what happened next?
Trevor: Captain [Redacted] told me to just “take the bloody knife and get back in position”, so I shoved it in my belt and we continued with the mission.
Ford: You didn’t think it was odd?
Trevor: Oh, we thought it was very weird. But we were on a mission, and that was priority.
Trevor: After we breached the door, we went in and the shaman had finished his ritual, and there was this…thing there. It was like the outline of a person, but transparent.
Ford: And what happened next? You used the knife?
Trevor: Not right away. First we tried to use small arms. The bullets passed right through. It started coming at Corporal [Redacted] so he tried to rifle butt it, but the gun went right through same as the bullets. It…well, you saw the medical report.
Ford: Yeah. I saw the pictures. Do you need a minute?
Trevor: I’m…
Agent Trevor can be heard slowly inhaling and exhaling for several seconds.
Trevor: Sorry, I’m fine. Anyway, it turned to me next and started moving forwards. I emptied a whole clip into it and it did nothing. I dropped my gun, and went for my knife, but grabbed the SCP by mistake. When I tried to cut it, it didn’t pass through, and the thing screamed. I kept hacking at it until it just…faded away. Then we took the shaman into custody and left. We tried to get the corporal, but he was so badly mangled we couldn’t carry him and…Sorry. I don’t want to think about that.
Ford: That’s OK. I think we’re done here.
Complaint from Dr Turner:
“ To all MTF operatives,
If one of you [redacted] idiots comes into my medical ward once more with a papercut from that bloody SCP-XXXX then I’m gonna be pissed. It’s a knife people. It cuts things. Get it through your heads.
Sincerely,
-The guy who’s time you keep wasting”
Dr Turner was disciplined for his explicit language and for unauthorised announcements.
MTF members are however now required to sign a wavier acknowledging that they understand that SCP-XXXX is indeed a knife, and sharp enough to cut skin.
