Item #: SCP-5933

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5933-A and SCP-5933-B can both be contained in standard humanoid containment, sized suitably to the purpose of containment. No less than two unarmed, preferrably deaf (or with hearing sufficiantly dulled) security guards are required to monitor SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B. No audio monitoring or recording is allowed within containment under any circumstances. A word processor with specific phrase filtering will be provided within containment should observers need to communicate with subjects within containment.

Class D personnel who become instances of SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B are to be terminated or amnesticized immediately if said termination or amnesticization does not place additional personnel at significant risk of injury, death, or psychosis.
Class C personnel who survive the effects of becoming an instance of either SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B are to be adminstered a Class A amnestic immediately, targeting sufficient memory to erase the incident.
It is highly recommended that Class B and Class A personnel receive Class C amnestics to target all instances of SCP-5933.

SCP-5933 is strictly forbidden on all Foundation sites in any form, but specifically: spoken, written, sung, or hummed.

SCP-5933 is 100 percent uncontainable in the field. However, SCP-5933-A and SCP-5933-B are relatively harmless to themselves and each other in the civilian world. Still, it has been speculated that an instance SCP-5933-A may have caused more than a few man-made disasters over recent years. Full scale containment of SCP-5933 is impossible until Foundation researchers can develop a way to erase SCP-5933 from the memory of the entire planet without exposing the Foundation in the process.

Description: SCP-5933 is a pop song entitled "████████", written and performed by the group █████████████████ and released █/█/98 by ███████████████. Any human who has heard SCP-5933 once is susceptible to becoming an instance of SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B at any time.
Note: It is unclear at this time whether other SCPs can be affected by SCP-5933.

SCP-5933-A is any human with knowledge of SCP-5933 who reproduces SCP-5933 in any form, but especially: spoken, sung, hummed, or written. If SCP-5933-A induces an instance of SCP-5933-B, SCP-5933-A will continue to reproduce the song vocally, though intermittantly, and will lose interest in all other tasks.

SCP-5933-B is any human with knowledge of SCP-5933 who hears SCP-5933, hears SCP-5933-A reproduce SCP-5933, or sees written lyrics of SCP-5933. SCP-5933-B will initially hear SCP-5933 in its mind and stop anything it was doing at the moment. Almost instantly, SCP-5933-B's mind will begin to think of nothing. Subjects have independently described an "obscene clarity" of the mind or of being trapped in their bodies to varying degree. Outwardly, SCP-5933-B will appear to be extremely distracted and and in some cases, catatonic. It will fail to succeed at any task assigned to it.

Instances of SCP-5933-B that do not involve SCP-5933-A will remain catatonic for far less a duration of time, often fewer than ten seconds.

In both SCP-5933-A and SCP-5933-B, anomolous effects will wear off after up to seven minutes, although SCP-5933-A will always become non-anomolous at least 15 seconds (up to 75 seconds observed) prior to SCP-5933-B. Though anomolous effects completely disappate, subjects retain no memory of time spent under anomolous effects.

Addendum 01:
The amount of time SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B spend in anomolous states has been discovered to be directly proportional to the amount of danger a distracted state can pose at the time of instantiation. See Test Log T5933-04

Addendum 02:
Note from Dr █████████: Some have pushed back at the notion of immediate termination for Class D personnel who become instances of SCP-5933-A or SCP-5933-B, citing wasted resources and that amnestics are a more suitable solution to the problem. The flaw to this logic is the Class D personnel themselves; ███ Class D instances of SCP-5933-A have been able to use the ensuing turmoil and destruction to escape numerous Foundation Sites. See Interview Log/Incident Report I5933-1

Of these escapees, ███ have been extracted by The Chaos Insurgency.

O5 has directly approved the changes in Containment Procedure.
